Lower Yuba River
The Lower Yuba River, a calm stretch of the river below the Highway 20 bridge, offered a fun family friendly activity earlier this summer. With the SYRCL Annual River Clean Up coming up this Saturday, I figured now was a good time to remind folks that river that runs through our backyard is a great asset to our community. From the lower Yuba, where the salmon still spawn, to the upper reaches of the watershed, SYRCL leads a volunteer effort to clean up the river on September 20. “This community is phenomenal. Where else can you count on more than 550 people to gather on one day in an effort to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy watershed,” said Melinda Booth, Wild & Scenic Film Festival Director. So whether you like to soak in a swimming hole, fly fish, float down on kayaks or taking a hike along the South Yuba River, now is a great time to give back and help with the clean up process. What’s your favorite part about the river?

I really like the small beaches where you can do a little sunning, picnicking and swimming. It really feels like a get-away. The clean up is an excellent way to help keep the rivers and creeks in our areas cleaned. Our neighborhood has participated for at least 10 years and it is nice to help keep junk/trash out of Deer Creek but it really has helped the whole neighborhood look better.
Thanks Ingrid.
