Matteo’s Public Beer Night

Matteo's Public Beer & Food Night, Tap It Brewery, photos by Erin Thiem

Matteo’s Public hosted one of their Beer & Food Pairing last night, combing a six course meal inspired by the season with Tap It Brewery craft beers.  Each course included a beer picked by Tap It Brewery brewmaster Ryan Aikens.  The menu included creamy carrot soup with apple and ginger (Pi Golden Ale), endive salad with smoked trout (Full Blown Stout), braised pork belly starter (No Soul Sour Red), roasted succotash (Pale Ale), local lamb shank (Cafe Noir Barrel Aged Coffee Imperial Porter) and a trio of candied apples (Ale Camino Amber).  Special palette cleansing sorbet specially made by Treats of Nevada City served as a refreshing treat between courses.  Matteo’s Public has the Tap It Pi Golden Ale currently on tap and will be rotating several of the other varieties of craft beers in the restaurant in the upcoming weeks.  If you want to come to the next beer and food pairing night, follow the Matteo’s Facebook page, currently in the works for late spring.  Now that you’re all thinking of beer, I’ve got a giveaway for you.  Post a comment on this blog post on your favorite type of beer and I’ve got one $5 gift certificate to giveaway to Matteo’s (perfect for the pint of Tap It or another variety of beer of your choice).  Winner will be announced on Sunday, November 22nd.

I can never resist talking about beer! I love Mendocino Brewing’s Imperial Ale and Russian River’s Ol’ Rasputin. Such great flavor in both!
