Mardi Gras Parade
Nevada City’s annual Mardi Gras parade this afternoon was still a festive occasion, despite the wet weather. Organized by the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, local organizations and businesses took the street to street, with the parade scheduled to have 35 different participants. I love the color from this parade, including those watching from the crowded sidewalks. It’s always fun to have a dance party, a fire-breathing dragon, a band and numerous floats cruise down Broad Street in the middle of the afternoon. What was your favorite part of the event? I’ve posted more photos on the Outside Inn’s Facebook page. Laissez les bons temps rouler.
Erin, as always, I love the photos you take. Thank you for making Nevada City/Grass Valley such a vibrant place! You are such a wonderful addition to my email!

I didn’t think we would be going, with the rain, I knew we wouldn’t. But sure enough, the three of us ended up, with beer in hand and one hot chocolate, at the parade. My husband being from New Orleans couldn’t stay away. Wet and cold-ish all he could say for the rest of the evening was “Nevada City really does a great job on this parade” I could see the sparkle of memories in his eyes as he proceeded to call several relatives who were two beers in hand, doing the same thing in New Orleans.
So glad you made it Ruth, and so glad I made it down to the event so you can show those relatives that we did it up, in the pouring rain.
Thanks for braving the weather to share the fun of the day. I have to admit that I felt that I would melt and stayed home. 🙂
