Las Katarinas and Friar Tuck’s

Nevada City has a lot of great dining options.  At the Outside Inn we often recommend to folks the best place to get a good meal, listen to music or find some coffee.  Yet when I stopped and thought about it, I realized it’s been awhile since I’ve actually been to some of these places.  So, in honor of the blog, I’ve decided to be a tourist in my own town.

The first pit stop was Las Katarinas, one of the two Mexican restaurants in downtown Nevada City.  The service was good, our food came out quickly and my husband was sweating by the time he finished his burrito.    Stuey Wells, owner of the Gray Goose in Nevada City, thinks Las Katarinas is a great choice because it’s “authentic and consistent.”

Afterwards we decided to visit Friar Tuck’s, which was very lively on a Thursday evening, thanks to the music of John Girton and several birthday gatherings in the bar.  I thoroughly enjoyed my glass of Pinot Noir and even bumped into an old friend.
