Fall Walks

Fall is one of my favorite seasons in Nevada City, it seems everywhere you turn you can find a pop of color.  If you’ve never experienced the Gold Country fall colors here are a few posts from previous years (click herehereherehereherehereherehere or here) to help inspire a visit or remind you to get outside and look around.  If you are looking for some suggestions on where to go the Nevada City and Grass Valley Chambers have created a great fall colors self guided walking tour map, click here to download it.  If you’re a tree enthusiast, don’t forget the Nevada City Tree Tour, click here to download a copy of the updated mobile friendly version.  There are so many great fall activities and things to do in our area.  If you’re looking to go for a fall walk with others, check out these upcoming free options next month: join Jesse Locks on a Folk Trails Hiking Club walk, Kial James on a Nevada City Scenics Fall Photo Walk or the 52 Hike Challenge Meet up with the Bear Yuba Land Trust Fireside Chat.

Folk Trails Hiking Club invites history and nature lovers of all-ages to join them on a walk/hike through historic Nevada City and its outlying neighborhoods.  We’ll learn about the local history and practice our plant and tree identification skills.  The hike begins at the Inn Town Campground.  Non-campers should park on New Mohawk Road and walk across the street to the campground.  Please bring water, snacks if needed, proper footwear, dress in layers and of course, your camera.  The walk/hike will last approximately 2 hours.

Thursday, October 12th, 4pm, meet at the Inn Town Campground

Mark your calendars for this special once-a-year event. Join Kial James of Nevada City Scenics as he leads a Photo Walk of some of the areas best fall locations in and around downtown Nevada City. The fall colors of Nevada City are beyond spectacular at this time of year. All ages and experience levels welcome! (Including those who only have cell phones for taking pictures). Experience the beauty of Nevada City with fellow like-minded photographers as we take a stroll through some of the historic neighborhoods and take in the incredible sights and sounds of the beautiful little town of Nevada City, California.

Bear Yuba Land Trust Fireside Chat at Inn Town Campground

Fall hiking season is upon us and what better way to celebrate than by sharing stories of hiking adventures with like-minded outdoor enthusiasts. Join Folk Trails Hiking Club, Bear Yuba Land Trust and Inn Town Campground for this Fireside Chat and Social: 52 Hike Challenge – Nevada County Get Together.

“With community support from volunteers and donations, Bear Yuba Land Trust has built and maintains more than 35 miles of local trails for hikers, runners, mountain bicyclists, equestrian riders, wheelchair users and families,” explained Outreach Coordinator Laura Peterson. Check out their online trails portal for more information on ways to get outside.

Wednesday, October 11th, 6-7:30pm

I also love sharing photos via Instagram of more fall colors.  If you take a Nevada City picture think about adding #VisitNevadaCity to share your photos on via VisitNevadaCity on Instagram.  Can’t wait to see everyone’s favorite fall trees.
