National Trails Day
This Saturday, June 7th is National Trails Day and the Bear Yuba Land Trust has organized lots of events to help encourage folks to get outside and enjoy the trails. A full list of the day’s activities can be found here. So whether you’re joining the tree tour, the BONC bike ride, a hike along the Deer Creek Tribute Trail, Equestrian Ride, family bike ride or one of the many other activities, there’s something for everyone.
Laura Brown, Bear Yuba Land Trust Outreach Coordinator, says, “Coinciding with National Trails Day, the event held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7 is open to all and is meant to encourage more people to get outdoors on local trails. More than 20 local organizations, outdoor experts and trail advocates are coming together to organize 14 different outings.”
What’s your favorite local hike? I’ve put together a list of some past blog posts on local hikes and bike rides, some inspiration to motivate you outside.

I’m partial to the Deer Creek Tribute Trail – mostly because I can get to it by walking down my driveway and because it takes you into (or out of) Nevada City. I also like the NID ditch trail that runs near Cascade Shores (I don’t think it’s on the list).
