The 2016 Fall Colors Open Studios & Art Tours continues this Saturday & Sunday.  If you missed the first day or didn’t make it to see all 70+ artists in 47 different studios, there’s still time (10am-5pm and Sat & Sun, October 15th & 16th.  You can check out all the individual artists’ websites on The Center for the Arts’ event page (scroll down below the map) or if you want to download the program.  I love the opportunity to see inside the artists’ creative spaces and get a feel for how they create their work. It’s a great event to be able to interact with people and art lovers and a unique opportunity to connect with the artists.  Event organizer Marni Marshall, “This weekend and next is your chance to meet artists in their work environments; get insights into how and what they create; and take home a painting, sculpture, a piece of handcrafted furniture, or a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry if you wish to shop.  On the Art Tour there is finished art, works-in-process, and art installations in home studios, artists’ buildings, historic structures, galleries, and storefronts. All open studios are free.”  Make sure to check for information on live demos: painting, jewelry making, pottery throwing, screenprinting, silk dyeing and stone carving, plus more.  Did you stop in and say hi to your favorite local artists or did you discover someone new?  Leave a comment and share your recommendations on must see stops.  Photos in today’s posts include: ASiF Studios, Kitkitdizzi (featuring Joe Meade, Sarah Coleman and Becky Johnson), Miriam Morris, Liz Collins, Thomas Devine, The Alexander Gallery (with Roseanne Burke), LeeAnn Brook Fine Art and Juliette Morris Williams gallery at the Miners Foundry.

We did an abbreviated tour this year but we love to start at Studio #1 – Katie Wolff/Jay Gordon, et al. and end with Liz Collins. It’s always interesting to see what our favorite artists are doing.
