Fire Safe Council Spaghetti Feed

Are you fire safe?  Fire Safe Council of Nevada County is having a Spaghetti Feed fundraiser on Monday, September 12th starting at 4 pm at Humpty Dumpty restaurant on Main St in Grass Valley.  Tickets are $10 with service at 4, 5, and 6pm.  The event will commemorate the 28th anniversary of the local catastrophic 49’er Fire which destroyed 312 structures and scorched over 33,000 acres in western Nevada County.  The fundraiser provides funds to match grant dollars for the Fire Safe Council, a non-profit, local volunteer organization dedicated to making our community safer from catastrophic wildfire through fire prevention education, fire break clearing projects and creating Firewise Communities.  Sam Goodspeed recommends supporting the fire prevention “chipping program, outreach and education” or donating to any of the local volunteer fire departments in Pear Dale, North San Juan, Rough ‘n Ready, for example.  And since the Outside Inn loves to support local organizations, we’ve got 2 tickets to giveaway thanks to Ingrid and Warren Knox.  Please post a comment here if you’re interested in attending the spaghetti feed, winner will be announced on Wednesday, September 7th.  And there’s still time to enter the Nevada City Film Festival/Inn Town Campground giveaway, click here to enter.  *Edited to say the winner is Vicki Stremel.

And for those who want to keep up to date with fire news, the Outside Inn always recommends checking out YubaNet.com for currently information.

Erin, Thanks for hosting this ticket give away. The FSC is a fabulous organization that does a lot of vital work for our community with so little resources. The spaghetti feed is a great way to support the organization AND have a fun and delicious meal. I hope we’ll see lots of the blog fans there on September 12th. (I get to bus tables this year. 🙂 )

I think the Fire Safe Council is a fantastic organization and can certainly use additional funding. We’d like to go. If we win, we will donate $20 to the FSC.

Awesome fundraiser for an awesome cause. Fire Safe Council of Nevada County along with their fellow first responders are working extra hard to help preserve California’s landscape and keep folks and their critters safe and save their properties from harm’s way. Doing an incredible job with limited resources.

I remember the glow and smoke cloud at the beginning of the fire. I was at work, in Brunswick, and you could see it over the tops of the buildings. It later went on to burn through our property. It was a stressful time for everyone. This is a scary time of year.
