Fall Colors Walk

2016-10-13_0001

Fall is one of my favorite seasons in Nevada City, it seems everywhere you turn you can find a pop of color.  If you’ve never experienced the Gold Country fall colors here are a few posts from previous years (click hereherehere, herehere, here, here, here or here) to help inspire a visit or remind you to get outside and look around.  If you are looking for some suggestions on where to go the Nevada City and Grass Valley Chambers have created a great fall colors self guided walking tour map, click here to download it.  If you’re a tree enthusiast, don’t forget the Nevada City Tree Tour, click here to download a copy.  There are so many great fall activities and things to do in our area.  If you’re looking to go for a fall walk with others, check out these two great free options next week: join Jesse Locks on a Folk Trails Hiking Club walk or Kial James on a Nevada City Scenics Fall Photo Walk.

Folk Trails Hiking Club invites history and nature lovers of all-ages to join them on a walk/hike through historic Nevada City and its outlying neighborhoods.  We’ll learn about the local history and practice our plant and tree identification skills.  The hike begins at the Inn Town Campground.  Non-campers should park on New Mohawk Road and walk across the street to the campground.  Please bring water, snacks if needed, proper footwear, dress in layers and of course, your camera.  The walk/hike will last approximately 2 hours.

Wednesday, October 19, 2pm, meet at the Inn Town Campground

Nevada City Scenics Fall Colors

The Nevada City Scenics invites you to join a fall colors photo walk.  Join Kial James on a photo excursion to capture some of Nevada City’s fall colors.  The walk will start at the bottom of Nevada Street and walk up the hill. The meet up is free, all welcome, bring your camera/iphone, no photo experience required.

Saturday, October 22nd, 8am, meet at the parking lot at the bottom of Nevada Street across from the Deer Creek Inn, Nevada City

I also love sharing photos via Instagram of more fall colors.  If you take a Nevada City picture think about adding #VisitNevadaCity to share your photos on via VisitNevadaCity on Instagram.  Can’t wait to see everyone’s favorite fall trees.

I did the tree walking tour several years ago. It was pretty interesting and a good walk. Thanks for the opportunities to admire our lovely area and take pictures!
