Music in the Mountains

Nevada City Music in the Mountains, Nevada Theatre

Music in the Mountains kicked off their spring concert series last night at the Nevada Theatre with Musical Art Quintet, a classical music group based in San Francisco. Local band Beaucoup Chapeaux opened the show and gave the Musical Art Quintet a warm Nevada City welcome.  For more upcoming Music in the Mountains events click here.  What a treat for our small community to have such high quality live music, thank you everyone for coming out and making it a really special evening.  And the winner from the Smith Vineyard’s upcoming concert and picnic is Janis.

What a fantastic evening of music! I love Beaucoup Chapeaux and The Musical Art Quintet blew me away. As a bass player I was inspired by the fact that their bassist, Sascha Jacobsen, is their band leader and composer. Their world premier performance of his arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue had the audience jumping out of their seats.

I love that their “Classical Revolution” movement has spread to 30 cities all over the world. It would be great if we could a chapter going up here. I know there are some members of the Nevada Theatre Commission who would like to see it happen at the Nevada Theatre. It would seem a natural as the relationship between them and KVMR grows.
