49 Crossing, South Yuba River
The South Yuba River is just one of the many amazing reasons for why I love our community. In the summer seasons the Outside Inn gives directions to river goers all day long, but us locals should remember to go down and visit the river during the “off-season.” I’ve written lots of posts on hiking, biking and swimming holes on the river (click here for past outdoor adventure posts). Thanks for Mother Nature for blessing us with some sunshine to spend a little time lounging on a rock by the river. These photos are at 49 Crossing, a mere 10 minutes from downtown Nevada City. I love that during the holiday seasons people from around the country get excited about the Hallmark movie “A Christmas Card” and my blog post with the location guides (including this very spot) gets a huge spike in traffic. If you’re a Christmas Card movie fan feel free to stop by the Outside Inn for our map of local landmarks in the movie. And the winner of the Nevada City Chocolate Shoppe giveaway is Ingrid Knox.

Missing those hot rocks beneath my feet right about now!
Agreed, it’s not that hot, but the rocks sure are amazing.
Good pics Erin. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, I am totally surprised to have won – what a nice surprise!
Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures of the Yuba Crossing. It is the one place we try to make sure to bring visitors.
Happy New Year!
