Mountain Biking
Nevada City is known as a world-class mountain biking destination and if you haven’t been out cruising the trails, now is the season. If you’re looking to connect with others, think about joining BONC (Bicyclists of Nevada County), YBONC (Youth Bicyclists of Nevada County) or one of the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop group rides.
If you’re interested in participating in the upcoming IMBA Trail Building workshop on April 3rd and 4th, check out the Bear Yuba Land Trust page for more information. The weekend includes an evening presentation at the North Star House, trail building school and trail work and maintenance on the Miner’s Trail off Highway 20 with the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew leaders.
And mark you calendars for the YBONC 2015 Nevada City Dirt Classic, May 2nd, 9th and 30th. The course starts at 3500 ft elevation and has forest canopy, technical descents, and punchy climbs. The USAC sanctioned event is open to pros and amateurs of all ages. And for the younger riders, make sure to sign up for the inaugural Miners Dirt Series, the XC race for 10-14 year olds, click here for more details.
And don’t forget to mark you calendars for the Amgen Tour of California Nevada City start: Monday, May 11th and the Nevada City Classic Bicycle Race: Sunday, June 20th. So folks, time to get outside and get on your bikes. And the winner of the Yoga for Runners free class is boswellfamilyof4.
