Buttermilk Bend Wildflower Hike
The wildflowers are starting to bloom along the Buttermilk Bend trail by Bridgeport, South Yuba River. The docent led walks start today, Saturday, March 7th at 11am and continue every Saturday and Sunday through May 10th. The 2 1/2 mile walk along the South Yuba River is a great way to experience the beauty and magic of the river. Bring your camera and look for a variety of California wildflowers including Golden Poppies, Purple Lupine, White Daisy’s, Western Buttercup, Larkspur and Shooting Stars. The Western Redbud are just starting to bloom, while the poppies are out, but not quite covering the hillside. The docent led hikes are $3 and please remember there’s now a $5 parking fee at Bridgeport.
This is one of my favorite family friendly activities as the hike is appropriate for all ages. For photos from previous years click here, here, here and here (obviously a popular thing to blog about!). Have you seen the Outside Inn Buttermilk Bend postcard? I’ve got a set of 5 to give away, post a comment and I’ll draw the winner on Monday, March 2nd (and happy to mail the postcards if you aren’t local).
In spite of the lack of rain, this early spring seems to be promising to be very colorful! This trail is a great place for a hike and to view the flowers!
Thanks Ingrid.
Going there for the first time tomorrow and can’t wait! The flowers in your pictures, my gosh!
Oh good, hope you enjoyed the hike.
