4th of July Activities

4th of July camping

Who’s ready for 4th of July?  For those who are looking for some local activities here are a few of our suggestions to celebrate Independence Day.  If you’re looking for a family friendly option check out the Music in the Mountains SummerFest Patriotic Pops on Saturday, July 3rd at Western Gateway Park.  The MIM Chorus and 65-piece Orchestra all come together in this rousing patriotic program to perform some of the greatest works of patriotic music.  Downtown Grass Valley will host a pancake breakfast from 9-11am on the 3rd, Rewind Press Play Elvis band performing between 11am-3pm.  Additional activities will include: Beer & Wine Garden/ Mimosa’s and Bloody Mary’s, kids games and food vendors.

4th of July

The 4th of July parade will be in Grass Valley this year, starting at 9am.  The motorized event will travel through downtown Grass Valley starting at Sierra College.  The parade route will continue down Main Street, all the way to Mill St and out to the Fairgrounds. The Nevada County Fourth of July parade is co-sponsored by the Greater Grass Valley Chamber and the Grass Valley Downtown AssociationSalute to Nevada County Heroes was chosen as the 2021 4th of July theme as a way to honor the citizens of Nevada County.  You can arrive early in downtown Grass Valley and hear the Nevada County Concert Band performance at 8am.  Or if you want to do your own thing, maybe your plans include a BBQ with goodies from BriarPatch, a picnic to go from Backporch Market or support one of our local restaurants and grab a meal to go.  4th of July Fireworks will be provided by the City of Grass Valley, details to come.

Another great option is to go play outside, stay cool, maybe a refreshing dip in Scotts Flat Lake or rent a SUP or kayak from Mountain Recreation.  Or maybe take a swim in the Pioneer Park Pool (military discount on July 2nd and 3rd) or try your luck at a parking spot at the South Yuba River.  The Inn Town Campground is in full camping mode, lots of happy campers enjoying the pool, BBQing, enjoying outdoor movies and hanging out under the trees.  Don’t forget you can kick off the holiday weekend with the Nevada City First Friday Art Walk, downtown Nevada City from 6-9pm, July 2nd.
