HAALo, Sierra Botanica, Sierra Santuary

HAALo, Health Alternatives for All Locals, recently opened their community herb shop in a new location at 412 Commercial St, Nevada City.  The shop provides Nevada County with medicinal herbs and herbal body care products made from Nevada City herbalists.  Almost all of their products are local, including ingredients from 30 nearby farms growing over 100 varieties of herbs. Taya Malakian, from Floracopeia, recently gave a free educational class about how to make natural skin care products using natural oils.  Floracopeia is a local business that works with small distillers around the world to provide high quality essential oils through fair trade exchange. You can sample Floracopeia products at HAALo or sit in on one of the free classes, Wednesdays from 1-1:30. These weekly classes offer fun and practical suggestions on the wide range of uses of essential oils and aromatherapy.  To celebrate the new location of HAALo Floracopeia is offering one InnSide Nevada City blog reader a 10% off their products in the HAALo shop, or if you don’t live locally, a 25% off coupon to their products online (valid only for new customers).  Please post a comment on this blog post on your favorite essential oil and I’ll draw a winner on Wednesday, July 4th.

I just started getting poison oak after a zillion years of being untouched! Shea and her staff made me some herbal tea and recommended goldenseal. I made a paste of apple cider vinegar and the goldenseal and it was better within 24 hours!
    Floracopeia’s oils are delicious!

Hmmmm FAVORITE essential oil eh? That is difficult because I have fav’s for different applications…Perhaps right now I would say Ocimum basilicum.
Basil has been a tremendous ally working on transgenerational issues particularly in the area of boundaries and allergies. I take oil dispersion baths in her using a very unique apparatus that finely disperses the oil in the tub and charges the water with vortices.
HAALo is just what we have needed here! Thank you to Shea and the rest of the lovely women and men who have made it happen and for sharing your knowledge so freely. Blessed Be!
