Curly Wolf became a fast favorite! Great place to mentally escape from the office for a few, and their coffee and tea is fantastic.
Good point that some of these coffee shops have excellent teas…
I prefer Nevada City Eats and their friendly morning crew.
It’s great that we get to celebrate National Coffee Day…. Gotta have that vanilla latte.
Well any excuse to celebrate coffee is a good one in my book 🙂
Oh, there are so many good places around town that I can’t pick just one! And I love fall drinks – pumpkin lattes? Yum!
Well good to see you’re spreading the local love all over town, why chose one?
Oh for the creamy, frothy, foam of a Curly Wolf cappuccino!
Sound delicious.
I love Caroline’s! They are the best. I love how they know my coffee drink. 😉
Did you see the giveaway on their website? I love that I walked in and they knew it was me… always fun to have your reputation proceed you.
Ohhh, my favorite coffee drink changes with the seasons. I love pumpkin spice lattes in the fall, and will go to all of the coffee places around to try them and decide which is the best. In the winter, eggnog lattes, in the spring and summer, it’s mochas either hot or cold depending on the temp outside.
I love that you have a drink for every season.
I love too many places to pick just one. Curly Wolf, Mekka, Caroline’s & Sierra Nevada Coffee Roasters are all on my favorites list! White chocolate mocha’s are my favorite go to drink, but I also love a good chai latte.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a white chocolate mocha, do you know if all of the local coffee shops have one?
I love coffee anywhere! I go to bed at night thinking about my cup of coffee in the morning. My favorite drink is a dirty latte
What’s in a dirty latte? Now you have me thinking of a dirty martini. I will agree that the coffee ritual is what gets me out of bed every day.
Caroline’s Egg Nog Latte. … Anything Fable…..Treats’ Affogata (sp?)….I’m thirsty now.
Me too. I like the Carolines Egg Not latte isn’t too sweet, just the right amount.
I can only afford to do outside coffee maybe twice a month, but enjoy Carolines and Curly Wolf and Sierra.
Maybe your odds will improve this month, thanks for the comment.
Mmm, I love chai lattes from Carolines!
Yumm… chai sounds delicious.
Carolines Coffee Roasters but I also love Treats and Fable!
What I love is that in some cases you can get the best of both worlds– like Treats affagatos? Coffee ice cream and coffee… yumm…. Or you can go to Harmony Ridge Market and buy a special Carolines roast.
Summer Thyme’s was our first favorite when we moved here six years ago, and it never disappoints. Double mocha or just a regular cup of joe. So many other great choices have popped up since then.
Instead of a pub crawl we could just go on a coffee tour?
Great post, I need and love coffee!
Me too, the bad thing about this post was drooling over all these photos… I mean, I know I drank many of them, but who knows when and definitely not today.
Well, it really depends. Broadstreet Bistro is my standby since they have the best patio, and they are the first place I ever ate/drank in Nevada City. My steady drink is a half-caff americano with extra room, but I’ve had good double cappuccinos too, and mochas…Saturday market days I flip flop between wanting a mocha from Broadstreet’s cart, or a warm Fable coffee. Neither were there this week so I remembered that 3 Forks Brewery and Bakery now serves Fable, and they did a good half-caff Americano for me. I do think my favorite Americanos come from SummerThymes though, but I miss the orange tones of the old cafe. Then there is Curly Wolf if I’m feeling extra hip, or during Victorian Christmas it’s a great spot for a family hot cocoa. I could go on…
I gave Amanda a hard time about missing the NC Farmers Market, but she was the Celtic Festival and busy as could be… Love that you miss the orange walls… maybe Emily’s Catering will keep them?
Emily’s walls are a beautiful blue. It looks amazing in there. Can’t wait for them to open… rumor has it they’ll be serving pour-over Fable!
Glad we’ve got extra eyes out there, keeping tabs on the comings and goings of coffee love and the color of walls. Keep up the fine work Ms. Fable.
So many great places to enjoy! My favorite is my weekly early morning cup with my mom at Caroline’s.
It is amazing how the company can improve a cup of coffee….
Mmmmm….coffee!! My favorite iced coffee is from Curly Wolf, my favorite latte is from Sierra Mountain. Just had a great iced latte the other morning from Three Forks. I need to try them ALL now!!
I’m feeling the same way, all these great ideas and suggestions… and now what we need is the mobile coffee shop to come by and deliver drinks, who’s up for that idea?
Here in the middle of the Anza Borrego Desert there is not a decent cup of coffee for at least an hour and a half drive in any direction! Carefully hoarding my last few precious beans from Sierra Mountain Coffee roasters until I can come stock up again! Java John’s is always such a friendly place to sit and sip a cappuccino in the window while watching the people go by. ‘sigh’ 😉
Miss you Julie!!! Glad we can make you think of home while drinking coffee and I’m confident a care package could be arranged if need be.
Love LOVE our local coffee shops! I’m lucky because they all have nondairy milk options : )
Glad to hear you’re not picking sides, team player that you are.
MMM Coffee coffee coffee….
I love all of our coffee shops for different drinks and reasons.
Curly wolf has wonderful wonderful coffee and cold brews.
Broad Street is wonderful for sitting outside, staff is great and provides a great working environment
Mekka is a great afternoon treat, a wonderful roast and hand crafted chocolates.
Three Forks has the most amazing muffins ever, if you need a treat with your coffee this is the place to go.
Caroline’s hands down has the best espresso roast I’ve tasted, the sound of fresh roasted beans clicking through their rafters is beyond inspiring.
I love that you love the different coffee shops for different reasons, way to share the love. Which one is best for a working office?
i love coffee with coconut milk and vanilla from any/all of Nevada City’s amazing coffee shops!
I don’t think I’ve ever tried coconut milk…
My writing group loves meeting at any of these amazing coffee spots!!
So when you all hit the big time you’ll have to give a “little” small town Nevada City shout out to some of your favorite stomps?
My favorite is Nevada City Eats…great lunch too.
Thanks Paul, good to hear.
We’ve rediscovered Java John’s after many years. Nice people and good coffee. Caroline’s is really good as well. Even though it’s fall, I’m still into an iced caramel latte – decaf please. 🙂
Iced caramel latte, now that sounds heavenly.
Gotta love that Fable coffee! We’re lucky to have so many options for delicious beverages in our little town!
When we come up we visit Java Johns. They have the best dirty chai.A chai tea latte with a shot of espresso. Yum.
Be back up on Halloween.
Excited to share the mayhem of Halloween fun with you… it’s a scene. Never had a dirty chai, is that much different then a chai latte?
Carolines coffee for everything.
I would love a coffee at any of the above places, if you could join me. But of course, in Wanaka, Ritual Cafe my favourite
Oh my fabulous friend Debbie!!! I’ll have coffee with you any day, now we have to work on those 7000 miles, an international date line and a few other obstacles… but perhaps you can have a cup with Dan next month when he comes to visit.
With so many great coffe shops around it is hard to pick just one. Today I pointed out Carlolines out to my visiting cousins because they are thinking about moving up here. I love mochas hot or cold
Yeah! And thanks again for your enthuasiam the other week for the Fire Safe Spaghetti Feed, yeah!!!
Caroline’s is Soooo good. But there’s really something about that Fable brew!
I love a hazelnut latte.
Sounds delicious, is there a local place that does one better then the rest?
Mmmm. Black and white mocha from Caroline’s!
I’ve never had one, sounds tasty.
Java Johns, Curly Wolf and Mekka are the spots I always go to. Just a little americano, espresso or latte and a nice walk downtown
How’d you leave Treats off your list? Those little people don’t know what to say…. but I love that your walk downtown often includes a treat for me too! Bonus points.
So many fun places to grab coffee in town. One of my favorite places is Summer Thyme’s. I’m a pretty boring gal in the coffee department and usually just go for a plain old latte (hot or cold) but when it gets close to Christmas I am a fan of the occasional Eggnog Latte! Yum!
Plain old latte is not borring, what if you drank cowboy coffee, grinds and all?
Not a coffee drinker, but know plenty, if I am a lucky winner and would make a friend’s day!
Hot cocoa with whipped cream is my favorite hot drink of choice 🙂
Hot cocoa counts right? And who said you have to actually use the gift cards for coffee? (Not me!).
Ok, perfect. A cappuccino from the Curly Wolf. My standard go to is iced lattes though. But wjen you’re someplace that does things well…you go for the good stuff!
Good call.
It is certainly nice to have so many cafe options. Nice job on the post Erin!
Thanks Georgette, the crazy ideas I come up with sometimes pan out 🙂
Just thinking about the gaggle of toddlers we’ll have at the house in the morning for playgroup makes me not really care, as long as it has caffeine ;). But I love a good Americano and can always go for a chai. Or a pumpkin latte…
Gaggle of toddlers, wow, you go my friend. Chai sound delicious…. and now that I think of it, I happen to know a fabulous friend who sometimes makes walking coffee deliveries… humm…
My favorite coffee spot is Starbucks near my home.,
Come visit downtown Nevada City!
Curly Wolf has great coffee! Also, an affagato from Treats hits the spot any time of day or night!
I also have to pre-eat for the affagato, b/c on an empty stomach it leaves me bouncing off the walls… but yum, coffee and coffee ice cream…
Curly Wolf’s coffee is so yummy but nothing beats the goat milk latte my hubby makes me on the weekends.
Love that you put a goat milk latte at the top of your list, just another reason why I love our community.
team dank could put this to good use!
Maybe you should recruit the rest of your Team Dank crew to help you improve your odds? Just saying.
I can always tell when I am really grooving with my coffee- when I can’t wait to go to bed at night so I can wake up and drink coffee. Yum. One of the amazing global addictions I subscribe to 🙂
Global addictions… makes you sound so worldy.
The curly wolf, lavender lattes are amazing there!
Thanks Shelley– and who knew they weren’t on the menu, just goes to show I can’t read.
My favorite thing is to hang with friends while enjoying my brew :). We are lucky to have so many great options! I have a longtime fondness for Mecca. Curly Wolf sure serves impressive coffee! They’re all amazing! I still miss Sierra Coffee Roasters where Sopa Thai is now. Epic card games and brew there!
Yeah for coffee with friends… I should’ve included your lovely photo of the latte from Cafe Mekka… maybe for next year’s National Coffee day post?
When I drink coffee I mostly like it black as night with rich flavor. I have found (so far) that Caroline’s has the best tasting Americano. When I am in the mood for something special its a Carlos Castonada at the Fix or the best thick shaving creme type foam cappuccino at Summertime….its like a perfectly toasted marshmallow!
Oh, I’ve never had the Carlos Castonado at the Fix (but the Mexican hot cocoa is amazing). Toasted marshmellow, yumm….
Though I was reluctant to join the fans of Curly Wolf, being loyal to other cafes, a respite here is a great way to get a San Francisco fix (historic Nevada City fusion) without actually traveling. So I’ve added it to my favorite spots. What an amazing small town we have.
Agreed!
We are so lucky to have great coffee in this community. Fable, Sierra Mountain Coffee Roasters, Curly Wolf. Can’t name just one!
It’s okay, it’s like good wine, sometimes you have to sample lots of variety to help determine your favorite.
We love our Outside Inn travel mug! It has gone on some pretty fun adventures with us.
Peggy, what a great opportunity to remind folks of that well traveld Outside Inn coffee mug, here’s the link:
https://visitnevadacityca.com/blog/outside-inn-around-the-globe.htm/
How the heck did I miss National Coffee Day!?! I feel like swearing! It should be a freakin’ national holiday!
I really like Sierra Mountain Coffee Roasters. The coffee is great and the pastries are phenomenal! I didn’t know a scone could be so delicious!
See, isn’t it great that I reminded you of these fun holidays? And isn’t it great that several of our local coffee shops thought it’d be fun to play along with my fun promotion? I’ll drink coffee to that!
If it’s a late night meetups with friend, Curly Wolf is the perfect place. But don’t forget the drive thru coffee at Grass Valley Florist!
This time of year it’s all about the pumpkin spice latte! And I might be craving a scoop of chocolate in that ever since I tried that suggestion…
Oh thanks for the plug for Grass Valley Florist (perhaps we should meet for coffee, take some photos and then I’ll do a blog post on them?).
Sierra coffee roasters is my morning favorite ( I work right across the street so it’s very convenient ). It’s also a favorite for meeting friends,
I like that its between Nevada City and Grass Valley.
In the evenings I like to go to curly wolf, 3 forks is on my list to try one of these weekend mornings.
I love that every time I go to Sierra Coffee Roasters it’s busy, especially for such an out of the way place. So words out.
I love Flour Garden and Broad Street Cafe. And I think one of life’s great riches is a straight-up, unsweetened cuppa hot dark-roast joe.
And so nice that you can walk downtown for fresh coffee, right?
I’m love getting a hot drink from both Flour Garden and Broad Street Cafe with a tasty GF treat. You can’t beat Treats for coffee ice cream for a cool dessert!
Ice cream is indeed a great option, but good to know there are good gluten free treats locally.
The Curly Wolf – they know how to do a flat white! I had to come all the way from New Zealand to Nevada City to find a flat white in the USA!
Long black at The Curly Wolf … a life saver.
“Give me Coffee to change the things I can change and Wine to accept the things I cannot!” I don’t know who said that but I love it… Coffee and Wine–2 of the essential food groups!
Favorite coffee dessert–Affogato. I recently discovered they make a great one at Trattoria Milano.
Oh, that is an awesome quote… I didn’t know the affogato was on the menu at Milano, bonus for a night out in Grass Valley.
We are so lucky to have so many coffee café choices!!! My favorite treat for myself is an iced black Coffee at Caroline’s after Saturday morning Jazzercise!!! Sigh…
What fun prizes you get to give away! I love trying new places for a mocha…. Several of these places I haven’t tried yet! Your list is a challenge to me to test out some of these new-to-me local spots!
And, I always love visiting my favorite, Carolines!
