4th of July Activities
Who’s ready for 4th of July? For those who are looking for some local activities here are a few of our suggestions to celebrate Independence Day. If you’re looking for a family friendly option check out the Music in the Mountains SummerFest Patriotic Pops on Wednesday, July 3rd at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The MIM Chorus and 65-piece Orchestra all come together in this rousing patriotic program to perform some of the greatest works of patriotic music. And if you missed our kid-centric post with all sorts of kid activities, click here for the summer round up.
The 4th of July parade will be in Grass Valley this year, starting at 11am. The Nevada County Fourth of July parade is co-sponsored by the Greater Grass Valley Chamber and Nevada City Chamber of Commerce and the Grass Valley Downtown Association. Hats Off to Nevada County! was chosen as the 2019 4th of July theme as a salute to the Spirit, Courage, Resourcefulness, and Accomplishments of the citizens of Nevada County. You can arrive early in downtown Grass Valley and hear the Nevada County Concert Band performance at 10am or you go later and watch the fireworks at Nevada County Fairgrounds, gates open at 3pm and the entertainment starts at 4pm. Maybe your plans include a BBQ with goodies from BriarPatch, a picnic to go from Backporch Market or a cheese platter from Wheyward Girls Creamery. Or maybe you’ll go play outside, stay cool, it’s going to be a warm week, maybe a refreshing dip in Scotts Flat Lake or swim in the Pioneer Park Pool. The Inn Town Campground is in full camping mode, lots of happy campers enjoying the pool, BBQing, enjoying outdoor movies and hanging out under the trees.
