Nevada City First Friday Art Walk
First Friday Art Walk returned to downtown Nevada City. This month the theme of the event was water with exhibits of beautiful artwork that represented water, fun water filled interactive kid friendly art activities and an art installation of “making waves” on Commercial Street and more. Did you make it to the DANK opening reception? The pop up gallery featuring work by Sheila Cameron, Moira McLaughlin, Roseanne Burke, Reinette Senum, Nancy Nelson, Joe Meade, Cynthia Levesque, Kathy Frey, Dylan McConnell, Celiene Adrianna on Spring Street is open Saturday mornings 9am-1pm and will return for the August First Friday Art Walk (mark your calendars now, Friday, August 1st 5-9pm). Thanks to all the fabulous folks who make the Art Walk happen, if you don’t know Cynthia, stop in to the Neva Co Artisan Boutique and say hello. I loved listening to Paige Anderson and The Fearless Kin rock it out on the Commercial Street Boardwalk, we can all say “we knew them when” when they hit the big time. Photos in this blog post spotlight a few of the exhibits including Dawn Blanchfield, Della Helywood at Nevada City Winery, Neo, Cheek Thrills Face Painting, Outside Inn’s Chalk it Up, Treats’ Kidz Alley, Maren Metke at Phoenix Rose, Elixart, The Earth Store, Kathryn Wronski at Gray Goose, Alison Kirishian at Kitktidizzi with Sierra Moonshine beer on tap, plus Betsy Lombard at J.J. Jackson’s. What was your favorite part about the evening? Please post a comment and share and support local arts and music and our fabulous little town.

We had such a great time, wonderful opening at DANK and the music was amazing. Thanks Nevada City
I’m still getting and thinking about different points of view about the DANK Innaugural. It is definately worth it to go back for a 2nd and 3rd and 4th time. 🙂
I sure enjoy the pictures and coverage of the events. Thanks Erin!
Wonderful coverage of Artwalk again Erin, thank you! I especially enjoyed seeing & hearing Joe Meade at his installation!
Thanks Erin I love to see the “stories” you capture with your photos. I allows us to experience details we may have missed.
Unfortunately, we missed it this month, but I really love seeing so much art (even more than the excellent level we already have) in town. It’s also so nice to have Nevada City full of people enjoying the town and each other!
Ingrid, I agree. People saying hi, catching up and enjoying the Arts together…It’s pretty great!
Thanks Ingrid, you can come join the fun next month. Thanks for your continued support of the blog- have fun playing mini golf!
I was so impressed by all of the talented young musicians, both the Fearless Kin and all of the acts in the kids alley. The art was great, the people smiling, and it made me even more grateful to live in this amazing community that supports the arts.
Valerie, I couldn’t have said it better myself. The smiles and the conversation. Kids enjoying being outside and with each other. I love our town and the support our community shows for this event is so wonderful and awesome. I can’t believe there are only 3 more artwalks until the 2014 season is finished!
I’m glad you noticed the happy people, isn’t it amazing how it can make you smile too? Paige and her family are so talented, we are lucky to say they are from here!
Volunteering for this event has been such a joy and to see that everyone ejoys and celebrates the Artwalk events just as much as I so…..there are no words. Only cartwheels….and maybe some backflips…and then a sommersault for good measure.
I might call you on that one… love to see you doing somersaults down Broad Street.
Thank you Erin for capturing the event so nicely, as you always do. It has been such hard work, but so rewarding organizing these Artwalks and I have been overjoyed with the amount of support from the community. The best part is being out and about and seeing so many smiling faces on folks enjoying art and music and seeing the participating businesses bustling on a Friday evening…makes it all worth it. Looking forward to the coming months; August 1st, September 5th, and October 3rd. I might be out and about with my latest Art Creation…my daughter who is due August 8th!
With pleasure Cynthia. While I certainly put in quite a few hours to make this post happen, it’s just the tip of the iceberg for the whole event. Happy to help celebrate the arts in Nevada City as a business sponsor, an active blogger and as friend of many of the artists.
The post looks so good! Our little town rocks! Thanks for including my photos! 🙂
I love that you captured me taking photos, there should be a prize for that….
