Mud and Pearls
Want to learn a new DIY skill? Check out Samantha Hinrich’s Mud and Pearls, a dynamic network of classes and community that aims to ” inspires and motivates people of all ages to create beautiful, sustainable, and hand made projects.” I dragged my sister and mother to Marian Lee’s Furniture Fix Up class at the Habitat for Humanity Restore, where we learned about tempered class mosaics and gave a new life to a cast away piece of furniture found on the side of the road. The hands on environment was both great for learning new skills and spending quality time with the family (even with a can of spray paint, rubber gloves and glass shards everywhere). Samantha has offered up to one InnSide Nevada City reader a free spot in her upcoming Chainsaw class, Saturday November 17th, post a comment on this blog post on what DIY skill you want to learn and if you’re interested in the chainsaw class and I’ll draw the winner on Monday, October 15th. I’m not eligible for the giveaway because I’ve already taken the class but I thought I’d give a shout out anyways. The class rocks! Samantha rocks! It is so empowering to be able to use a chainsaw and know that you can clear brush, make firewood, and takeout small trees.
I think Sam is brilliant! She created a fun way for women to learn how to use all kinds of typically male dominated tools. What a great way to become empowered with power tools!
A chainsaw class?! I am interested! I would love to learn how to use a chainsaw for arts and crafts, not just firewood. The tempered glass looks great, I think that would be fun to learn as well 🙂
I am posting on behalf of Briana Reijnen, who really wants to take this class…If she can run Heidelberg Windmill letterpress equipment, she can run a GD chainsaw…
