Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from the whole crew at the Outside Inn.  I wish I could say I have a favorite comment from the Grateful Giveaway, but we’d be here for days.  I want to take a moment and thank all the amazing local businesses and organizations who played along, I’m truly in awe that the crate was worth over $3000!  We live in an amazing community and the blog gives me an opportunity to showcase, share and appreciate our town every week.

The comments…I must admit I’m rather speechless.  Wow. Just wow. These comments are the best present a girl could get. Thanks, everyone.  Here are a few of the comments, thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts, if you have time, go back and read some of the almost 600 comments.

“Yes, of course it’s business, and PR…but with heart, and the heart of the blog highlights the heart of Nevada City’s rich culture, for the benefit of all,” wrote Maggie McKaig.  “I love how you support all kinds of community activities: big and small,” said Lisa Rowe.  “I love that, even though I’ve lived here half my life, your blog still tells me wonderful things to explore! I also appreciate that your blog really communicates the small town feel to others,” explained Kamryn.  “The incredible number of comments you have received on this post says it all. I love that the blog showcases the wide variety of things that make our community such a special place to live and visit. From the arts, to the trails, to the stories behind local businesses, it is a reminder of all the good around us,” wrote Brett Bentley.  “I love seeing the town, our town, my town through someone else’s eyes…a reminder of the privilege it is to live here in a community that is engaged and vibrant and beautiful,” wrote Aimee.  “I love that this little blog is not only geared for tourism but can also be used as a tool for locals,” said Anne.  “What I love most about the blog, and your instagram, is your infectiously-positive attitude. I have moments where I yearn for the sea, or crave wide open spaces, but you continue to remind me of the beauty in my backyard.” wrote Britta  “Thank you so much for bringing our amazing community groups together. The Outside Inn’s continual kindness and collaboration has always served as our best ambassador to the rest of California!” said Whitney.  “Thank you for your tireless devotion to this community — the blog is the public face of that and highlights the diverse wonders of this small but busy town. Grateful for your family and the love you have for Nevada County,” said Kim Culbertson.  “Who needs Oprah’s favorite things when we have Erin? What I love best about your blog is your passion and commitment to it — always endlessly inspiring,” exclaimed Moira McLachlin.

The most popular post this year ranged from Mountain Dog, Christmas Card Movie locations, Summer Kid Friendly Activities, Nevada County Narrow Gauge Museum to Lower Scotts Flat Lake, but comments on the giveaway gave shout outs to Halloween, Victorian Christmas, building the Inn Town Campground, the South Yuba River, wineriesfall colors, coffee shops , free veggie cart, Farmers Market, VisitNevadaCity to name a few.  I’m glad that so many of you are excited about the Inn Town Campground, it has been because of the support of this community that we were able to build, open and welcome so many campers. You can always follow me along via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or subscribe to blog via email.

And without further adieu the lucky winner is…. Beth.
