Celebration of Life Triathlon

Congratulations to all the participants of the 18th annual Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon. Over 400 women swam, biked and ran around Cascade Shores in Nevada City. The event raised over $50,000 this year, with money going to support mammograms at the local hospital, Sierra Nevada Memorial and a scholarship to a graduating high school student who plans to study health care. Evans Phelps, my mother, said with a smile, “I survived another triathlon”, this year being her 13th time. Maria Hodges took home the number one spot with a total time of 1 hour 13 minutes. The event brings together an amazing group of people, from the athletes, to the families supporting them to the volunteers who help run the show and the sponsors who support the event.
