Who’s ready for 4th of July?  For those who are looking for some local activities here are a few of our suggestions to celebrate Independence Day.  If you’re looking for a family friendly option check out the Music in the Mountains SummerFest Patriotic Pops on Sunday, July 3rd at Nevada County Fairgrounds.  The MIM Chorus and 65-piece Orchestra all come together in this rousing patriotic program to perform some of the greatest works of patriotic music.

The 4th of July parade will be in Nevada City this year, starting at 11am.  The festivities begin at 10am with a street fair on North Pine featuring food and craft vendors–plus a performance by the Nevada County Concert Band on Broad Street.  Or if you want to do your own thing, maybe your plans include a BBQ with goodies from BriarPatch, a picnic to go from Backporch Market or support one of our local restaurants and grab a meal to go.   Downtown Grass Valley is hosting a family friendly pancake breakfast from 8:30am-10:30am and a musical evening from 5-9pm on Mill Street.  4th of July Fireworks will be provided by the City of Grass Valley, 9:30pm over the Dorsey Interchange.

Another great option is to go play outside, stay cool, maybe a refreshing dip in Scotts Flat Lake or rent a SUP or kayak from Mountain Recreation.  Or maybe take a swim in the Pioneer Park Pool or try your luck at a parking spot at the South Yuba River.  The Inn Town Campground is in full camping mode, lots of happy campers enjoying the pool, BBQing, enjoying outdoor movies and hanging out under the trees.  Don’t forget you can kick off the holiday weekend with the Nevada City First Friday Art Walk, downtown Nevada City from 6-9pm, July 1st.
