Avenue Q
Sierra Stages Community Theatre presents Avenue Q at the Nevada Theatre. The production features a series of short musicals pieces by a cast of puppets. The theatre company promises that this is “unlike any play or musical you’ve seen in Nevada County before” and having had an opportunity to watch a sneak peak, I can say with confidence that that is a true statement. The play is full of laugh out loud moments, adult humor and fun. Please note this is not a play appropriate for children or “closed minded adults” says Sierra Stages, but guaranteed to make everyone else laugh. Click here to purchase tickets online (if you purchase your tickets before July 12th there’s a $5 savings online). The Outside Inn’s blog has 2 tickets to the Saturday night performance to giveaway, please post a comment on this blog post and I’ll draw the winner on Friday, July 12th. Show runs July 10th- August 3rd (Thursdays at 7pm, Friday/Saturday at 8pm and 2 Sunday performances at 2pm).

My best friend and I were just talking about this show! We are so excited to see this! She is coming all the way from Contra Costa County!
Woo hoo!!!
This is going to be a great show. I’m playing in the band so I took advantage of my only chance to actually sit and watch at the last non-band dress rehearsal on Sunday. It really cracked me up. I love the music and the story, too. There’s a definite possibility the Bad Idea Bears might steal the show. (If they do, they’ll probably sell it to buy beer.)
I thought the bad idea bears were indeed a riot…
3 Tony Awards – including the one for Best Musical – can’t be wrong. Looking forward to finally seeing something that has been on my radar for YEARS and am so glad to hear it’s come up to our neck of the woods. I hear that “I’m not wearing underwear today” is pee-your-pants funny, so let’s hope the audience did not make their wardrobe selection based on the lyrics.
Laughing….
I saw this show in Hollywood last year, not knowing anything about it when we took our seats. Heck, we didn’t even need seats…we were practically rolling in the aisles laughing the whole time. Looking forward to seeing the production here.
I can imagine it was a bit of a surprise, glad Sierra Stages is taking on a show that will push some boundaries.
Love your blog! So many wonderful things going on in Nevada County, you’ve given us ideas for great new things to do, thank you! Plus your photos are always awesome! Never heard of this show, but it sounds hysterical…thank you for a chance to win tickets!
So glad I’m helping connect you with fun things to do and see and eat in our area (don’t worry, I too am constantly learning new things, and I grew up here!).
Saw the sneak so no need to put me in the drawing. I just wanted to add it was AMAZING!
So glad you enjoyed it… why am I not surprised you saw a sneak peak?
The interview on KVMR was fantastic, looks and sounds like a GREAT show.
Ruth, it’s funny… but definitely for the “open minded” folks, so not the play for everyone, and definitely not for the little person.
This show is so amazing! I’m hoping to go!
My husband and I would love to see it!
I’d love to see this show.
Cheers,
Miss Ellie
I love this kind of live performance!
