BriarPatch Cooking Class

BriarPatch Co-Op Cooking Classes, Tacos, photo by Erin ThiemBriarPatch Co-Op Community Cooking School is always cooking up something fun.  Last night I tried Maria Benner’s Mexican Tacos and Salsas class.  We made three salsas: chile de arbol, avocado salsa and pastor salsa and then paired them with potato tacos, carnitas tacos and tacos al Pastor.  It was a great way to get ready for Cinco de Mayo.  To check out the upcoming cooking class schedule, click here.  If you’re looking for a hands on approach to learning a new culinary skill check out the school, located on Zion Street, where Wendy Van Wagner’s In the Kitchen use to offer cooking classes.  BriarPatch has donated one free class for an InnSide Nevada City blog reader, post a comment on what cooking class you’d love to take (even if it’s not currently on their schedule, we can always give them new ideas), and I’ll announce the winner on Monday, May 11th.  And the winner of the Fable Coffee giveaway is Ari.

Anything to figure out how to use the greens and other veggies we have here in abundance sounds good – so the salad classes. The crepe and cream puffs look very tasty though.

Cream puffs, yum. Salads are always good. But, I thought that I was your go-to, “What do I do with _____ veggie this week” solution?

    They all sound so delicious!

The Body and Skin Care class would be super cool. Would love to learn more natural ways of taking care of my skin. I am allergic to all sunscreens, including zinc oxide, and I am always looking for ways to protect my skin.

Have you tried going to SOAP in Nevada City? That might be a good place for you to get some natural skin care options.

I would love to take a class that was based on Vietnamese cooking. They have some great cold dishes that would be nice for hot summer days.

I love baking and also making soups, so classes with those themes would interest me. Sounds like fun to try out a class there.
Your Tacos and Salsas class looks like it was a lot of fun!

Did you know that Tess’ Kitchen Store offers a cooking class that’s part of the Thursday Night Farmers Market? Small plates sounds great.

I was so torn about which class sounds best that I had to sleep on it! At first I couldn’t imagine how I’d ever choose between the vegan croquettes vs the DIY lotion class…but then I magically stumbled upon the Wild Cafe and the choice was beyond clear: dandelion pesto, oak chips?! Duh yes please and thanks 🙂

Yay Briar Patch! Went to my first cooking class with them last night actually – so much fun! Kayla is a goddess. I’d love an all-things-chocolate class: mole, cakes, the whole 9 yards 🙂
