KVMR Celtic Festival
The 20th annual KVMR Celtic Festival is coming to the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley this weekend (September 30th-October 2nd). The slogan for the event is “Come for the music, stay for the magic” and if you’ve never been, it’s time to go experience the event first hand. To kick off the festivities this year the Celtic Festival is hosting their first Royal Tournament & Gathering of the Clans. The medieval tournament will feature full contact jousting, dancing horses, sword fights and hand to hand combat presented by the Imperial Knights. Honors to the winners will be presented by the King, Queen and their royal attendants.
This year’s headline musicians include:
Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas, The Elders, Wake the Dead, Molly’s Revenge, The Jeremiahs, MAC: McKasson, Alexander & Cotter, The Outside Track, Galen Fraser, The Angry Brians, Ha’Penny Bridge, SierraCapella and Jocelyn Pettit.
While the multiple stages provide plenty of opportunity to enjoy Celtic music, the event also has Scottish athletic games, marketplace, animals of the Celtic Lands, Living History, Kid’s area, Youth Arts, workshops and parades, traditional dance and lots of great food and beverages. For a full list of the schedule click here, festival gates are open Saturday 10am-10pm and 10am-8pm on Sunday. Are you planning on going? What was your favorite part about the event? Post a comment on this blog post and I’ve got 2 passes to give away, winner will be announced on Thursday, September 28th.

This is a great event! It is so much fun! Great music, food and games. And the costumes are awesome!!
your photos are a great representation of this wonderful festival! 🙂 Would love to go this year!
We’ve gone almost every year we’ve lived here – through fair weather, rain and heat. 🙂 I love sitting out on the grass with a pastie listening to the great music under the pines. It’s a fabulous event.
Animals of the Celtic Lands! I’ve dreamed of having a wolfhound since i was a little girl. 🙂
I’ve never been to the KVMR Celtic Festival. It looks fun and fantastic! Would love to have a good excuse to dump my ticket to tour the Golden 1 Center and come up to Nevada County, instead 😉
Looks so fun.
I know I’ll love the horses!
I just returned a week ago from Ireland and Scotland! I fell in love with the music! Then, thanks to The Outside Inn I learned about the KVMR Celtic Festival coming up and would love to receive the weekend passes! This will give me the opportunity to wear my new Royal Stewart Tartan skirt and continue the magic and music at the Nevada County Fairgrounds I enjoyed while on my journey through Scotland! Slainte!
Such a fun festival! We are truly lucky to live here with so much going on!
I’ve yet to attend the Celtic festival but it looks fun! My grandson would love this. Great pictures. Hope we get to go, thank you.
Thank you for offering. I would love to go again. The Elders are wonderful to hear along with all the other bands.
I’ve never been and have been wanting to go. Thanks for the reminder!
We have never been before, but my kids saw an ad for the jousting and really want to go!
We’ve been going to Celtic since before we moved here ten years ago! In fact – Kiana’s picture was used for the brochure and bookmarks one year!!
I love the MAGIC … the sense of being back in time …. the places of stillness … and places of FUN revelry!!
I love the Celtic Festival. I have spent the last two summers in Ireland and Scotland.
I love the music, it’s such a fun festival l and I haven’t been since I have moved back to Grass Valley! I would love the opportunity to go again!
I would love to win the tix!! My husband and I listen to Irish pub music at home all the time. It would be awesome to hear some live Irish music at my favorite fairgrounds in the world.
I would love to take my kids, but I hadn’t yet bought tickets. Better late than never, right?
I love the way i forget about my problems and get caught up in the world of magic
Our tiny house friends have invited us to come along with them to this festival! Being fellow tiny houses ourselves we like to get out and explore as much as possible! We never been but are excited to bring along our 1 year old with us! I’ve been listening to Celtic music from the time I was little in my grandmother’s car and watching the River Dance
I love this festival, very sweet, been going for 15 years!!
Believe it or not, I’ve never attended – but I’m planning on it this weekend!
