Celebrating 4th of July in Nevada City
Who’s ready for 4th of July? For those who are looking for some local activities here are a few of our suggestions to celebrate Independence Day. If you’re looking for a family friendly option check out the Music in the Mountains SummerFest Happy Birthday USA on Sunday, July 3rd at the North Star House. The MIM Chorus and 65-piece Orchestra all come together in this rousing patriotic program to perform some of the greatest works of patriotic music.
The 4th of July parade will be in Nevada City this year, starting at 11am. The festivities begin an hour before with a curbside concert by the Nevada County Concert Band on Mill Street. Or if you want to do your own thing, maybe your plans include a BBQ with goodies from BriarPatch, a picnic to go from Backporch Market or support one of our local restaurants and grab a meal to go. Downtown Grass Valley is hosting a family friendly pancake breakfast from 8:00am-10:00am and a musical evening from 5-9pm on Mill Street. 4th of July Fireworks will be provided by the City of Grass Valley, 9:30pm over the Dorsey Interchange.
Another great option is to go play outside, stay cool, maybe a refreshing dip in Scotts Flat Lake or rent a SUP or kayak from Mountain Recreation. Or maybe take a swim in the Pioneer Park Pool or Memorial Park Pool or go for a hike along the Deer Creek Tribute Trail. The Inn Town Campground is in full camping mode, lots of happy campers enjoying the pool, BBQing, enjoying outdoor movies and hanging out under the trees. And don’t forget the next Nevada City Art Walk is Friday, July 5th, from 6-9pm in downtown Nevada City. Great way to celebrate local artists and support local merchants.
