Firehouse Museum No. 1

Nevada City Firehouse No. 1 MuseumThe Nevada City Firehouse No. 1 Museum opened in 1947 in the original Nevada City Hose Company No. 1 (1861-1938).  Today the museum houses Nisenan Basketry, Chinese artifacts (including the Hou Wang Temple and the Kuan Yin Temple, which were in Grass Valley between 1877 and 1938), Donner Party relics and examples of early life in Nevada County.  The museum is open from 1-4pm Tuesday-Sunday May 1st- October 31st by donation, so stop in and learn a little bit more about Nevada City’s rich history.  I’ve got several of LeeAnn Brook’s greeting cards in the Outside Inn’s office, including her Fall Firehouse card.  Post a comment on this blog post and I’ll send you a free card, what’s your favorite point of historical interest in Nevada City?  Nevada City MuseumNevada City Firehouse Museum No. 1
