The Children’s Festival returns to Nevada City’s Pioneer Park this month, mark your calendars for Friday, July 19th.  The one day Renaissance Fair has 2 sessions (9am-noon and 5-8pm).  The admission price of $3 includes arts & crafts, craftsmen, face painting, spinning, music, fencing demonstrations, magic show, Pirate Skool and Claude, the fire-breathing dragon.  Look for Pepper the Witch and Queen Elizabeth and her court, a bridge-guarding troll and a number of faeries.  Children of all ages are invited, costumes are encouraged.  The festival is sponsored by Gold Country Kiwanis and many local businesses, plus the support of more than 200 local volunteers who work tirelessly to bring this unique event to the children of Nevada County.  The Outside Inn’s blog has 2 pairs of tickets to give away, post a comment here and I’ll announce the winner on Monday, July 15th.  *Edited to say the winners are Megan and Sarah Whittaker.

My children loved this festival over 30 years ago when it was produced by the Friends of the Library. I am glad it continues for more generations!

My daughter loves going to the children’s festival! She is incredibly artistic and they really do a great job helping children’s imaginations run wild. She even got to learn a little bit about fencing last year. Super fun!
