Nevada City Fall Colors

It’s that time of the year where you find unexpected pops of color in downtown Nevada City.  I wouldn’t say we’re at the peak of the fall color leaf hunting season, but the trees are definitely starting to change.  One of my favorite trees on Nevada Street has almost lost all of its bright red leaves.  I’m looking forward to seeing more #NevadaCityColor, perhaps we should officially start the 2015 photo contest?  More details on the contest coming soon, but feel free to use the hashtag on Instagram while I work on the details and prizes (and tag me @outsideinn or send me the photo via DM if your account isn’t public).

If you’ve never experienced the Gold Country fall colors here are a few posts from previous years (click herehere, herehere, here, here, here or here) to help inspire a visit or remind you to get outside and look around.  The Nevada City and Grass Valley Chambers have created a great walking tour map, click here to download it.  There are so many great fall events and things to do in our area, check out my Pinterest weekly events board for ideas or follow me on Instagram to watch my leaf peeping.

And if you missed the blog post about the InstaMeet fall colors walk, click here, see you on Saturday, October 3rd, 9am.

I hope we do get colors this year – other than brown. It might be an interesting color year because of the drought. I did see one of my favorite trees starting to turn on Broad Street.
