Crystal Hermitage Gardens

Tulips

Cathy Stewart Photography, Crystal Hermitage Gardens

Spring at the Crystal Hermitage Gardens at Ananda is worth the trip, open every day in April, the beautiful gardens are home to 16,000 tulips with 90 different varieties.  Visitors can explore the pools, waterfalls, chapel and lower gardens, the admission price is $6.  On the weekends of April 8th-9th and 15th-16th the Master Gardener and designer will available to chat with folks about the gardens.  While they don’t allow picnics in the gardens if you arrive early you may treat yourself to a maple scone.  Ananda Village, renowned for being one of the longest existing cooperative spiritual communities in the world, is 20 minutes outside of Nevada City.  Many thanks to Cathy & Aaron Stewart for sharing photos from last weekend, if you visit and share your photos on Instagram, make sure to use #VisitNevadaCity.  Because of the rains this season, the tulips are blooming a little later than normal, so while the gardens change every day, the peak of the flowers should be in about a week.  Regardless of when you go this month, it’s worth the trip.  Please post a comment on this blog post and one lucky winner will win a pair of season passes to the gardens, winner will be announced on Saturday, April 8th.  *Edited to say the winner is Suzie Dyer.Aaron Stewart Photography, Crystal Hermitage Gardens Cathy Stewart Photography, Crystal Hermitage Gardens, Nevada City

The Spring Bloom of Crystal Hermitage Gardens is truly a gift to be enjoyed. The docent that took me on my very first ever wildflower hike at the South Yuba River at Bridgeport on Easter Sunday a few years ago told me about the spectacular tulip garden. I came back on Mother’s Day weekend and was enchanted with the incredible beauty of this spiritual place. The tulips, cherry blossom and hyacinth in glorious bloom is like no other. Photos do not do this little piece of heaven on earth justice. It is a place you need to see, smell and feel in person. The home made maple scones with whipped cream are incredible, too. The master gardener is extremely proud to share his creation with you and enjoys seeing and hearing how happy you are when you come to visit. Everyone I’ve taken to see the gardens has enjoyed their visit.

Cathy, enjoyed both your photos very much, as noting you both are professionals but not slick ones. I’m looking forward to visiting next Tuesday, as when I last came, it promises to be a little bit of heaven in the mountains.

The big cherry tree is in full bloom right now, with lovely pink blossoms! Many tulips are in bloom – a beautiful sight when sprinkled with jewels of raindrops. Weather forecast for Sunday 4/7 is Clear and Sunny!
