Sierra Stages kicks off their summer season with the James and the Giant Peach.  The musical is based on the popular Roald Dahl book and is an entertaining story for the whole family to enjoy.  The play follows James Henry Trotter’s adventures from the orphanage to his evil aunts’ house to a magical adventure with give unusual insects.  Opening night is Thursday, July 12th and the play continues at the historic Nevada Theatre through August 4th.  Directed by Robert Rossman, music direction by Ken Getz and including a cast including: Micah Cone, Kate Haight, Danny McCammon, Bren Altenbach, Darrell Hovander, Tina Marie Kelley, Susan Mason, Dawn Simmons, Angela Williams, Audrey Delgado, Katie Dorland, Triston Druktenis, Vicki Goss, Jozi Gullickson, Reyn Smith, Mimi Vishoot and Jasper Waters.

You can purchase tickets online or if you’re interested in attending the Pay What You Can performance on Thursday, July 19th, please note that the box office opens at 6pm and the tickets are for sale by cash only on a first-come, first-served basis.

Words and music for James and the Giant Peach are by Academy Award-winning songwriting team behind the musicals A Christmas Story and the movies La La Land and The Greatest Showman, so this is a treat to have a chance to see the play in action in downtown Nevada City.  The Outside Inn blog has 2 tickets to give away (for either July 20th or 21st show), post a comment here and I’ll announce the winner on Monday, July 16th.  Edited to say the winner is Kathy Dotson.
