Backcountry skiing has been in the news this week, mostly centered around the tragedy on Stevens Pass in Washington. My sister, Megan Michelson, and her fiance were a part of that group skiing, while neither of them were caught in the avalanche, they witnessed first hand the power of Mother Nature. Below is a photo of Jim Jack, one of the victims of the avalanche, skinning up a peak in the North Cascade last spring. Megan said, ‘Our thoughts are with the families of Jim Jack, Chris Rudolph, and John Brenan.”
