Grand Giveaway
The Outside Inn’s InnSide Nevada City blog is excited to share our end of the year giveaway! All year-long I showcase, spotlight and share exciting things to do in Nevada City and Grass Valley. Six years ago a little end of year basket came to life on its own. The Grateful Giveaway, Ultimate Giveaway, Epic Giveaway, the Crazy Giveaway, InnSide Nevada City giveaway were a lot of fun; if you have time I highly recommend reading the comments. This year the crate has grown to include 70 different businesses and is valued at just over $3000. Can I say, yet again, how amazing our little town is? The time I spent reaching out to local businesses and organizations leading up to this giveaway really reminds me how fabulous our community is and how thankful I am to call this place home. When we opened the Inn Town Campground last year I really grew to understood its success is because of the support of the entire community. This year the collection of goodies means even more to me, because it really showcases how many businesses, organizations and individuals in our community are excited to be a part of the blog. This prize is a really great over the top way to say thank you to the entire community.
One extremely lucky person is going to win this entire crate full of prizes. Scroll down for the complete list of what’s included. How do you enter to win this amazing basket of Nevada County goodness? Add a comment to this blog post and tell me what you love about the Outside Inn’s InnSide Nevada City blog? Do you have a favorite post? Do you have a favorite photo? Do you have a favorite local event? Did you learn something new this year from the blog? Feel free to add a link in your comment to one of your favorite blog posts or photos. You can always look back through the blog with the search box in the footer of the website. The winner will be announced at noon on Christmas Day. Want a chance to throw your name in the hat for a second time? NOBODY markets and supports Nevada City better than you, Erin! Your passion is contagious and I regularly share your blog events and stories with my friends and family. My mom came up to the InnTown Campground and loved it! Thank you for LOVING and SHARING this community with EVERYONE!!!
Thanks Gail, it’s always to know that the genuine appreciation for our community is contagious. Happy holidays!
It’s too difficult to choose a favorite photo, but the ones with quiet, empty streets appeal to me because they look like an open invitation to explore! I signed up for this blog because it reminds me what a lovely place Nevada City is, and that it is just up the hill from Rocklin!
You don’t have to pick one, I’m okay with that. But I also love the tranquility of the quiet empty downtown. Happy holidays.
I love how there is so much to see and do. There is always something going on and always something to participate in. Living in Roseville, wishing I could live in Nevada City… yet, feeling like I’m part of the community by participating in all the year round activities!!!
I’m so glad you feel a part of our community, I would want Nevada City to stay welcoming to folks who live nearby.
Cannot wait to visit this little town!
Have a great time! Happy Holidays.
Such a clever way to celebrate the holidays.. great job Erin !!
The winner certainly will be happy, but for me the whole giveaway is just one a large reminder of all the amazing things in our backyard.
I am a new subscriber but already see the love in sharing the wonderful things our community offers.
I look forward to future blogs throughout the year.
I especially love the the photos of Victorian Christmas. The 1st time I went in 1990, it snowed as we sang Christmas carols down Broad St. with my daughter’s Girl Scout troop.
Magical!
Victorian Christmas in the snow is truly magical, thanks for being a new subscriber, happy holidays.
What a fantastic giveaway! Have heard so much about Nevada City, can’t wait to visit!
And I did just sign up! 🙂
You’ll be quite the expert by the time you get here!
I love being able to see what’s going on in the community, what events are happening and when. I love Victorian Christmas!
I’m excited for Victorian Christmas… let’s hope it doesn’t rain sideways for all of ’em this year.
PICK ME!!!! Erin you are awesome for doing this! Xoxo
You know it’s random right? Love you dearly and thank you and Yuba Blue for being loyal yes people. We definitely live in an amazing community.
This years contest looks great.
Always loving the latest news about local events.
Retweeted the notice on Twitter.
Thanks Robin, post a second comment to put your name in the hat for the social media share. Thanks for your support and as always, I love seeing your photos of life around town.
Erin! You continue to put do yourself! We truly are blessed with an AMAZING community!!
I can not choose just one post/photo/new something! Only that we are lucky to have YOU!
Thanks Zoey, happy holidays to you.

I’ve shared the love!
Thank you is not enough for taking your time and dedicating it to sharing your love and passion for Nevada County and especially Nevada City thru the Outside Inn blog.
Reading each blog and viewing each photo, brings those events to life and makes one want to participate in every event (big or small). I feel very blessed to be part of this amazing community!
Thank you. It’s a genuine love of this community, so yes, it all takes time, but I get such joy out of the whole thing (at least that’s what I remind myself when I run out of that precious time).
What I love about The Outside Inn blog is the community that it builds. There are so many places to go for information on all of the amazing events going on in Nevada County, but I find that the Outside Inn is consistently highlighting all of them and taking the time to honor the talent and commitment we have in this county. My favorite post from this year was about the Day of the Dead Folk Trails Cemetery Hike. I was lucky enough to attend that event and I thought it was so unique and wonderful. The work that Matt Melugin and his team are doing to restore our cemeteries and honor forgotten people of Nevada County is fascinating. I am thankful to Jesse Locks for getting people out for not only fitness, but to take back an interest in our history. I was amazed at how little I knew even having grown up here. When I think of the Outside Inn blog, I think of a hub that is bringing us all back to our roots.
Thank you Michelle. We should make sure to do a post about the Silly Sweater Run next year… (I didn’t take a single photo, eek). I also loved the Day of the Dead hike, who knew…
Facebooked, Tweeted and Pinterested! 🙂 love you guys.
Thanks Michelle! And we’re excited about the silly sweater run tomorrow, we’ll be there with bells on (maybe literally).
WOW, what a giveaway! Shared!
Thanks, yes, a gift for sure…
Once again, Erin’s awesome giveaway goes Outside, Intown CRAZY !
Thanks!
I enjoy reading the blog and seeing your deep love of our community through your words and photos. My mother and sister are coming up for Christmas for the first time in a few years and they both have rooms at Outside Inn!
Yeah! We look forward to hosting them.
I Nevada City! And I love the blog. I was gifted a night away in Nevada City 2 years ago and have been in love ever since. We go up whenever we can and when we want to see what’s going on and what to do, or just to spark our wunderlust, we come here. Thank you.
Posted on FB to share the luv.
What a fabulous gift idea, I’m glad I’m helping with the wunderlust….
We live here now in part thanks to your blog — your posts convinced me that Nevada City/Grass Valley was what I was looking for: a small town with charm and lots of interesting things to do. We moved here almost 4 years ago, and this area has met and exceeded all my expectations — there aren’t enough hours in the day to do it all. But best of all are the people we’ve met here — wonderful, talented, generous, kind people. I was looking for the perfect place for me, and I found it. Thank you, Erin, for your part in that!
Wow… I’m not even sure how to respond, b/c I never think of my small part of this larger community as being the reason someone would move to Nevada City…. but thank you. And I’m so glad you’re happy– I don’t think I could deal with the pressure if I had to make sure everyone was meeting their expectations. Happy holidays, happy to be a part of your perfect place to call home.
Amazing!!! I love this blog, it has made me fall in love with Nevada City a little more with every new read. This blog is my favorite and the photography is superb. This post, in particular, is my favorite because I am grateful for Outside Inn and it warms my heart to see all of the generosity from this community! Happy Holidays
Liked, shared and hash-tagged! Because this is too good not to share:)
Thank you! And if I recall correctly you won ice cream, isn’t that the fastest way to a gal’s heart? Happy holidays.
Shared — and by the way, the list of prizes made me aware, once again, of how many wonderful establishments and events this area offers — each one unique and special in its own way!
Agreed! Such diversity in this crate, truly something for everyone. Happy holidays.
Thank you for again being Nevada County’s biggest cheerleader. We all love it here but you have done such a great job in promoting to others and keeping those tourist $$$ coming in. Happy Holidays!!
Thank you Ingrid for your consistent support of the blog, we can give you an honorary job title if you want one?
I love visiting Nevada City–the yoga community is fantastic, and we always stay at The Outside Inn. Like home away from home. Thank you, Nevada City and Grass Valley
There are so many talented yoga teachers and studios in our area, yes, that’s a great reason to come and play in our community. Happy holidays.
I love staying connected to my hometown(which I hope one day to make my way back to!).
How have I just heard about this newsletter?
Thanks for the add
It’s always good to have reminders from afar… and yes, the email subscription makes it so you don’t have to come look and see if I’ve updated things. Happy holidays.
I’m new to the area and your blog has given me so much information
Welcome! There’s a lot of info in the archive, so feel free to do a bit of armchair travel research.
Shared and liked on Facebook!
Shared! Love Nevada City and can’t wait to come back to visit soon! =D
Yeah! Happy holidays.
Your blog’s always a delight to see because of your sense of design, clarity and brevity, and, of course, your great photos. Favorite? All I can think of now is National Coffee Day, maybe because I haven’t had any yet. Thanks, Erin.
Thanks Ed! One always needs more coffee.
What is not to like about the Empire you have built. I love seeing all the post about the campground and all it has to offer. Anyone who visits will leave with a wonderful memory of our small little gold mine of a town, Nevada City. Thanks for helping share all its wonder.
Happy hoildays!
Empire… ha ha. But the campground is indeed an amazing place and I should probably write about it more in the Outside Inn’s blog. Never too early to plan a summer camping adventures? Or rent a RV and try it during the winter… or go glamping with girlfriends.
I am continuously impressed by the quality of this blog and the timeliness of its posts. And I’m so glad I signed up for the email list, because I am frequently alerted about local events before they happen, or while they are still happening and there’s time to check them out before they end. I know how much work goes into a maintaining a blog, and I don’t know how you find the hours in the day, Erin. You are a service to this community!
Thank you Roseann. There aren’t enough hours in the day, but I continually remind myself that I get joy out of it. And just like your beautiful photographs, something about the visuals speak to me on a level that I don’t get in other work agendas.
Ps, I shared the love on Facebook!
I shared it on pinterest!
I love all the amazing pictures and getting to know more about the hidden treasures!
Thanks!
Love this blog and the Visit Nevada City/campground Instagram feeds! My favorite post and the one I come back to every summer (and sometimes on cold winter days!) is the one on different swimming holes along the river https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/south-yuba-river-nevadacity.htm
Can’t go wrong with a bit of river love… but that’s a good reminder that I personally love the river during the winter months— so I should go visit and share.
As much as I love the info provided, I am consistently struck by the photos that capture our little town in the foothills. Thanks for having a great eye and sharing your vision with those of us that appreciate aesthetic photos that convey warmth and whimsy.
Warmth and whimsy… what a wonderful way to describe it. Happy holidays.
I love all of the hiking info. You do an amazing job of always introducing me to a trail I did not know about. Thank you and keep up the good work.
There are so many I haven’t covered… but thanks, glad to hear I’ve motivated you outside.
Because Erin is an incredible community advocate for our town. We are lucky to have her and the blog is a daily/often testament to that!
Thanks Lisa. The blog isn’t daily, I promise I’m not that on top of things… but I do enjoy advocating our behalf of our community.

This giveaway truly embodies everything that Nevada county is, which is supportive and amazing! Brings such warmth to the heart
Supportive and amazing! Check. Happy holidays!
I shared via Pinterest! https://www.pinterest.com/pin/223491200242197096/ LOVE this giveaway! Merry Christmas!
My favorite thing about your blog is that as a single mom I can always find an endless amount of things to do with my son for each season!!
All I can say is that my kiddos have not always loved being dragged on some of these blog research trips… but my 12 year old keeps telling me I need to write about the skateboard park in Grass Valley… so I guess we’ll keep up the fun– even as they get older.
Love this blog
Thanks.
I love being able to find something fun and interesting to do by just looking at your posts. So good. Many Thanks!
Well there’s certainly no shortage of things to do– sometimes I wonder if the town ever takes a week off.
I’m not a local of the area, but it didn’t take long after my fiancé and i stumbled on this beautiful little gem on a spur of the moment back road trip to fall in love with it and all it’s beauty and nostalgia. So much so we’ve decided it will be our next place of residence.
We visit at least 5 times a year and love coming in the summer with the kids to enjoy the beautiful Yuba River and all it has to offer. And my favorite time to visit is in the winter time during the holidays, the Victorian and Cornish Christmas’ are so fun and delightful! Thank you for all your beautiful pics that allow me to feel like I’m there all year long!!!
So happy to hear this…. spur of the moment road trips are my favorites (we’re not always so organized to plot and plan things out).
Subscribed to blog via email! Thank you again! Happy Holidays!!!
The Outside Inn’s blog is my go-to resource for all the awesome things that are happening in Nevada County. I always love the river posts, the holiday activity posts, and of course the posts that feature our MANY different choices for a cup of Joe. Thanks Erin!
Thanks Erika, happy holidays to you and your family. Can’t go wrong with coffee– but maybe we should meet for wine?

I was very happy to hear about the Outside Inn, its amenities and local camping sites! The blog is a fantastic resource for those of us who live here and those who want to take in the beauty of this area. My favorite things about this area include the Celtic Festival, the Altar Show, the natural beauty and the people who contribute to making it a wonderful place to live!
I need to go to the Altar Show one of these years… Happy Holidays, thank you for entering.
I love how this blog is so community positive about all things Nevada city– not just outside inn.
Happy holidays! So true, I actually should talk about either the Outside Inn or the Inn Town Campground more… but maybe in 2018, as the motel will be celebrating its 20th birthday.
I have to say that I LOVE all of the gorgeous, artistic, pictures that you take of Nevada City. Your blog is always so fun and informative!

I love our community. There is so much going on year round, that it’s hard to do it all. My father who lives in Virginia commented on FB today how much happens here. He visits soon and we are picking out events to attend! The Outside Inn keeps me abreast of all these events and any news that I might have missed. I love your posts on Instagram and Facebook too. Happy Holidsys everyone!!!
Thank you, is your father in Virginia following me or just in the know?
Love your blogs. Need few excuses to come visit the family, but they really entice me up here!
Family is the best reason, but I’m sure having a few other ideas of things to do helps sweeten the pot.
I love the weekly updates of activities happening in the area!
Thank you, sometimes I wonder if anyone pays attention to that shout out…. thank you.
I love seeing photos of my hometown pop up on your ig. It always makes me homesick how you’re able to capture the feel of the town. Nice to have a little taste of home 🙂

I love this blog because it’s so involved in the community and keeps me current with events nearby! It also makes me appreciate the beauty of this area. I have discovered many wonderful things, such as hiking trails or events in town, that my whole family have enjoyed and didn’t previously know about. I also love how you reply to comments if anyone has any questions, it has been helpful to me :). I follow you on Instagram as well and enjoy the posts on there. Thanks Erin for your amazing info on Nevada City. My husband and I moved up to the Sacramento area in fall of 2013 and quickly fell in love with Nevada City. Especially the Outside Inn! Look forward to spending time there in February! As an artist, I loved your blog on holiday art events coming up. The Nevada City Craft Fair is going to have to be a can’t-miss for me this year!

Hi Erin – You have outdone yourself! I will need to take the year off to use all of the prizes. My favorite part of the blog is being able to direct friends to it so that they can have a sense of what Nevada City is like. Thanks for all you do.
Pam
What’s not to love about your blog Erin? I am passionate about my wonderful town too. Your photos are the best, and I share them with my friends all the time. Whenever I have guests coming up I direct them to your site so they can get a feel for what’s going on. I have been involved in the art community here for a long time, so the Friday Art Walk blog post is a favorite too. Thank you for all that you do for the local community.
I’ve shared the love! Now if I can just get my mitts on that basket…
The photos and things you write here are wonderful. It’s really hard to pick one. Some of the elements I really like are the autumn and holiday pictures. Very well done.
Wow! This is some giveaway, Erin! Of course, I would love to win, and also want to say Happy Holidays, and looking forward to seeing you all in January for the Wild and Scenic Film Festival! Woo Hoo!!! Will share this on FB 🙂

Love the information on upcoming events in Nevada County! Also love when the blog highlights new shop openings in GV/NC. Thanks!
Every summer we go to the Sivananda ashram for family week and stay at Inn Town Campground for a night or two. We explore Nevada City based on your blog posts and staff recommendations. However we have never explored DT Grass Valley, your post here https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/downtown-grass-valley.htm/ made us want to explore that area much more in summer 2018. Thank you , your dream and business really is a piece of magic for my family each year.
I love the Outside Inn and their blog. I liked that they helped Sunset magazine pick Nevada City as their cover story for “Best Places to Live 2017” . I love their blogs that tell what’s going on in town. My favorite picture is of their produce exchange. Our apple pears were in some of their baskets. We had too many. It was nice to be able to share them with others.
I shared your post on Facebook!
Really liked the Halloween Display. Like the blog; it’s a good way to keep informed of what’s going on.
I grew up in Nevada County and I LOVE how this blog reminds me of all the great activities and events in our area. If I need inspiration for an outdoor activity to do with my 3-year old, I just have to look here for so many great ideas! It reminds me that Nevada City will always be my home at heart. Thank you!

Having just moved here a couple years ago, the outside Inn blog was one of the first online sources I used to get to know the community on a deeper level! It’s a great depiction of how close & nurturing this community is!
My favorite event to come to is the Victorian Christmas. It’s a tradition in my Family. We come from Chico to partake itn the festivities.
I can’t wait to stay there again!
I would love to visit the Outside Inn on my next vacation in California. It would be a pure delight for us Chicagoans.
I love all your pictures you showcase. It reminds me how much I love where we live! Thank you for caring so much about our community!
Hope springs eternal. Some year I may win. I love using the blog to keep up on what’s happening but mostly use it as a tool to show friends and family how amazing our little corner of the world is.
Great basket. It would give me a good excuse to visit you wonderful town often
I love how your blog covers all sorts of topics that make our town cool to visit – I often forward your postings to friends/family coming from out-of-town to inspire them of what we could do together here!
I am really into exchanging my Nevada City home. I always point to the Outside Inn blog as a way for our guests to discover a variety of ways to enjoy our area. Before we moved here I always looked forward to reading new posts and learning about what Nevada City had to offer. My personal favorite section is activities with kids. I love looking for ideas of new seasonal adventures our family can go on. Thanks for the inspiration!
Reading through the contents of the box this year, I couldn’t help but think, each of these businesses and the people behind them are what make Nevada County a truly unique place. It’s so great to call this community my home. It’s not so much a place, as it is a people.
Nevada City has been a magical place many times in my life. Teddy Bears Picnic event, oh so many years ago, got me hooked. Now I share your special events with my child. Would love this wonderful gift for Christmas! Even more reasons to visit and spread the wealth. Thinking about who else I could bring to your little slice of heaven. Fingers crossed!
There is no better place for xmas than Nevada city and Victorian Christmas is a huge part of that! One of my top favorite events NC does.
I love your blog because it always has events posted whether they have been around for decades or are brand new! With dates and times too! Annnd this is the best giveaway ever 🙂
Shared and subscribed!
Fingers crossed this will be my lucky year
Shared the love…Thanks again!
Erin, your blog IS the pulse of Nevada City! The go to when you want to find out about any and everything exciting happening in our sweet little town. I am in awe with how much you lift, encourage, promote, and support each of the businesses here. So grateful for all you do!
You provide a great venue for our community to share our bounty! Love all the photos you post too. Thanks for all that you give to our community. I travel all over the world and when I come home to Nevada City I am always grateful to live in such an amazing place. So glad to call this area my home!
I’m always in awe of how much you do, Erin! And how you do it so well. Thank you for being such a great ambassador for our town. Fingers crossed for picking my name!
Love the summer blog post about kids activities! My kids are grown but I’m so glad to see all the things out community has for our youth…and fingers crossed for more! I also love all the hiking posts…we live in a beautiful area 🙂
Outside Inn hosted visitors from England – their first glamping experience and such a grand entry to all our area has to offer. In addition all the information provided by Outside Inn assists locals and visitors with what to do, where to go and who to see. Fabulous resource for community! Thank you!!
So glad they enjoyed their time at the Inn Town Campground, happy holidays.
What a great giveaway! Great to have something like this with many of nevada city’s treasures!
I mostly follow the blog through Instagram. While my family still lives in town, this blog keeps me connected to my hometown! I love The weather updated about the first new snow and the spring flowers! Seasons in Nevada City are just magical! I really enjoy showing off Nevada city to my friends via the Instagram account. My favorite blog post from this year was the one about spring flowers and how to live it up in the fleeting spring season; like visiting the tulip gardens or reminding people about how gorgeous the outdoor seating at Ike’s is this time of year. https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/nevada-city-spring-fever.htm/
Thanks for keeping me connected!
:)) -Christine
This blog is so amazing! It helps keep the community in the up and up of what is happening around Nevada City ! It’s such a diverse place with lots happening, it’s great to hear all about it ! And what an amazing opportunity to be able to gather so many local buisnesses for a giveaway, such a wonderful idea 🙂
Saw this for the 1st time today. What a lovely, generous idea. And it highlights the community connectedness in our area. Thanks!
Love Ike’s Quarter Cafe’s spices!

I just love how supportive of Nevada City this is. Our local area has so much to see and do!!!
Wow, this is just awesome! I’m new to the area and I’m still discovering all the wonders around the town and what it has to offer. I’m in awe. I started following Outside Inn on instagram and saw the post about its halloween setup. I knew I had to take my one-year-old kid to it and it was just terrific! She had so much fun watching the lights and she thought the ghouls were laughing. I’m now discovering the blog and will spend more time reading it. I love how warm, open, and friendly it is with its posts, pictures, information, and offerings. Most importantly I love how it brings the community together. Thank you!
Halloween is definitely a trip, glad you enjoyed.
Coming back to submit my second comment. I’ve shared the LOVE on several social media platforms! Thank you again. 🙂
This is wonderful! I love keeping up with this blog. I live only a few hours away and when I recently visited Nevada City, I absolutely loved it! There are so many things to do (activities I found on this blog) and so many wonderful natural sights to see. I cannot wait to go back!
I have always loved the look & feel of this wonderful little inn. Because of its popularity I have never been able to get a room until today! Looking forward to our stay at the inn. I grew up the area and love that Nevada City is alive and still doing so well.
The blog is such a great way to find out about all the great things going on in the community.
I love all the local activities you post on your blog. We’ve been living here for 8 years and yet we can always find something new to do off your posts. Thank you!
I shared the love on Facebook!
Erin! This is so great! Nevada City is my “secret” place I want to live. We drive up there often, and I feel so at home.
I found you a few months ago on Instagram, via the campground. I thought: “What a great place for me to get away once my van is fixed!”. I was looking for a place not too far to drive for some SPIRIT/ME time :). One day I told a friend at the library about it, and it turns out we have a friend in common who praises you highly! Since then, I have been following you on Instagram, and love all the things you do to pull together your community. I love Nevada City, and look forward to being a part of the Nevada City Craft Fair in a week or so.
Of course I would be jazzed to win this fantastic crate! That looks like a Heike Weekend in Heaven, er, Nevada City to me!!!! 🙂
The basket gets bigger and bigger every year! A sign of good commerce and generosity in our little community. Happy Holidays to all and a big shout out to Outside Inn for marketing our area in fun ways.
Love the way you all support the activities of the local arts organizations. Your shout-outs and support mean the world in a small town.
Shared on Facebook :).
I love all the information about our community the Outside Inn Blog and Instagram page provides! My favorites are posts about the Celtic Festival and Victorian Christmas- my two favorite events in Nevada County. Thanks for always keeping us updated, and for being such an active promoter of local events.
Love your photos ❤️ Shows what a great little community we have and encompasses our uniqueness and differences.
I love the photography on the blog, especially the Yuba pictures. They remind me to get out and enjoy our towns scenic beauty
I love Nevada City, it is such a beautiful little town with a wonderful ambiance, shops, and community. The Victorian Christmas festival is my favorite event of the year!

I think it is super cool that your blog does this giveway.
Your blogs help locals (and out-of-towners) know where the fun is at in and around Nevada County! Thank you for that!
This is so good!! Beautiful blog!
My favorite part about the blog is that even though I have lived here for 35 years, you are always reminding me what an amazing place Nevada City is and how lucky we are to live here!
My favorite post this year was Summer Activities for Kids – this gave me the great ideas I needed to keep my family occupied during the school break: https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/nevada-city-summer-kid-activities.htm/
Erin, THANK YOU for everything you do for our community. We love you!
love the blog and especially the photos, always make me so happy to be back in Nevada County – my best place.
I love your blog! My latest favorite was the Fall Walks.
Love this blog and the Grand Giveaway! Miss my hometown of Nevada City but still try to visit as much as I can. This blog is so helpful to know what is going on there! Thanks Erin for all you do! Merry Christmas everyone!
I love Nevada City. What an amazing City we live in. I love walking downtown and how so friendly all the people are here. I am so happy to raise my children here.
To be honest, I haven’t read your blog, so I can’t answer the questions you asked. What I can tell you is this – we have gone to Nevada City for a date day and we absolutely lived walking around the town and supporting local businesses. In fact, we both look forward to going back. This year, we celebrate 10 years of my Beloved being cancer-free, and are also getting ready to celebrate the first Christmas without my Dad (who passed away on November 18). This has been a rough few weeks, so a trip to Nevada City in January is definitely on the schedule.
Thank you, and I wish all of you a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Congratulations! Happy holidays.
I have just discovered this blog! I am already a FB friend of the Outside Inn. Before I moved to Grass Valley I stayed at the Outside in while I was exploring the area to look at homes to buy, which I did, in Alta Sierra! What I have been enjoying immensely is following the stories on the development and progress of the Inn Town Campground! Keep the campground stories coming! On day I am going to treat myself to a Glamping Cabin!
This place is oozing with charm and the whole thing makes me nostalgic for something I never have experienced, actually. How do you do that?!?!
Some of my most special memories are of my family spending time in Nevada City. The blogs and events that are near & dear to my heart are sunny mornings spent at the farmers markets and the dreamy children’s festival. Getting a chai tea latte and window shopping. Adored when the pages of my daughter’s favorite story book Last Stop on Market Street was posted in the store windows. A don’t know a more charming town.
I love how the blog features all the exciting events going on in Nevada City as well as the photos! My favorite Blog Post from this past year has to be the Nevada City Art Walk. The photos really capture the essence of Nevada City and it’s creativity & beauty!
https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/nevada-city-first-friday-art-walk-2017.htm/
Can’t wait to see your blog post on the Christmas Tree at Foothill Flowers and Vintage on Main!! Thank you for supporting this community with positive, uplifting views! Happy Holidays!

Posted on facebook as well .. although secretly i hope none of them respond and add to this big list of responses. I know … so selfish … but sheesh .. if you won’t divide this prize up into 10 winners .. then I want it all this year!! (ha ha!)
It’s okay to want it all… and then you could divide it amongst 10 friends.
I love that you always share all the fun stuff going on in town that can be a bit hard to find info on! A lifesaver!

I love this giveaway, because it brought me to the blog via Instagram! I love the haunted house you do each year it’s quite amazing for our friends and kids each year
The haunted house is 100% my mother, my only role is to pay for all the candy (not sure how I got that job?). But so glad you enjoy it, she loves putting it together.
I love the pictures from Christmas 2016. You can visit the post here:

Indeed, although if you compare the photos from this year there were a few more people! Happy holidays.
Forgot to mention that I shared on Facebook
I grew up in the area, went off to college, then returned after graduating. Several times since being back I’ve turned to the article in your blog to find out about local happenings. When the fall colors started rolling around, that article helped in my persuit of some fun fall in photos. Excited for Victorian Christmas, and for your write up about it!
Thanks! So happy to hear. Happy holidays.
My favorite posts are the ones telling about the different ways to celebrate the various holidays — Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas — along with news about all of the art shows and festivals! It’s hard to believe there are so many different things to do there! I’ve never stayed here, but the Glamping sounds like so much fun!
Glamping is fun, we’ve had plenty of locals come and hang out, and I love the ones that come specifically in the summer to use the pool. Holidays– yes, there’s always something. Happy holidays.

Love family reunions, happy holidays.
I think I left a reply in the wrong place.
When I first moved to Grass Valley, this blog is how I got to know about all the great things Nevada County has to offer. I met new friends with common interests and grew my love of photography by capturing my adventures to the places the blog recommended on camera. I moved “down the hill” a hear and a half ago, but I built frienships there that I hope will last a lifetime. I heart Nevada County.
We miss you!!!!!! Come back and play my “yes” friend.
Your blog is a great resource for locals and visitors! I loved the Fall Colors post with great resources for enjoying the beauty of our towns: https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/fall-colors-nevada-city-2.htm/ Also loved the tribute to the last NC Farmers Market of the season. That little market is a treasure and the last day this year was so lovely. Thanks Erin!
There are so many reasons to love the Farmers Market, but glad to hear you appreciated the shout out. Happy holidays.
Sharing the love!!
Its impossible to pick a favorite post, because I appreciate each one. I love what you do to support our community, and being fairly new (3 years) to the area I have benefited form so many of your insider tips. Your generous spirit truly inspires!
So glad to hear it’s inspiring, but one must give credit to the 68 other businesses/organizations in this crate– I didn’t pay for all these items. Happy holidays.

Outside Inn a great part of our community. They are awesome!
My favorite thing about the blog is learning more inside tips about what to do and see around the city. It’s so nice to have solid input on where to hike, and what events are happening. The photos are also lovely!
I’ve never actually visited Nevada City. I first heard about it when I was looking for places to stay in our vintage trailer- on an adventure with my husband and daughter. But by reading this blog and following the Inn Town Campground instagram, I feel like I know more of the town than I should! Our little adventure was cut short by me getting pregnant (). It’d be so wonderful to be able to plan the ultimate visit to Nevada City with this gift.
Shared on Facebook! So happy to have moved back home.
Growing up in this town it is easy to forget how special. I love seeing your posts and pictures because it inspires me to get out and see things again. This summer I finally tested myself to a night at the Outside Inn. I loved sitting in the creek area and drinking wine and being about to walk downtown. I can’t wait to do it again.

I’m a Realtor and I appreciate and pass along your beautiful local photos. There was one a few years ago that you posted of en early snowy morning in Nevada City. We had had a heavy snow (remember those days?) and everyone was stuck in place at home since the roads were impassable. Since you lived in town you walked around and took the most lovely pictures of Nevada City after the snow. Thank you!!! Sharing on FB too.

I agree with all of the positive, glowing comments above. You are a valuable asset to NC. BTW, if I win anything, it goes to HHNC or WOW to give to needy families!
I love this blog because it showcases our wonderful area so well and keeps me abreast of everything happening. We have a fantastically active community. I’m not sure how you keep up with everything, Erin!

Wow, Erin, the best thing about the Outside Inn blog is YOU!!! It is a great medium for your talents and I personally appreciate how plugged in you are to the community. And you manage to highlight aspects of the Nevada County lifestyle that appeal to everyone. Collectively, I feel confident saying that we are grateful to have you in our life:)
My favorite thing about your blog? Too many of them! Mostly thankful that this blog exists. Thanks to Erin and the Outside Inn, once again, for all you do and how you share about the wonderfulness of our community. Then, thanks to all the merchants who share back by offering so many goodies for this drawing!
My family and I recently moved out of the area and I LOVE having access to information for what’s going on back home!!! Can’t wait to visit again! Thank you for sharing!
What’s there not to love about this blog?! I lived in Auburn and Foresthill for quite some time and would visit Nevada City; while training for my yoga certification I visited Ananda village and we take our annual family portraits at Empire Mine – there is SO much to NC. Yes, you can say I am in love with Nevada City and I enjoy reading and learning about local artist (I’d love to snag a mug from pickle pottery – I learned about the artist through this blog and it’s also one of the prizes I see listed) and events. There so much more to discover about NC. This blog makes me feel connected to the community and the outdoors. Honestly there’s not like living so close to nature. Having moved to Rocklin, I ache to move back north, so reading this blog evokes nostalgia and keeps me going back to the area for visits. We hope to move back north this coming summer and Nevada City/Grass Valley is on our list.

Love you, your posts and your pictures! You capture the essence of NC. My favorite NC event has to be the Farmers Market. Being there every week for a number of years as the face painter, I have gotten to know children and their parents. I have watched them grow from babies to teenagers. I love it and the wonderful people I have met there.

I love your blogs, cannot just pick one. Thank you for all you do and thank you for sharing our beautiful community. Special, yes you are. Shared the love.
I love that we recommended camping with you to friends last summer and they had a blast! The movies at night, the non smokey camp fires, the kid friendly scene – all appreciated!
I’m sure if you gave the prize to your family, they might scream “foul”, but i can try anyway.
What makes Nevada City so wonderful and unique is that it’s independently cohesive. Every town in America has a “historic business district” that people try to restore and make a destination again. In so many cases the efforts fail, and confused chambers of commerce and city councils come up with a new plan. Nevada City has worked hard for years to manifest what exists here today. But it was bottom-up, with dedicated entrepreneurs taking chances and committing to the sacrifice and investment needed to make a community like this. Not all succeeded, but each business kept improving the feel, and now, it seems like a dream. The InnSide blog is an example of this. Independent, personal, and yet still focused on not just making the Outside Inn better, but in making the whole community better. As great as it is now, the best days for this blog, this community, and the people that visit are yet to come!
I love all the photos and coverage of events in our community. One photo was taken of Broad St. one morning early- so peaceful.
I just shared the love!!!!!
Wow! This is so amazing! Would be so cool to win. You’ll probably have to pick a random number between 1 and 5,000 by Christmas. Pick me
Since moving here 5 years ago, I have relied on your social media/blog presence to connect to our community. Thank you! I love the photo walk blogs because I enjoy seeing the different perspectives from those gathered in the same spot.

So great that you are doing this! What a way to bring our community together. Happy to have Outside Inn and Inn Town Campgound here.
The blogs about the events that make our hometown unique are my favorites; The Fair, Summer Nights, Cornish Christmas…..These are the experiences that I am excited to take my son to. These are the blogs that make me want to come home. Thank You, Erin!!!
Thanks Kasey, I’m sorry I missed you when you were here for Thanksgiving. But I’m glad you’re thinking of your hometown from afar.

I am so excited to follow this blog! We just moved to grass valley and although we have spent some time in the area throughout the years, including getting married at the Miners Foundry in 2012, we don’t know a lot of the local ins and outs. I had no idea there was a campground, and so many arts and crafts fairs! I will need to do some catching up on the blog! Merry Christmas!
So great to hear, welcome to the area. Definitely come check out the campground, plenty of locals have enjoyed a stay-cation.
What an amazing giveaway!
This is fantastic! What a wonderful Christmas gift
Best prize basket ever!

So the contest brought me to the blog. There is a TON of great information in your blog. Our county is FILLED with people who live life. I saw great activities and places to go. I wasn’t to part of this for next year. I had seen some of these reposted a few times. I want in on the action. Merry Christmas!
It’s amazing how a large enough prize will get all sorts of new folks, welcome!

I have just this morning been introduced to this blog. Honestly, where have I been?! OK, I admit, I was drawn by The Grand Giveaway, but now that I’m here…this site is a gold mine, not to mention very well done and full of great information. I have subscribed and look forward keeping up with all the wonderful happenings in our lovey, little corner of the world. Avarice and greed not withstanding, I wouldn’t mind winning that crate full of goodies. Well done, Erin, on both fronts!
It’s okay that the giveaway brought you to the blog, that’s a good enough reason as any. But thank you for your positive thoughts on the gold mine of info… Happy holidays.

Hi Erin, Thanks for everything that you do for the community. We met some folks who moved here from San Diego recently, and let them know what a fantastic community and culture Nevada City and Grass Valley has. You and the folks at Outside Inn and Inn Town Campground are a key part of that. Thanks again for being such a great advocate for our area.
Todd

The blog is a wonderful service for our community. I have saved some of the blog photos, such as the Autumn and snow scenes on Broad St. to send to friends locally and out of town, because I am proud to live here and be a member of this friendly community.
Great job reporting about community events.

I love your blog for sharing with others what an amazing community we have. Your pictures are simply gorgeous. There is no way I could pick a favorite. I would love to win this contest and share with with my clients and the domestic violence safe house I work at <3
There is enough to share the love… you don’t have to pick a favorite, I’m okay with that. Thanks for playing along.
I shared to facebook 🙂
We’ve lived in Nevada City for 17 1/2 years now and every time I think I know every event going on, a new one comes to fruition. The best thing about your blog, Erin, is that I find out about them through you! I love your enthusiasm and genuine love for our community. Thank you for everything you do, and the best of the holiday season to you! And by the way…I would kill for that private olive oil tasting and gift certificate!!
You know The Olive Groove gives tasting on a daily basis, you should go visit them and tell them what you want for your birthday (to win this crate). Happy holidays.
Shared on Facebook! And p.s. my birthday is December 25th….this would make the ultimate gift for me! Ha!
Brilliant and so generous, Nevada City and county Rock! I shared on Facebook….
Thank you.
This is without a doubt one of the most incredible giveaways – love what you do for Nevada County! I attended your social media class last year and it inspired me and has made our business facebook page grow! Thank you!
So glad to hear that… thank you for playing along with the giveaways, Nevada County is an amazing place to call home.
Erin, We love reading your blog about Nevada county places and events and really enjoy your lovely photos. We try and get over there as often as possible to participate in the fun too. Thanks for your efforts.
Thank you, happy holidays, we’re here when you can make the trip.

This little town has so much going on all the time it’s hard to choose! Thank you Erin for all your insight & knowledge to the going’s on here in our community. This is truly a wonderful place to live.
I couldn’t agree more, happy holidays.
I am so thrilled to see that so many of my favorite things are included in this Giveaway… no, not just the crate! Community, sharing and gifting, supporting one another, and promoting local businesses!! I liked and shared your Facebook page, and am subscribing to your blog… I’m shocked I hadn’t done these things already, as your place (particularly the Campground) are high up on my destination list! Since I already live in the area, I’ve been looking forward to really treating myself to what looks to be fantastic accomodation. All the best! And thank you!
Thank you, you should totally come camping– we get locals fairly often. Community is why we live here, so I’m just happy to be a part of the community.
I’m new to the blog. Just discovered it through Three Forks instagram. Love Nevada City and excited to learn more!
Three Forks Instagram is always make me hungry… those evil people. Welcome to the blog. (There are plenty of past posts to make you hungry, don’t dive too far).
I became increasingly interested in eco-friendly travel after staying at Bukubaki Eco Surf Resort in Peniche, Portugal over the summer. I told them that they should trade accommodations with Outside Innto experience Nevada City while you spend a few weeks at their resort. (Just a thought)
I love reading about upcoming Nevada City activities in your blog because I love this town and embrace as much of the community events as possible!
Sounds like a great idea!
Have always loved The Outside Inn
Thank you.
I absolutely love this blog, I love that you highlight everything that’s going on in our community with such beautiful photos and thoughts! Everything from big events to the fun seasonal things to do, and always showcasing our local businesses. Thanks so much for providing such a great view and reflections of our town, and keeping us up to date on all of the happenings, Erin 🙂
Thanks, although I don’t even pretend to cover everything– there’s far too many things to do.
There’s something special about living in this community and the holiday season highlights it even more. Thank you, Erin, for all the time you spend keeping us posted about community events all year round.
Thank you, seriously there’s never a season where there’s nothing to do. Happy holidays.

I moved to Hawaii a few years ago and love your blog for keeping me up to date on what’s going on around town. It’s great to see beautiful pictures of home and of all the events I loved attending when I lived there. I especially love the recent photos of Victorian Christmas, and I was also stoked to learn that the Farmer’s Market is now year round!
Thanks, always good to know people are cheering on Nevada City from afar. The Nevada City Farmers Market being year round is so awesome, gotta love those hardworking farmers.

Outside Inns Grand Giveaway??? That doesn’t even come close to the treasures to be found in this box if you happen to be the lucky one chosen. Winning anyone of these prizes would be awesome…but to be the recipient of the entire box full of items from Nevada City merchants and The Outside Inn would make my year! Pick Me…I’ve been good all year!
As far as my favorite photo…anything taken by Erin, they are so awesome. The winter street scenes and the fall color are favorites of mine…
Thank you, this makes me smile. They’re not all awesome– I promise, I’ve learned to edit out the ones that don’t pass my test. But I too love a good winter scene and some pretty fall colors.
I love it that whenever I visit, you send me on an epic photo adventure for the blog! And I especially cherish the times that you send yourself with me, especially for a quiet walk alongside the Yuba. I sincerely love you and all that you do!
It is always good to have a few stringers in the photo department, especially when they go pick fresh strawberries and deliver them too. Miss you.
I have such happy memories of Nevada City with my husband and a friend from our earlier years of marriage. I follow the Inn Town Campgroynd on instagram. I love reading about their work. We are planning a trip to northern Cali in the summer next year and would love to share your city with our son. Happy holidays y’all!!
Thanks, look forward to having you at the Inn Town Campground. You’ll be well versed with the things to do by the time you get here.

Erin, Awesome job you are doing to help support and raise awareness to our community! Keep up the great work and have a terrific holiday!
Kudos! Happy holidays to you too!
You have made such an amazing contribution to our community — from being the central “go to” for events as well as stunning photographs that help put us on the map for tourism. This community is very special — it’s pretty unique in the most wonderful ways! I especially love your photos of Nevada City when the streets are quiet. Beautiful peace. Thank you for all you do!
Thank you, I love the deserted town images too…. because you can easily imagine the hustle and bustle.
I love learning about all the hidden gems in town. Keep up the good work!
Thanks.
Nevada City, my favorite town to visit with friends.
Cheers! Happy holidays.
I appreciate all the photos and information in the Outside Inn Blog. I enjoy the time I spend in Nevada City and environs and I feel as if I am on the way with every email. Keep up the good work.
Always good to be reminded of the things to do, thanks for playing along.
What a great place to discover events and hidden gems.
Thanks! Happy holidays.

This giveaway is amazing, and you’re amazing for making this happen! I love the outside inn, and this blog. One of my favorite posts is the fall colors one, some seriously beautiful snapshots of our little town! I also loved the halloween one, walking through the outside inn’s halloween setup is one of my daughter’s favorite things to do on halloween!
Halloween is definitely a scene, I feel like my photos hardly capture the energy of the town around that time of the year. Glad you enjoyed the haunted pathway.
Shared the love on facebook and instagram <3
Wow! This is such a fabulous resource ! I live near the Outside Inn Campground https://inntowncampground.com/ and enjoy walking by with my dog. It is so cool I want to camp there even though I live in town!
Thanks Rick! Happy holidays. We’ve had plenty of locals come camping, walk on over.
Its hard to believe how many things this town offers- so many in fact we need someone like Erin to keep us posted! Thank you for all you do to highlight our awesomeness!

I just commented but mistyped my email – so am posting again – it is adriennedoucette5@gmail.com!
I love how you always make our town look so good to visitors! Your pictures are always so beautiful and inviting.
Thanks, I can hardly take credit for making the town look good, but I can happily share for visitors and locals.
What a fabulous idea! So happy for a new campground in our area!
Thank you! The Inn Town Campground is definitely a fun addition to our community and I love how many locals who have come camping.
I love your blog! Even as a local, I learn of new events here. I always love Yuba river posts, and sometimes even learn of new river spots I’ve never been to. One of my favorite posts though would have to be the 52 hike challenge one. I also loved the Bridgeport Buttermilk trail and Day of the Dead photo walks. The photos everyone took on the walks were amazing. I can’t wait til the next one, I hope I’m able to make it out. Love all of your posts Erin! I didn’t know there was a subscribe button, but I am signed up now!
Thanks! It’s so fun to hear about folks venturing outside because of the blog. The Day of the Dead photo walk was so unique, I’ll definitely pass on to Jesse that she should do another one. Glad you’ve subscribed, there’s always something happening around here.
I shared the love too!!
Love our community. Happy holidays!
Thank you, happy holidays.
I’m subscribed to your emails!
Love this blog and love Nevada City. We so want to retire here, we are looking for that perfect retirement home. You can feel the peace and the people are so friendly in this little place. We come especially for the Christmas celebration, but there are so many things to do throughout the year. Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years.
I am impressed by your commitment to your business, your customers and our community. My son-in-law and his new bride stayed at the Inn Town campground for a few days and were very happy with their experience. Thank you for creating this wonderful place. ~~Wendy
Just found this newsletter and love it! What a great way to connect to Nevada City. You give us a real sense of community!
I want to read all the Blog posts! Thank you!
Can’t pick a favorite! Your posts always entice me to look at my work schedule and see where I can fit in a getaway to the magic that is Nevada City!
I love this blog for keeping up with what’s happening in Nevada City and the Outside Inn is such a great place to stay! We stayed here for our wedding, along with our wedding party. Everyone adored this Inn! Favorite events are the Victorian Christmas and summer art walk. Thanks for the fun, informative blog! Keep up the good work. Cheers to 2018!
I love that you’re doing this – you always find great ways to give back to our community. Without the Outside Inn Nevada City would not be what it is today. Great work. And great giveaway. But I have an idea. That’s a lot of gifts for one person. What if the winner put all the gifts in a lottery and people could pay $10 or $15 for a chance to win one gift at random. Then the money collected could be donated to a good Nevada City cause.
If you win you’re welcome to do so, but one of the things I love about this giveaway is that there is no money required, it’s truly a gift.
This is such a fun giveaway every year. What a great testament to how amazing our community is!
My favorite thing about the blog is it keeps me up-to-date on all the fun things happening in our area. I’ve learned about a lot of events, such as craft fairs and concerts, that I had no idea about. Thanks so much for all of your hard work!
I subscribed via email too 🙂
Thank you for timely blog posts that offer tips to tourists and locals alike, many of which are not even available on “official” event websites. Your images are postcard-worthy and sensitive to to all of Nevada County’s treasures: places, people, flora and fauna, the history we must remember and the story of this place that we write every day. Thank you for being part of the magic!
