Grateful Giveaway
The Outside Inn’s InnSide Nevada City blog is excited to share our end of the year giveaway! All year-long I showcase, spotlight and share exciting things to do in Nevada City and Grass Valley. Five years ago a little end of year basket came to life on its own. The Ultimate Giveaway, the Epic Giveaway, the Crazy Giveaway and last year’s InnSide Nevada City giveaway were a lot of fun; if you have time I highly recommend reading the comments. This year the crate has grown to include 76 different businesses and is valued at over $3000. Can I say, yet again, how amazing our little town is? This year the collection of goodies means even more to me, because it really showcases how many businesses, organizations and individuals in our community are excited to be a part of the blog. The launching of the Inn Town Campground this year was a huge undertaking for us and its success is because of the support of the entire community.
One extremely lucky person is going to win this entire crate full of prizes. Scroll down for the complete list of what’s included. How do you enter to win this amazing basket of Nevada County goodness? Add a comment to this blog post and tell me what you love about the Outside Inn’s InnSide Nevada City blog? Do you have a favorite post? Do you have a favorite photo? Do you have a favorite local event? Did you learn something new this year from the blog? Feel free to add link in your comment to one of your favorite blog posts or photos. You can always look back through the blog with the search box on the right hand side. The winner will be announced at noon on Christmas Day. Want a chance to throw your name in the hat for a second chance? Scroll to the bottom of the post for details on how sharing the love will allow you to enter twice.

I shared out to Facebook. Thanks for a great blog.
We are still newbies to Nevada City, but the Outside Inn blog has been amazingly informative. From small to large events and absolutely beautiful accompanying photos, we are kept informed and inticed to participate with our fellow County friends, neighbors and new acquaintances.
Can’t wait to sew what 2017 brings!
I absolutely love this blog. It has great ideas on things to do year round, and includes links so information on different activities is easy to find. It’s absolutely wonderful for both long time residents, and new residents alike. My favorite event is Victorian Christmas in Nevada City. I go every year if I’m in town, and it’s wonderful to see that it has become such a big event, huge turn out of people, tons of vendors, the shops stay open as well, good food, and I love listening to the carolers. We just went on Sunday, and the crowd was phenomenal. Biggest crowd I’ve seen to date, and more vendors than when I first went 4 years ago. Thank you for having such a wonderful and resourceful blog for us to reference when we are looking for things to do in the area! Keep up the good work.
I have liked your facebook page, and shared the love!
I look fwd. to the outside inn pictures of Nevada City and share emails and facebook posts with others-love em. My friend has stayed at the campground twice since it opened and loves it. She and her husband were so glad I told then about it. We visited it once when they were here the first time. This second time they used the community room for a day after Thanksgiving meal with his son and gf who live locally. Fun.Family.
I was lucky enough to win the leta hearing cd from a blog post showing an upcoming event of hers. I love the blog, I always learn new events and things going on in the county. Thanks for all that you do erin!
Erin, thanks so much for all you do to promote amazing Nevada City!
I’d love to have a chance to win this fabulous Christmas basket — please enter my name!❤️
I love this blog because it is by far the best resource for cool places and happenings in Nevada City, and Erin’s positive vibe and friendly writing style are always a pick-me-up. The most exciting thing i learned from it in the past year is a new place to hike. And i have to admit, the possibility of winning such awesome give-aways adds to the appeal.
Wow, looks like I might be the first to comment. Okay, here goes. A hub is the central part of a wheel that connects the axle to the wheel itself. As such, describing Erin’s blog as a hub for our community is a perfect analogy. If you want to find out what’s cooking both literally and metaphorically in Nevada City, Erin’s Innside Nevada City blog is the place to go. She obviously puts an incredible amount of effort into gathering and sorting these many pieces of information, with gorgeous photos to boot, and presents it to the community, and all those checking out Nevada City, as a gift. As if that wasn’t enough, she creates these gift packages too! Yes, of course it’s business, and PR…but with heart, and the heart of the blog highlights the heart of Nevada City’s rich culture, for the benefit of all. Thanks for that, Erin! Cheers!
Thanks for everything that you do for the area, Erin! Our community is strong and vibrant as a result of the people like you and Dan
I forgot to add what I like about the blog: The photography. You really capture the beauty of this area. 🙂
Wow Erin! You have outdone yourself. We are grateful to you for making sure we remember why we live in this lovely little town. Your blog posts are an upbeat look at life and an inspiration to go out and enjoy! Thank you!
Shared, of course, with reasons of why.
My favorite part about the innside Nevada city blog is, now that I live farther away, I can still be involved in all the events happening in Nevada city! I get to live vicariously through this blog and see all the places I miss and find new places to explore the next time I’m in town! But getting to your the inntown campground in person this summer was the best part about following this blog this year.
What I love about this blog is that I can keep up with what is happening around our two towns (GV as well) and see great photos of the events. Watching progress of Inn Town Campground and knowing when we could visit at various stages of construction was perhaps my favorite set of posts because the concept is so special and the end result is just great.
I am somewhat new to town and love ALL of the the great information and events you post! The photography in your blog is phenomenal, I think my favorites are the ones of the different seasons in town that you capture. Thank you!
Love the “things to do” tips and ideas!

I love this blog! It is very informative for both locals and visitors alike! Great job!
I shared this post on FB
This looks wonderful! I discovered Nevada City as we looked for a wedding venue and ended up booking Minor’s Foundry. We fell in love with the town instantly. I am grateful for you posts keeping those of us out of town informed of local events – and we plan to come up for Victorian Christmas next week! <3
AMAZING Erin! BIGGER every year! You are wonderful for all your work and love for our community!
what a lovely gift and perfect way to explore the city – like a treasure hunt.
i first experienced nevada city when i was a child. my parents owned a business called green heart market – it was a health food store of which i have kept alive through an online community, green sourcing products and bringing awareness to the environment and humanity. i have shared the beauty of what you share @greenheartmarket which is small and growing everyday as the community grows.
i was inspired by the magical lifestyle i lived in the foothills of the sierra nevadas — the rivers, an interactive waldorf school that brought us to be a part of the culture of nevada city; the theatre, the rich history and the diverse community.
the best memories of my formative and adolescent years were spent exploring this incredible town i am proud to call home. i hope to return someday. thank you for sharing the most beautiful community with the world. it makes me feel i can experience the gems everyday i see and feel what you share.
I love seeing ALL of the happenings around town. We stayed at the campground for a week over the summer and drove through The Outside Inn. Having been a resident of Nevada city and grass valley I love seeing the exciting growth happening nowadays!
Our family has stayed at the Outside Inn twice now and booked a 3rd. We absolutely love this place. So well thought out, friendly with so many different things to do in close proximity. We are so glad we found this gem.
I discovered this blog a few years ago and thoroughly enjoy when I get an email notification that there has been a new post. I grew up here but through your blog and wonderful pictures it helps me discover new and fun things that I would never have thought of on my own. From new coffee shops to new fun places to eat and all the events you cover – my husband and I could never get bored in this town. Thank you for serving this community through your eye for photography and updating us on the best of what this place has to offer!
I love all the pictures and how simple and easy it is to navigate through this site!
Outside Inn’s blog is my go to place to find out what is going on in Nevada City and Grass Valley. I also love the blog because the beautiful photos and compilations of what is going on make me feel so proud and grateful to live here. Thank you, Erin!
Hi Erin! If you weren’t for you and Kial, I wouldn’t know half of what I know about Nevada County since moving here two years ago. I can’t thank you enough for your beautiful pictures, and your great descriptions of places to go and people to see in our lovely area. I shared this blog on Pinterest, Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. Thanks again for all you do and all you show us.
What an amazing giveaway. My favorite thing to learn from your blog was about your Outside Inn Campground. It looks wonderful and I can’t wait to stay there. I’m hoping this is what I need to do to be entered for the giveaway Thank you!!
Wow! That’s one heck of a giveaway! Nice work Erin, and nice work Nevada City!
Wow! How incredible.
I love how the blog exhibits the beauty of this place, and informs us of all the many goings on in our community- and of course the gal who has charge of the blog.
Whoops, posted before I was done! I’m new to the blog but I LOVE all the beautiful photos you post. So nice to see how you capture our beautiful town. It’s refreshing to see something positive and beautiful on my fb feed. And this gift is AMAZING! Would love this for my beautiful family.
Sharing this on FB!!!
2nd give away entry …shared on my fb page.
I’m doing alot of exploring in the area in hopes of moving by the end of the summer to the Nevada City area. I’m self-employed and would love to make a donation to your giveaways in 2017….Our Furry Friends Training…100$ gift certificate for in-home dog training lessons.
So far I’ve only come up for the day, but in the near future I’m going to come up with my travel trailer and spend the night with a couple of my dogs at your cool Campground.
Nevada City is amazing!! ❤️
Too many wonderful images to pick one, but I have to say, the images from the new InnTown campground are stunning! And what a wonderful new addition to our little town! Thank you Outside Inn for being such a wonderful part of our community!
My wife and I have always visited Nevada City and I am pleased to say that we were very fortunate to have purchased a home in this great little town this year. We love to walk down to the Farmers Market every Saturday morning where we can buy everything we need for our dinner that evening!
I absolutely love the Outside Inn blog posts for all of the great information that we’ll be using to explore more about what’s in and around our new digs!
Merry Christmas
I love our little town. It’s got such warmth and charm. And the Outside Inn is nestled right in the middle of it, yet it’s got a quiet cozy feel to it. Your blog highlights the wonders of our precious community & I always enjoy reading it! I also posted it to my FB page!!!
Before moving here, OUtside Inn was one of our favorite places to stay! You give so much to our city, so kind and generous of you to do even more!! Continued good luck and blessings in your business for 2017!
What I love about the Outside Inn blog, and really everything the Thiem family has given is the community they have created. I have been involved in various efforts to promote Nevada City and all you do has been most successful! All of your efforts have created a great deal of admiration and respect and that connection of everyone to you has created unity. From your Halloween maze to your NC postcards. From your various businesses promoting tourism to your blog. All of it is beautiful!
I love your in-depth writing about my hometown, as well as the beautiful photos. You manage to capture things that make it special and occasionally I still find out about things I was unaware of. Keep it up!
These are a couple of my favorite pictures that you have taken in the past year. Thank you for capturing the beauty of this quaint mountain town that I love so much!
I’ve been following your blog for about a year now. My husband and I moved out of state this past March, but recently moved back to the Grass Valley area because we missed this town, the mountains, and the community here so much. There is nowhere else like it! We are blessed to call it home. I appreciate you keeping me informed about local events, new businesses, and for making me aware of the Outside Inn veggie cart! Great blog! ❤ Happy Holidays!

Just realized the photos aren’t being shown individually. My two favorites are: the California poppy next to the Yuba river and the picture of the string of lights against the dark blue night sky with the brick building.
I love that the blog is a great way to keep up with all of the amazing things happening in our town! It’s shows off what makes our town special and unique. Thanks Erin!

Woohoo, i love thIs sweepstakes! Especially love that Soil Sisters Farm calendar in the mix :). I loved that post this year about all the places to get coffee, with all those gorgeous photos, made me drool!
Every Wedneday I walk by the Outside Inn on my way to volunteer at the Library. I love to see the changes in the Inn, the free fruit/veggie cart and the different plants blooming and changing. With the pictures on the blog it opens your eyes to see what is right in front of us in our wonderful town. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your Family.
Love this ! We camp as a family near Nevada City every year , it’s trudition !
And it’s a Christmas destination !
I love the Outside Inn blog for so many different reasons! I discover new fun things to go experience in my home county, like the Narrow Guage Railroad Museum which my whole family loved! It also is an excellent showcase of this beautiful little town we call home, something I can show to people who aren’t familiar with the area to entice them to come visit! Thanks for the commitment to displaying the wonders of our county!
I love all the great information about what is going on in our community. What I really love about the blog, though, are the photos.
Shared to Facebook 🙂
I love your posts about art events/happenings around Nevada City and Grass Valley 🙂 Thanks!
My favorite post was the Halloween post with all the ghosts and ghouls. All the fun spilled over to the Inn Town Campground and despite the rain, we had a fabulous time!
You are showing the true spirit of the west. We stay with you guys once a year, should be more. The eateries in your town are the best. Many memories of your area for us. We almost moved there, but decided on Sonora, CA., but still only about 3 hours away.
So excited to live close enough to Nevada City to enjoy its blessings. The yuba, the trees, the trails, the flowers, the people, the film festival, the experience. Thanks for letting me be a part of this love!♡
Yes! I would love to have those goodies-
I love receiving your Blog in my inbox and I also follow you on Instagram! I enjoy everything you write about and your photos. Its hard to choose a favorite Blog because we enjoy hearing about the musical events whether they be a few musicians in a resturant or a show at the theater. We also love learning about the plays, a new trail ( we love to hike) or what streets to walk to enjoy the fall foliage. Halloween we found ourslves walking thru your fun Display of Halloween Decor, probably the only ones without children, but we are young at heart!
Thank you so much for keeping us informed, you truly are the best resource for the area.
Oh goodness, I’ve been following you guys for ages and trying to get out to Outside Inn for the longest time. I would love the opportunity to win to do so. I’ve grown up in Nevada City, and now I am lucky enough to be coming back to get married to my best friend at the Miners Foundry next year thanks to the help of talented, local vendors. I absolutely love all the local shops you’ve included in your giveaway. Your giveaway surely captures the essence this artistic, entrepreneurial, and independent city we know and love stands for. Every time I come up for a visit (any free weekend my fiancee and I get), we are in awe of the magic and whimsy NC offers. From visiting our favorite restaurants and shops, hiking, or supporting local artists, we always have the best time creating memories. I can’t wait to raise my kids up there and keep the tradition going.
PS – I’ve hopefully increased my odds of winning by liking your page on FB (via EA RIX) and posting on social media outlets. Not shy here – Cheers!
Have so many people who come see our shows love love love staying with you and experiencing our wonderful little town!
I loved your posts about fall in Nevada city! Such beautiful colors. Nice to be reminded of my favorite little town while away.
What an incredible giveaway! I feel like every year it gets better and better! I love reading the blog, it keeps me up to date on events and new shops. I also love your Instagram!

Thanks Erin for taking the time to keep us informed and up to date on what’s happening around our little community. I feel so privileged to live here and this blog is just one of the reasons. Thanks also for making it possible for me to win various things in the past via the blog. I perhaps liked the Honest Pie pie the best. 🙂 I hope I win this treasure trove this year.
Love all of your pictures on your blog!
What’s NOT to love about the blog? I LOVE everything about it. I love reading about the river!
Erin, I love this blog because though I come to Nevada City a lot, I still find something new to love about it almost every time I’m there. Often, it is through something mentioned in your post. Recently, I attended the Constitution Day Parade and was blown away by all the different groups represented – it was truly impressive and fun! I stayed at the Inn Town Campground in it’s inaugural weekend (and since 🙂 and loved it. Katie and I even discovered a new (to us) route on the Tribute Trail that took us past the Tin Man and Woman sculptures. Cannot lie, though, my favorite Nevada City/Grass Valley happening is SYRCL’s Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival (yes, that’s a plug!) Thanks 🙂
I love your posts that remind me of all the great events that we have in the area, and I especially like your pictures.
Wowza! What an incredible giveaway!!!! I’m always in awe by your blog posts and beautiful pictures to accompany them. Our favorite blog is the one that introduced us to Treats! Yum! It’s a favorite of all time at our house!

Thanks, Erin for your newsletter and posts! I look forward to seeing the newsletter in my inbox, and I can’t say that about most of my emails. I don’t always get to do most of the stuff you mention, but at least I know what I’m missing 🙂
How fo I count the ways I love Outside Inn’s blog? I love the grrat photography! I love all of the insightful posts about out beautiful community! And I really love thr give-aways!
Nevada city has been such an incredible part of my life. This is my first time living away from home and I’m so excited to be back for the holidays. This would be such a great opportunity to share my love for Nevada city and local places with my loved ones. Love the outside inn and our beautiful town!
Your blog has inspired me to seek out new places around the town and to rekindle old favorites. Thank you
I have officially shared the love on Facebook. If one of my friends wins, they’d better share 🙂
I loved the post of kid friendly activities. When I came up this summer for my regular family trip to the ashram in Grass Valley my friend Kim who lives in Nevada City said we MUST stay at Inn Town Campground and check out Nevada City. WOW what an amazing city and campground. We felt so blessed to experience them both. The glamping tents were such a treat! Now every year when we go to Grass Valley the campground and Nevada City will be a part of our family vacation.
Wow! What a prize! I love our little town! It’s hard to pick a favorite event, but I’m partial to Victorian Christmas and the Miners Foundry Christmas craft fair! So cheery and festive!!
Just shared the love for your blog on Facebook, Erin. I love your coverage of the local craft fairs, which I won’t be showing in this year – I will just get to enjoy them. See you there (behind your camera).
I fell in love with Nevada City the first time I visited. We came up from Sacramento for a concert at the Miners Foundry Cultural center. Our orginal plans were to stay for one night and ended up staying the entire week. We stayed at the Broad Street Inn and couldn’t have asked for a better place. Nevada city has so much exciting history. Cooper’s a pub in town were we ran into some locals that shared there experiences living in Nevada City for 50 plus years. Let’s say I wanted more and started following The Outside Inn Blog. This blog has it all. Thank you for all the great information posted about events, hikes, history, camping …. etc! Cheers
Love how your blog supports other business in our area!

Thank you so much for bringing our amazing community groups together. The Outside Inn’s continual kindness and collaboration has always served as our best ambassador to the rest of California!
Learning about Nevada City has been so exciting! I live in the Reno area, but love visiting. We also loved our stay st the InnTown Campground!
What don’t we learn from your blog, Erin? From new restaurants to try, shops to check out, shows and events in our town, to reminders of all the beautiful natural gems to explore nearby, you cover our area wonderfully. Thank you for the work you do and for loving this town so well.
I am so glad the Outside Inn and Inn Town Campground are in our community. They are such assets to locals and visitors. I like the photos posted on the blog…especially the many different views of the campground and its progress!!!!! I can’t wait to have granddaughters visit from Long Beach so we can go ‘glamping’!!!!!
I love everything about your blog! Not only do you keep us informed about what is happening around town, the pictures you include are absolutely beautiful. Before I moved here (over three years ago now), I signed up for your blog to learn about all of the great events and places I had to look forward to once I became a resident. You helped me find two of my favorite swimming holes, as well as letting me know about all of the great things happening and helped me to feel at home as soon as I moved here. Thank you so much for all you do; you provide a wonderful service not only for visitors but also for those of us who live here.
I love how even though I have lived in this area for a while, I continue to learn new things from this blog!
Living in London, there are many things I miss about October in Nevada County. I miss the colors of leaves changing. I miss pumpkins. I miss the taste of winter coming in the air.
That’s why I love reading this blog. It helps me remember.
Thank you for your tireless devotion to this community — the blog is the public face of that and highlights the diverse wonders of this small but busy town. Grateful for your family and the love you have for Nevada County.
Nevada City Victorian Christmas has a special place in my heart because my daughter and I went every year throughout her childhood. It is a magical respite from all the preparation for the.holiday and those few days we visited from Redding, Ca was the way we put aside responsibility and rushing around to immerse ourselves in the restorative loveliness of this beautiful town.
The Fall Colors Walk blog post came just in time for my arrival in this vibrant little town, as I moved here for a volunteer position with AmeriCorps at SYRCL. As an east coast transplant, autumn is not the same without a gorgeous display of leaves changing color. Thanks to that blog post, I did not miss out on all the colors our town has to offer! What a special treat 🙂 Thank you
Some things I love: all of the beautiful Yuba pics that remind me I need to go swimming, the pics of events at the miners foundry which remind me of our wedding and best of all… the food and restaurant pics that make my mouth water for some of my fav spots. South pine and Ike’s! Mmmmm
Shared this opportunity on Facebook to spread the opportunity of rad local bounty to friends…and not to mention spread how generous and special the Outside Inn is!!
Awesome job Erin! Thanks for all that you do!
I am a huge fan of all the work you do to promote our home and make it an even better place to live in!
I love reading your post. They are always so well written. ❤️
Thank you.
So awesome! Love this collection of goodies and amazing community members who contributed. Thanks for doing this again Erin.
Learned about all the local wineries this year, thanks to your blog. Still working at drinking my way through them. Thanks!
Nevada City is my dream town. There is a sense of living in the past, present and future. The past, due to the reminder of the Gold Rush days, the present, with so many enjoyable year round events with friendly people. The future, because the culture is very advanced in the arts, music, healing with spiritual and nature influences.
Love that you think of the past, present and future…. thank you for entering. Happy Holidays.
We moved here 12 years ago to give our kids a beautiful and healthy place to grow up in, and it’s the best decision we ever made. Our daughter is now studying Architecture after eyeing probably every beautiful building and breathtaking scene in this county growing up. Our son loves all the trails and rides them as part of the high school mountain biking team and YBONC. Outside Inn and Inn Town Campground are perfect examples of the heart and soul of our mountain communities. Couldn’t imagine life here without them
Thank you, Erin, for all you do for our community! Your photos are amazing too. It speaks volumes that so many of our local businesses donate to your prize package — that means they also value what you do!!
Oh, and I’ve shared the love on my Facebook page. <3
Erin you are so awesome keeping us all informed of all the great businesses and activities in our great little community. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Erin for everything you do for our community!
It has been fun watching your dream become a reality.
Thank you.

Hi, I’ll call you MY outside Inn, I used to live across the street from you many years ago. I’m so glad you own it now. Looks so great!. My sister comes to visit often, she always books a room with you, She had to show me the Celestial room I was in love. You’ve done so much for our community, and now having internet, share the best photos in and around our so loved community, photos are all great. I appreciate them very much as I am a photographer also. My sister was here a couple of months ago, and last year too, she will book again with you in about june/july 2017. I love the cups you sell too. Everything about our community here, well, your place is like a home away from home. I shared on FB. I tell anyone and everyone who asks , where’s a good place to stay? they say, I say only place I recommend is the outside inn in nevada city, ca. Thanks again for all you do, my sister thanks you too, Her name is Elaine. xoxo Stay warm, might have our first / excuse me second snow tonight.
My guy and I spent a fantastic weekend at the Inn Town Campground, and though we extended our stay an extra night, I still didn’t want to leave when it was time to go. This blog reminds me of all the great things we saw, and more importantly, all the reasons we will come back again.
I learned about Hirshman’s pond in the Kid Friendly Activities post, and then checked it out myself. What a beautiful place! This is a fantastic giveaway, I’m sure you’ll have a ton of entries!
I signed up for the email list. I had no idea you posted so regularly! Glad I won’t miss anything exciting. 🙂

I have found no better way to learn about community events then the Outside Inn blog. I also love the beautiful photographs
Unbelievable, this would make 2016 very memorable!
My favorite thing about the blog is the way you bring the community together in so many ways. Your photography of our local area and especially the photographs you take from our local events is the best I’ve seen. You have an eye for capturing our community spirit in photographs. Thanks for putting together this giveaway!

I love all of the information that this blog provides! My favorite part of the year is Victorian Christmas and I like seeing pictures of the outfits people wear. It’s such a beautiful time of year!
Thank you for everything you so for our community! I met your camp host Scott the other night at the brewery…what a great guy!
I love that while I feel pretty plugged into our community, I learn about new events and happenings from your blog. You really cover a wide array of opportunities. Thanks, Erin!
Thank you for your blog! You always remind us of upcoming events. And I love the pictures from around the County.
You weren’t kidding about this being the most amazing giveaway ever! My mom and I stayed at the Outside Inn this past weekend for Victorian Christmas. It was truly a magical experience, from the wonderful accommodations, to the beauty of Victorian Christmas, to the incredible way the people of Nevada City come together to create such a festive and memorable experience for locals and guests alike. I have been visiting Nevada City at least once a year for 36 years, and I can easily say that this town is one of a kind, in the best way possible. No place on the map speaks to me quite like Nevada City does! I dream of living there one day. In the meantime, it would be glorious to be gifted this spectacular giveaway!
Thank you again for giving my mom and I such a perfect place to stay last weekend. I can’t wait to come back for some “glamping!”
I shared the giveaway on instagram and Facebook! Sharing the love! <3

Seems like I’m constantly finding out about local hikes or meet ups or community events I never hear about elsewhere. Oh and love your photography! Such lovely places around here that you capture perfectly! Thanks for the chance to win!
PS:I shared the love on Facebook.
I love that you’re doing this again. It’s been so amazing to see the progression of this blog since it started. I loved your post on Riverhill Farm berry picking. Back when I ran the crepe stand Elevensies (before it was sold to Calla Lilly Crepes), we prided ourselves on using fresh, seasonal, local ingredients. I would go up to the farm every couple days and pick fresh strawberries for our Strawberries and Cream crepes, as well as blackberries for our “The Mama’s” crepe: lemon curd, whipped cream, poppy seeds and blackberries. Picking berries from Alan and Jo’s farm was like a secret get away from the hustle and bustle of the stand. Even though I was working, it felt like a quiet retreat in the morning air. I loved it. I still make it out at least once a year for their berry picking days. They are such a gift to our community. And on top of that, they plant for the honeybees!
Learned about Hirscmans pond from your post and I’ve lived here my whole life! I love Nevada city and daytime shopping there enjoying the nightlife all the great food Victorian Christmas and most of all trick-or-treating
Shared the love also!
I’m new to the blog, but living up the street, I can’t believe that I haven’t known about it. Love the connection to our community especially in the food and wine scene (personal favs) Sharing this giveaway now! (Not something I usually do 🙂 )
We discovered Inn Town Campground this summer and one of our new favorite activities is hitting up the Nevada City farmers market and then swimming in the Yuba River. Thank you for all the tips on various swimming holes!
The photos!
I really love your photos, and your blog is great. Thanks for doing what you do! shared on fb.
Erin, you do such a lovely job with this blog. So many pictures of Nevada City and the area around it and all the great information on things to do. And your give-aways are awesome. THANKS so much for all you do.
I LOVE your blog Erin. While John and I are on the other side of the literal globe, California and all our friends and family feel like they’re 5 seconds away virtually. It’s such a treat to read your witty prose and gaze misty-eyed at the photos. While it does make me a little bit homesick it reminds me how lucky we are to have grown up in such an amazing place as the West and always feel like we have somewhere to come home to. It was so great to see you and the InnTown Campground this fall! I can’t wait to be back in the area again someday so John and I can both visit. You and Dan have created such a unique and special place. Thanks for being an inspiration!!! And don’t forget, you’ll have a place to stay in Jerusalem if you can get over here!
Thanks Jess… while I don’t think it’s in the immediate plan, never say never with us… and so glad we can provide you some California love while you’re off working overseas. Happy holidays!
I love your blog! I love that you keep us all up-to-date with what’s going on around town, and your photos are awesome! Thank you
hi all, i love this blog because makes me feel close to my piece of heart that i left in Nevada City. i was an exchange student from Italy in 2006, i was 17y. o. and super lucky to be part of this community. everyone was kind and always helpful. i was back some years ago and i can’t describe the joy i had when i could walk again in my fav town in the world. it doesn’t past a day of when i think of NC and all my friends there. i will be back soon, i hope. 🙂
What an absolutely incredible giveaway. I bet my mom at harmony books would donate. Thanks for being a center point of our town. Excited to check out the camp ground.
I shared the love via facebook- happy to brag about our town!
Wow, Erin! What a testament to you and the relationships you’ve built in the community!
I don’t comment as often as I should (sorry!), but I love everything about your blog – the photography, the local flavor, the knowledge of events in the community, the introduction to new-to-me businesses, and, of course, the giveaways. 🙂 This is the first place I look when I want to know what fun things are happening in our area. Thank you so much for all the work you put into it.
I forgot to mention that I absolutely love Victorian Christmas – the ambiance, running into friends, and seeing so many people enjoying themselves. I loved your last coverage on it – the pictures got me excited!
Erin & Nevada county-special, amazing, beautiful, I’m grateful to know both!!
To be perfectly honest, I did not know this blog existed until my daughter tagged me in her sharing of the post. She knows how much my husband and I love to get away from Auburn for date-night and weekend adventures, and NC/GV is our preferred go-to region. We typically stay at Piety, the National, or Outside Inn, the latter which we adore especially because of the creek and lighrs! We love the movie theaters, coffee culture, live theatre, restaurants, wineries, suspension bridge, festivals, and the overall feel of NC. Despite all we do there, we feel we miss out on so much, but, until now, did not know there was such an easy way to learn more about what is going on there! The information you share here is priceless! I have become a blog follower! Yay!!!! Thank you!!!
Hi Erin, Happy holidays to you and your family! Thank you for all the hard work you put into this blog sharing all the activities/festivals/events/programs of this fabulous community. You are a true champion of Nevada County! When I looked back at the blog, there were so many articles that I used as resources when friends and family came to visit. I love that you share “what’s coming up” instead of posting post-event articles & photos. That truly makes this blog unique. Cheers! Gail
My husband and I are relocating to Nevada City in Jan. I love reading your blog posts to learn about our soon-to-be new community and all the amazing events taking place. Can’t wait to join in some of the events in the future!
Shared on FB/Insta/Twitter! You rock Erin!
I love your blog! I have discovered new wonderful hiking trails through your blog and love looking to it for new events happening in the area. But I have to say that the photographs on this blog are beautiful! They definitely capture the beauty of Nevada County. Thank you for your blog. I love reading it!
I absolutely love Nevada City! This blog makes me love it even more because it’s full of exciting places and events to visit and enjoy. You can’t go wrong with the greatness that is within Nevada City, thank you! *Sharing now
I grew up in Nevada city. Born there, and left in 1958. I recall this Inn north of town way back in those days. You have have done wonderful things with it! Thank you for the giveaway, if I win it will be a wonderful excuse to come back “Home” for a visit!
I have shared the love on FB <3

I shared this to Facebook!
Wow, have to scroll a long ways to get to point where a note can be given. So cool to see all of the responses.
this is awesome!
I love learning about all of the fun things happening in our little community. Some of my favorite things from this year — like taking my niece to the Railway Museum and riding the train — I learned about because of this blog. Thank you so much for all your hard work throughout the year!
Signed up for the email feed too 🙂
Nevada city is, to me anyway, the most special and unique place in the world. There’s really nothing like it. It’s home. I grew up on it’s streets and with its trees, and now I get to watch my children do the same.
For me, your blog is like checking in with a friend to see what’s happening with the rest of our crew and what exciting things are coming up. It’s personal and beautifully written and photographed.
Thank you for enriching our little slice of mountain paradise!

Holy moly — what a giveaway! I love the Outside Inn Blog and refer to the archives often to find the specifics about all of the gems we have in our wonderful community…
I am just blown away about how friggin’ much you cover in each of your blogs. If you do one on camps (i.e., the summer camp idea one) … you have pictures and details about SOOO many camps. I especially love how you cover the things that make this place SOOO unique and amazing – the Wild and Scenic film festival, summer river hikes, the fall colors even!! You really really do rock and I know it is A LOT of work to put together .. and you give our community such rich information and GREAT photos!! Thanks thanks!! And ps .. I WILL win this one of these days — and I still do promise to SHARE if i do!!
shared the love … posted on FB too!! Hoping one of my NON local peeps wins and they just HAVE to share with me before certificates expire? !!!
This looks amazing! Thank you for sharing all the beauty that Nevada City has to offer
I love your blog and useful information. The photographs help to remind me of the beautiful place I live. It helps to keep my informed about all the wonderful things happening in and around town. Thank you again and again.
Shared on facebook. Thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome giveaway!
I love that this blog is such a great resource for newbies to the area. While grew up visiting to hike Edwards Crossing or Victorian Christmas but that’s about it, and moving up here as an adult and trying to get to know more about resources and events in the area in such a festive and positive forum is what I love most about this blog! Just wish i had known about it during the first 2 years and remembered to subscribe earlier!
And of course as a photography enthusiast myself, I LOVE all the great photos 🙂
I am so grateful for this blog. I share it with my friends and family when they visit so that they know about all of the amazing things we can do together in our amazing little town. I know it is a lot of work to run an Inn (and a campground!) while also maintaining a blog that is a voice for the community. Thank you, Erin, for being the go-to source for things to do in Nevada City and Grass Valley!
I really can only do my small slice of being the voice for the community, I will admit that the campground did impact my ability to cover as many events as years past. But, still doing what I love. Thanks for playing along.
This is one of the many reasons I love my community. I’ve never lived in a place that is not only so welcoming, but so giving in definitely more ways than one. I love this so much, and I would be tremendously grateful if I won!
Agreed… on all levels. Our community is giving on so many levels, I’m so thankful to be a part of it.
I just saw this post on FB. I love everything about Nevada City. My family has been coming up here since 1976. I still want to make it to the Victorian Christmas, that is still on my to do list. What I learned this year is that they have a film festival.
We have several film festivals, the Wild & Scenic and the Nevada City Film Festival, both great events. 4 more opportunities for Victorian Christmas this year… thanks for entering.
Victorian Christmas. I also shared on twitter and Facebook.
It’s a fun event, enjoy your holidays in Nevada City.
I also shared on Pinterest and liked your page on Facebook:) spending Christmas in Nevada City.
Just discovered you & the blog through fb friend…I would love to come back to Cali & check out this awesome town!
Plenty of armchair travel opportunities for you to figure out what to do when you get a chance to come visit (although this prize would provide you a great catalyst to make it happen).
Shared the love on Facebook! Happy Holidays!!!
I shared on Facebook!
I have lived in this small area for most of my life and it still amazes me how many small wonders are still new to me.
You know that was the catalyst for the blog… growing up here, but then living abroad for 6 years, I realized I needed to go rediscover my own hometown…and I can tell you 6 years later, the blog has led me to all sorts of adventures and new businesses and fun events that I’m not sure I would have experienced otherwise. You should go read the post on the Points of Historical Interest….
I love being updated on the activities and events of our amazing hometown! I feel so lucky to have grownup in such a great community, and I love the way your blog connects everyone. I love your pictures you post of the fall colors, and all your Christmas pictures. Some of my favorite events are the Wild and Scenic Film Festival and of course Victorian Christmas! Your passion for supporting local businesses and promoting events makes me so happy and excited to be a part of this community. Keep sharing the joy and spreading the love for our town. I can’t wait to stay in the Inntown Campground this summer. Thank you for all the happiness you spread!
It’s so great to hear that you think I’m spreading happiness… and I appreciate the Instagram love, but I agree it does make us all appreciate the greater community.
What I love about the blog is that even while I’m away for college I can still keep up on what’s happening in town and of course look at the beautiful pictures Erin takes. It always makes me proud of our town and excited to come home. I feel like the blog, website and social media posts Erin runs really connects us all to Nevada City and to each other. Would love to win this for my momma.
So glad to have you be a part of the greater Nevada City community, and yes, I’m sure anyone in your family would appreciate all (or some) of this goodie basket.
Happy Holidays! Thanks for your beautiful photos and information on local activities and businesses.
Thank you.
The Outside Inn blog is a part of NC! Love the weather pics! So glad the Outside Inn is a choice for people in NC & the blog provides special information!
Trying to figure out what is considered a weather picture? As I look outside and go, “Definitely not photographing much in this downpour.” Thanks for playing along.
Rain, snow or sleet… Makes me think of the year the Mardi Gras parade was in the pouring rain. Happy holidays.
Shared on Facebook and sent around the love. Loved it since age 14 and still love it at almost 60 this month!
Glad you are a Nevada City fan for life.
Love it!!
I so enjoy the photographs posted by your blog! I love the beautiful colorful trees on your property at the Outside Inn and the photographs of our beloved Yuba River at different times of the year, as well as pictures of happenings around town. Your pictures are always positive and give me a good feeling in my life. I always click on them knowing I will have an uplifting experience. I enjoy seeing pictures of the happenings in town because at times I have missed events, and yet I get a taste of what went on through your photographs. Thank You! You are the photographic journalist of our town!
I’m so glad I can help bring you positiveness, that makes me happy to hear.
The photos! They are expert and evoke emotion, which is really art! They connect me to my roots, though I live away, for now. This blog is better than the Union (and free) for all things home. Thank you Erin!!
Thanks Tyson… Waving hello to you in Seattle… maybe you need to come camping with us next time you’re home?
I have shared this on Facebook. I ❤ Outside Inn!
I have been getting your weekly updates on facebook, and appreciate the “What’s happening this week in Nevada City” and the gorgeous pictures. Thank you. I am now signed up for your blog updates.
Thanks, glad to hear you’ll get the blog to your in box, although I still share via Facebook.
Shared with love on my facebook biz page… Thanks for all that you do for our community! Much love…
Thank you Darby for being a part of the fun.
I shared this on facebook as well 🙂
My odds were SO much better the first year. Why do we have to have so many outsiders ruining everything for our little town? Thanks Obama!!!! (please note my extreme sarcasm and know that I no longer live in Nevada County, so am now myself an outsider). Jokes aside, I love this annual giveaway. Thank you for all the great things you do for Nevada County, my home away from home.
I miss you!! Come back and be my “yes girl” who I dragged on countless blog missions.
I love your blog because it keeps me in touch with everything I miss in Nevada County. I recently moved out of the area…if it weren’t for reading your blog and facebook posts, as well as listening to KVMR ,streaming, I’d miss it so much more than I do. I made many memories with family and friends here, and come back to the area to visit when I can. Your photos, words and sentiments echo mine. In fact, my son proposed to his girlfriend in downtown N.C. last Sunday beneath the twinkling glow of the lights of Victorian Christmas. Two generations of our family now have a romantic attachment to this sweet little gem in the Sierras. Thanks!
Congratulations, how exciting that there will be a wedding in your future. So glad to hear that I’m helping keep the Nevada City love alive.
Shared on fb…keeping my fingers crossed for the win!!!
The Outside Inn is fab, the In Town Campground awesome. Just sayin…
Thank you.
Thank you for this opportunity to enter your amazing giveaway! Erin I think my favorite thing about your blog is the beautiful photos that make me feel proud yo call this town my home. Thanks for that. Cheers to the lucky winner!
We’re all lucky, but it is good to be reminded of that, happy holidays.
I was planning a shoot to take pictures of all the locations around Nevada City shown in The Christmas Card movie for a blog post and found yours! So helpful!
https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/hallmark-movie-the-christmas-card-locations.htm
Oh, I need to send you the campground photos, must remember that. Can’t wait to see your Hallmark locations photo shoot.
I love this blog because it reminds me of how lucky I was to have grown up in such a magical little town. Plus, the photos sure are pretty to look at.
Thanks sis.
Hi Erin, Your photos are the best and I often find myself sharing them on facebook! Your enthusiasm for Nevada City is unequaled! We who live in this charming community thank you for all that you and your family do to make NC and surrounds so inviting! Happy Holidays!
Thank you Linda, there are plenty of other amazing cheerleaders for our fabulous community, not to worry. But thank you for the volunteering work you do and the fact that every time I see you you give me a compliment.
Retweeted, great job you do spotlighting this community!
Thanks!
Who needs Oprah’s favorite things when we have Erin? What I love best about your blog is your passion and commitment to it — always endlessly inspiring. Thanks for all you do.
Oh Moira… how I miss you so. Endlessly inspiring, chuckling…
Wow what a gift giveaway. I love how community involved your blog is, you include Grass Valley and Lots of surrounding towns not just our beautiful Nevada City. The photos are stunning and the information is current and includes so many fun things to do, which we sometimes forget about when you live her. I enjoy every email and always read them. Thanks for your hard work and community service, your heart is on the outside not inn ❤️️.
You make me smile with the reference to where my heart lies.
Wow, what a awesome goodie box! I have to say what you have done with the outside Inn is so wonderful, wish I could do something like you guys have done. Your blog is also amazing as well as the ig post. Keep up the good work, happy holidays!
Greetings– thanks for following along the adventures online and Instagram.
The stunning photos always capture the essence of our special town. This blog is one of the first things I share with our Airbnb guests and also with my real estate clients. Thank you Erin, for all the time an energy put into this gem of a blog. Best wishes to you and your family this holiday season!
Thank you Julie, so good to hear that you’re sharing the love through your guests and clients.

Thank you for the opportunity to enter. My favorite post was about Briarpatch, in remembering that they offer some really awesome cooking classes. Additionally, the coffee ones too, cause I enjoy coffee. My favorite event, is the movies in the Pines. Love volunteering with the film festival (aka Jessie L). I can’t say I learned about anything new, as I’m pretty familiar with home and the events here. Here’s the link to Briarpatch Post: https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/briarpatch-cooking-classes.htm/
Thanks Ann, so fun to hear what resonates with different people. And maybe you’ll win the prize and get a free cooking class?
Shared the love and also on your email feed. 🙂
I LOVE NEVADA CITY!! The Outside Inn’s Blog, is Fabulous for finding out what is happening in town. Speaking of Inn Town, I am so excited for the first season, of the INNTown Campground.
I mostly like looking at all the beautiful photographs, taken of the Yuba Rive.
Thanks for being a part of the campground team Paige, your enthusiasm for our campground is much appreciated. Yuba… right, must get on that pronto.
I love the pictures of the Nevada City area you show on the blog!!!
Thank you.
What a wonderful giveaway this year! The Outsideinn blog has been one of my go-to places for great ideas since I started spending time in the Nevada County. The post about Riverhill Farm berry picking made my summer. Berry picking is something I didn’t grow up doing, but for the past handful of years I have found myself in Oregon during berry season and I have made a point to go pick. This year however, I was kept in California and I thought I had to let go of my berry picking love, but thanks to your post I spent an afternoon gorging myself at Riverhill Farm.
I love reading these comments… my friend took our boys on that adventure (b/c we were weeks away from opening the campground), so not only was it a gift to eat their bounty, have her share her photos with me and therefore the blog, but now I know that we inspired others too. Thank you.
Liked on Facebook and shared!
The blog is so informative about one of the most unique towns in CA. I got married 26 years ago 12/31/1990 1 in Nevada City at the Methodist Church at the top of the hill, horse drawn carriage from Church to the National Hotel! The blog highlights the local businesses and happenings of this romantic sweet town! I love all the photos! And, I love that there is this beautiful new little camp ground, The Outside Inn to stay at the next time we’re passing through! Now I live in Nashville Tennessee but follow the blog to still feel a part of the local scene!
Thank you! So glad to hear you still hold a special spot for Nevada City, you should come for a visit!
I shared the give away on fb♡☆♡
I think my favorite posts were all the photos of your new campground that you shared. It just made me feel like I was back home and in my woods. I will be home from June until the end of the year and look forward to being in Nevada County again. Papua New Guinea is nothing like it.
And here I am thinking I haven’t done enough to share the campground through the Outside Inn’s blog (ha ha, guess I’m wrong). I’m sure those little people in your world will appreciate you being a bit closer, glad to know we’re helping you feel a part of the community from afar.
I love how the Outside Inn showcases all the things that make our community such a life-enhancing place. And the photography is second-to-none.
Thank you. Life-Enchancing is a great way to describe our community.

Thank you my friend, I still think of when you guys told me you used the blog to figure out where to pick your Christmas tree and I was surprised b/c that was an old post… I forget how people use it from time to time. Holiday cheer to your family.
And naturally, I also was pleased to share the joy on Twitter 🙂
This being my first year here the blog has shown me so many new and interesting things about our lovely community!! And the photos are great : ) Thank a million!!
Welcome! And if you run out of things to do, there’s always the archive of 2011, 2012, 2013….

Thanks, always something happening in Nevada City.
I absolutely love seeing what’s going on in Nevada city, my kids and I love to be outside and the inn is absolutely perfect for adventuring outdoors. We love the inn for helping us make those special memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for a great opportunity!

What’s not to love about this town & your blog? With all the amazing scenery and events happening in this little town, how can you do it all. Thank you Erin for all you do to to share everything this incredible town has to offer & bring the community together. Happy holidays to all.
Thank you. I love Nevada City, but it’s always fun to hear what other people love too… We do live in an amazing community.
Love the blog and all the info! We stayed at the Outside Inn cottage for our June wedding this year and loved it! It was perfect for us and our guests. We used the oversized deck to organize and put together all the flower arrangements the morning of our wedding. It was so pretty and just what we always imagined. Our favorite events so far are local wine tasting and Victorian Christmas! My favorite blog post would have to be the Inn Town Campground. Can’t wait to visit and bring our vintage camper trailer! Thanks for being awesome. Xo, the newlyweds
Yeah!!! Love to see your vintage trailer (I have such #trailerenvy), maybe for your anniversary? Can’t go wrong with wine tasting… thanks for playing along.
Definitely shared the ❤️!!
My husband and I have only had 2 date nights in the last 4 years and born times we were lucky enough to stay at the outside inn. We love it here!!
Well this would be more then one date night if you won… So glad you’re a fan of the Outside Inn.
I couldn’t possibly pick one favorite blog post. I love them all. I’m a huge fan of locally sponsored events…..both big and small. And I can always find the best of the best on this blog! Thank you so much for all you do for this community!
Thank you, you didn’t really have to pick one, but I really do enjoy hearing what resonates with folks throughout the year.
I enjoy the beautiful pictures and the sense of community your blog represents. It makes me so proud to live in the little town!
That makes me happy to hear, there is an amazing community here, this giveaway is a great example of it.
I love the outside inn blog! The detailed information and phonamonal photos posted make you feel like you are experiencing it first hand. Great resource and motivation for locals to explore the lovely Nevada City.

My favorite outside inn post is the post about sugar loaf mountain! It is a great view of NC!
Thanks.
I’ve just today discovered your blog and have enjoyed all the great information and beautiful pictures you’ve shared. I’m inspired to spend more time in NC and am looking forward to next week’s Victorian Christmas. Thank you for showcasing your town so beautifully!!
I hope you enjoy Victorian Christmas… come early and budget extra time looking for parking. The giveaway post is definitely a great first step in terms of the fun on the blog, but definitely look back in the archives for more local fun.
Welcome, hope you enjoy…

I love how I recognize the people and places in your posts! Viva Nevada City!
My dad calls it “where’s Waldo” when he tries to find his grandkids in the blog… they make appearances, on occasion… so good to hear that you’re also playing the spot the ____ game.
I shared on the facebook too!

Your blog gives me great ideas to do when family comes to visit, and I love the photography.

I don’t get to Nevada City very often but I love it when I can visit. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
I love the photography in the blog and enjoy knowing what’s going on in town. I subscribed to the email list. Also liked your Facebook page ❤️
I always read your blog as soon as I see it in my in-box–even if I’m in a bad mood, the beautiful photos and your obvious love of Nevada County bring a smile to my face and I then feel good. Plus, I find out about things happening that I didn’t previously know–even though I often know much of what is happening in town. Your showcase of area merchants is wonderful and your warm-hearted writing about places, people and events is a joy to read. But most of all, I have to say the photos you include are what really catch my attention. Colorful, careful attention to focus, person and place, and they wonderfully showcase our beautiful, charming county. I guess I could say that your blog is “love made real.”
I love Outside Inn and Nevada City. I love your Facebook page and how you share what’s going on. I love how beautiful the city is and Victorian Christmas. This year we discovered Constitution Day and had so much fun at the reenactment site in the beautiful park. It was very educational for all of us, especially the kids and my boys loved the musket drills. I love the old buildings in town too. Thank you!
I love the celebration of our community here … gorgeous photos and good will abound!
Shared and would ❤️To wim.
Charm. The wonderful return to the past of our town you have shared has been amazing see. I worked at Alpha Hardware in Nevada City in the early 1970’s and you have helped to retain not only the charm of our area but the feeling. Most grateful.

I love reading your blog, and following your artistic and informative instagram accounts. I live over in Placerville, but Nevada City is my feel-good home and your posts always tell me exactly what to do when I go on my adventures to NC.
I’ve been following your beautiful creation of the Inn Town Campground, and you and it is obvious that your family’s love for the outdoors flows through everything. From the glamping tent decor to the craft marshmallows, you really think of everything!
My favorite post has been the Summer Kid Friendly Activities – “https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/summer-kid-friendly-activities.htm/”. You sparked so many fun times, thank you! I’m still referring back to it 🙂
Hi Erin! Good job on putting this together, as usual! What an amazing community we have here. A friend of mine recently moved here after I told her about what fantastic people make up the community here and she couldn’t agree more.
My favorite blog posts you do are always the ones in Fall. It is my favorite time of year here (although Christmas time is equally amazing) because of the picturesque colors and you are able to capture it beautifully. Thank you for all you do!

Bear Yuba Land Trusted hosted a Trail Care Crew from IMBA and we needed to provide the team with housing. We were scrambling to find a good spot and Outside Inn stepped up and accommodated the crew! We are so grateful to have this wonderful Inn in our community! Thanks Outside Inn for all you do for our little village! Your generosity helped build new trails and educate our community on how to be good trail stewards.
Thank you Shaun, it was great to have the IMBA trail crew at the motel, such a great project.
Nevada city has always been one of my favorite places to visit. Since discovering the Outside Inn and the visit Nevada city blogs I’ve discovered even more reasons to be smitten by the beauty and abundance of all that is Nevada city! The Outside Inn blog is where I search when I’m trying to figure out what’s coming up. You do such a great job of capturing events and providing great info. I know what goes into having a blog, so my hat is off to you!
Wow, what a giveaway! What I love most about the blog, and your instagram, is your infectiously-positive attitude. I have moments where I yearn for the sea, or crave wide open spaces, but you continue to remind me of the beauty in my backyard. Thanks for that. ♥
I love reading about the area even though I live here you have shown me things I didn’t know about. I love the idea of the inn town campground and will recommend it to my friend who visit. Keep up the awesome job. Merry Christmas
Erin, your giveaways just keep getting better and better. They give such a wonderful nod to all the amazing local businesses in our community! My favorite posts of yours are usually the ones involving wine or the ones that showcase our incredible artists, though your Riverhill post might be your most beautiful.
Happy holidays!
I love your photos of Nevada City, and hearing about things that are happening. And I love walking by your place. Thanks for being there.
I absolutely love the pictures you post. I’ve lived here for 35 years and the pics always show me a new view and/or perspective.
I really enjoyed your blog on the Nevada County growers market last Spring, as well as all your beautiful local photos. Also exciting seeing your campground come together, congratulations friend! Thanks for all you do for the community, year round.
Hi Erin, I love the blog because it makes me feel like I am up in my favorite place–Nevada City – even when I am down in the valley. I love your pictures and updates on the weather and activities. We just booked two nights for next December in the inn so we can fully experience the Christmas festivities up there and curl up by the fire or hop in the big tub at the Cabin rather than having to drive down the hill. Shared the giveaway on facebook too!
Love the blog, especially all the great ideas for events and activities!

Wow! The responses on this comment thread alone are pretty uplifting! I feel like I’ve won already! This blog is a huge part of what brings and keeps people in our town. What a wonderful showcase of or awesome community. I love that this little blog is not only geared for tourism but can also be used as a tool for locals. Find a good movie or new shop to support. Or, check out some strange new event ran by a stellar organization. I love the outside Inn blog and I love Nevada city! Thanks for all the support. And the story on the craft fair! What a wonderful event! What a wonderful blog! What a wonderful world!

Your blog is always filled with interesting information about the area. I’ve lived here many years and am still seeing new things on your blog. It is always interesting. I also like your summer veggie stand at the Inn!
Thanks Janet, the free veggie cart brings so much joy, it’s a constant reminder of how giving our community is… so glad you’re finding things (I feel the same way too)>

So many things to love about this blog… I like the photos. I like the outside focus. I like the community building. I like it all, really. 🙂 Keep up the good work!
Thank you my friend… Look forward to you coming to visiting and enjoying some of this fine small town.
I so miss all the wonderful events in Nevada City and reading your blogs and seeing your photos on FB always bring back such great memories. My recent favourite was the Victorian Christmas blog. I used to work at j.j.jackson’s for many years and remember those fun evenings and the Sunday celebration fondly. So, thank you. And if I didn’t have so many friends to stay with when I come back to visit every year, I would definitely be staying at the Outside Inn! Merry Christmas from Shannon in Port Townsend, WA.
I just signed up for your newsletter. Thanks!
Favorite picture is from Presidents Day and how it instantly creates a time machine effect of going to my uncles old glass blowing shop as a kid. Great memories with great people in one of the more beautiful places in Ca. Excited to be able to take my kids and show them that history.
I love seeing the town, our town, my town through someone else’s eyes…a reminder of the privilege it is to live here in a community that is engaged and vibrant and beautiful
I love following Outside Inn on social media because you bring me the best of my hometown through every season. I miss being there but I love every snapshot you share and they make me feel so connected! Thank you!
Glad we’re giving you a window into life in NC.
I love your blog because it keeps me in touch with what’s going on in Nevada County. I’ve been staying at the Outside Inn since I was a little kid and we’re there a few times a year. Can’t wait for the pool at the Inn Town Campground next summer though! See you in a few weeks for the Wild and Scenic Film Festival 🙂 Woo hoo!
Oh the pool…. it’s going to be fabulous. You’ll have to see if you can go back to camping after going glamping. See you lovely ladies soon for WSFF.
The incredible number of comments you have received on this post says it all. I love that the blog showcases the wide variety of things that make our community such a special place to live and visit. From the arts, to the trails, to the stories behind local businesses, it is a reminder of all the good around us. Thank you!
Thank you Brett.
my favorite is your pictures! they remind me not to take any of this for granted <3
That rings true…. I think of the fact that I grew up here and probably didn’t appreciate our community as much as I did in my youth… happy holidays.
Best Little Big Thing in Nevada City is the Outside Inn! Love all the rooms, and even us locals can sometimes use a “getaway”!
Thank you for the holiday cards to include in the giveaway, Merry Christmas.
I have indeed shared the love, and wish you the very best for Christmas and 2017!
I shared the love on Pinterest!
Love all the wonderful pictures. We are fairly new to the area. Your blog, and Instagram pictures give us ideas for places to go in Nevada City, and the surrounding area. Thank you!
P.S. Tried to enter earlier. If that post goes through please disregard this one.
Thanks Bonny, only one, so you’re good. Happy exploring the area.
What I love about this blog is that every single day I can see something fun and cool to do along with beautiful pictures of our wonderful community I call home! This is an amazing place in the world we live in and, Erin, you always capture it so well! Thank you for sharing! Happy holidays!
@visitnevadacity @outsideinn and @inntowncampground help me feel like I’m still there when I can’t be! I love seeing all the places and businesses that I didn’t know about. The feeds are a great resources when I bring friends to the area. Thanks for all the great info!!
Thanks Jeanette, love seeing your images from Nevada City.
I love that, even though I’ve lived here half my life, your blog still tells me wonderful things to explore! I also appreciate that your blog really communicates the small town feel to others.
I have followed this blog for a while now (I particularly love the Instagram account), and when this contest came up I started to think of what my favorite post was. And I thought. And I thought. And I scrolled and re-read. And then thought some more. Then, I decided that I can’t choose a favorite, because this town can’t be summed up in one blog post, one event, or one photo.
I’ve lived in this town for over 10 years now, grew up here, and have since moved away for college- and trust me I miss it all the time. Nevada City shaped who I am as a person, and introduced me to some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. So, my answer is there is no best post, I can provide you no link, and I can’t pinpoint my favorite part of the blog. What I can tell you is that this town isn’t just a town, it’s a home.
This makes me smile. Thank you. Happy holidays.
I just discovered this blog and very excited about it. I’m new to Nevada City and its just what I need to find out about local events!!
Happy exploring of Nevada City, there’s a slew of ideas in the archives…
My favorite part about the blog (and following on Instagram) are by far the way Nevada City is talked about with such love. My dad grew up here and when we came to look at Miners Foundry as a venue for our January (2017!!!) wedding, there was no debate – that was it for us. We’re so full of gratitude for the people of this city – all of our vendors/everyone we have worked with have been the kindest, warmest people we have ever met. Nevada City is so special and we can’t be more excited that it will forever be the most special place to us. See you in a couple weeks, Erin!
Xo – your January bride! 🙂
Thank you Colby, we’re so excited to host you and your wedding crew for your upcoming wedding, I’m confident you’ll be very happy with the Foundry. Thanks for playing along with my giveaway!
My momma would die for this <3 so great how you got so many businesses in there.
We live in a generous community. Happy holidays.
i love the community here and the feeling that i am always being watched out for. growing up here has truly been a blessing. this beautiful little haven with have a spot in my heart forever. i have also shared this on facebook, what an amazing opportunity!
Thank you, it is a special little haven.
I discovered this blog last year and am so grateful for it! In summer you posted local hiking trails and I went to the ones you posted with my family and had a wonderful time. I’ve lived here my whole life and am still discovering new things through this blog :).
That’s great to hear!! And to think there are still plenty of trails and adventures I have yet to discover myself, 2017 goals.
My favorite part about this blog is the wonderful photography that photographs the everyday parts of Nevada City, and showing the beauty of where we live! Seeing your photos are my favorite part of the day! Shared on facebook
Thanks for entering, so many great parts about Nevada City, if only I could share more.
I love getting pictures of home while I’m at school. Especially being able to see the seasons change when I don’t have a chance to come home to see the leaves change and the river swell and downtown all decorated for something. 🙂 It makes me so happy every time a blog post shows up in my inbox. I always make my friends come look at the photos of my town.
So great to run into you in SPD, you made it through all the comments…. now did you get a new Icebreaker top too? Glad to know I’m keeping you up to speed with the seasonal fun of all things Nevada City.
My favorite part about this blog is how it really captures all that this lovely little town is<3
I would hardly say all, but I try to make it around, if only had a whole team of people!
What an amazing give away! My family has been going to the Victorian Christmas in Nevada City for a few years now and we loved the Craft fair this year ❤ I made sure to pintrest this
Victorian Christmas is fun and the Craft Fair this year was full of amazing artists, thanks for playing along.
What I love about your blog and instagram is how informative you are about things happening in our awesome county!! And not only that but I do love your photos, support of all things local, and just the general delight of living in a small town and how glad it makes me to live here and raise my son here. Thank you!!
Thank you.
My favorite posts this year were about the evolution of the Inn Town Campground. You and Dan did an amazing job, and it was fun watching it grow from the ground on up!
Thank you Nora, always good to have the fabulous advice and sage wisdom of your husband too.
Shared this page on Pinterest, too. Fingers crossed!
I always enjoy your posts and photography focusing on the Yuba River.
Well it helps when you drag me to the river… the warmer season photo sessions are a little easier then the last raging water river photos. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I shared this page on Facebook.
Hello, love your blog and Nevada City! We live in North Lake Tahoe, Alpine Meadows and our day trip is usually to Nevada City to walk and shop and have a wonderful lunch at Three Forks! Hope I win the giveaway
You’d definitely have to come for a longer than a day if you won this whole basket…
Shared to my FB! ✌️
We love the Outside Inn and of course the blog. We especially like it when keeping the beautiful Yuba River clean is shared, discussed and advertised such as the blog about SYRCL. Thank you Outside Inn!!!
Thanks, the river is a special place and it does take all of us educating and reminding both visitors and locals on how to look after it.
We also shared on Facebook!
We love Nevada City and The Outside Inn. Reading the Blog sorta keeps us up to date on the Happenings. The Prize would be such a cool way to explore the Town while staying at the Outside Inn.
I lovw this blog! And of course, I love and support all of the local businesses in Nevada County.
Wow! I shared with my Facebook friends! Thank you for putting this contest together and for all your amazing blog posts! Happy Holidays!
Erin! The work you do in the community is invaluable. I routinely gush over your gorgeous shots and love how you capture the sweetness of this unique, charming, generous, and beautiful place we get to call home. I love staying in the know through your blog and really appreciate your tireless work/passion. I loved the Visual Storytelling workshops you and Nevada City Film Festival put on earlier this year. Thanks for the great work you do. Thanks for celebrating local. I hope you have the happiest of holidays!
I’ve shared on Facebook. Thank you for all you do for our community
I love the Outside Inn’s InnSide Nevada City blog for all the information you share. You also help so many small businesses to get their names out there. In going through the list of sponsors, I found several businesses that I never knew existed! Now I do! Thank you
I love the Outside Inn Blog – whenever I try and explain how wonderful our community is I direct them to your blog and say “better pictures and explanation than I can do here!”
I love the support of local businesses! Thanks Erin!
I miss my home town of 49yrs. Had to move recently and really enjoy your pics on your blog. Will also share on facebook.
Sorry you get homesick, but glad I can provide some armchair travel….
There are so many great blog posts about events in our community and places to explore it’s hard to pick one! I enjoyed reading about the Inn Town campground. I think it’s a wonderful addition to our community!
Thank you! The campground is really a fabulous addition to our community, but I admit I’m a tad bias. Thanks for playing along with this year’s Grateful Giveaway, it’s okay if you don’t have a favorite.
Officially shared the love!!!!! This is fantastic!!!
I love the photos of our breathtaking little town. Brilliant!
Wow!! Somebody is going to win BIG!! I love most all on the list!! The movie The Christmas Card is my favorite Christmas movie!!
I have been following your blog for about 5 years now. I love how you do such a fantastic job of spotlighting local businesses; your photography and ability to encapsulate a business and it’s owners in a succinct and compelling way is truly a gift to this community! I remember running out to check out new businesses that you have spotlighted here. I get almost giddy to see a brand new business popping up. Hopefully that trend will continue.
I tell everyone who asks me what I think about living here: “I find a new reason to love this place EVERY SINGLE DAY.” It is truly magical, and I am so grateful! ✨✨
Always excited to read your new blogs to find another new place that I have never knew exsisted. Thanks Erin!
I love this blog! It gives you all the happenings around our area! Plus goes there and takes pics and gives you a first hand report! This is a very nice way to bring the people and the events together! Thanks
Thanks, glad you appreciate.
My favorite part must be this post!!! So many examples of why this place is amazing ♡ reading everyone’s comments and it makes me smile and adventurous to check out a few new places
I 100% agree… I realize there’s a large prize attached to this post and most people would most likely something nice, but it’s so refreshing at this time of the year to have such a outpour of positiveness and appreciation of our small little community.
I enjoy this blog very much! Lucky to have you guys in our town
Thank you!
You’re an amazing photographer that captures our vibrant community! As a 3rd generation & raising the 4th generation I honor and value what you’ve done to provide unity, local spirit, history, with just an awesome cool-factor. Thank you!
Awesome cool-factor, laughing… I do have local spirit though, but really, our town provides so much inspiration, it’s hard not to share. Many thanks for appreciating the work that goes into the blog.
I have liked your page and shared this post
I just shared on FB…would LOVE to see a friend or family win this!
https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/fall-colors-walk-2.htm/
One of my favorite posts! Love the fall colors here
Oh the colors are so fabulous, I feel like I share too many fall colors photos, so I’m glad to hear that I haven’t gone too overboard.
The Outside Inn is absolutely my favorite place to stay in my favorite getaway town. That’s largely due to Erin’s warmth, hospitality, and enthusiasm for Nevada City. She’s got a go to list of activities any given day. We can’t wait to come up for the Wild and Scenic film festival in January, and we
can’t wait to try out the Inn Town campground next summer. Thanks for all you do, Erin!
Maeve, you are the gal who comes to town and does it all, I get to space out my bucket list, yet somehow you manage to squeeze it all in the span of a weekend! Look forward to having you guys return in the new year.
Definitely too many good articles and photos to pick from. My favorite part, though, is Erin’s “voice” in the research and writing of each piece. You can see from the mix of responses that they are from the widest range of audience possible. Newbies and old timers feel equally included. Everybody invited and enticed equally by your choice of topics and your way of presenting them. That balance of a personality that’s clear and inviting combined with a neutrality and clarity of perspective makes this blog work so well.
Thank you Ed, I so appreciate this. Looking forward to the photographer meet up in the New Year.

Looking forward to visiting Nevada City. I haven never heard of Three Gingers Baking Co. can’t wait to try it.
Thanks (and glad to hear you weren’t too cold in your glamping tent over Thanksgiving). Three Gingers is new, they only opened their online and event based cupcakes and pies this fall. We had their mini pies for our holiday party and they were a huge hit, I’d recommend the pecan pies.
I have to say that my favorite aspect of the blog is the behind the scenes moments when I run into you around town and at events collecting photos and stories.
Happy holidays!
Mackenzie
Thanks Mackenzie, it is handy to run into people I know out and about without having to explain myself, so thanks for your continued support.
Shared with gratitude on my Facebook page!
Happy Holidays!!!!
Thanks, same to you.
my favorite post is the Victorian Christmas one because I know many of the people in the Victorian Singers group…and their costumes are so fun to see!
There are a number of people who use this blog to play the game of I spy, that and the postcard series I have… so glad to know that you enjoyed the post on Victorian Christmas, it’s a great event.
Nevada City Native and I still look forward to each blog post. I’m constantly amazed at all the beautiful things and places that are posted that I had never known before. Thank You Outside Inn!
Thank you, I agree… I felt that way when I finally stopped and read a few of the plaques for the post a couple years ago on the Points of Historical Interest… how many times had I walked by that same plaque… Happy Holidays.
How long it took me to scroll to the bottom of this post shows the level of love we locals have for your blog, Erin. I can always count on reminders of how cool, passionate and delicious a place we live in through your posts. Thanks for lots of goodness in 2016, friend.
Thanks Jenny… And I still think if I spy you out and about then my mission is truly complete.
I love that it’s our Grandpa’s place to stay every year, and the great photos you post
And things to do!
So looking forward to seeing Bob again for the holidays. Thanks for entering the giveaway.
