With Valentine’s Day this week there’s a lot happening in our small town.  Check out last week’s Valentine’s Day post for a round up of ideas (and the names of the winners).  But President’s Weekend also offers a number of great activities and events.  The Mardi Gras festivities kick off on Sunday with a street faire at 11am and the parade at 2pm.

Kick off the Mardi Gras festivities on Saturday, February 16 at the annual Masquerade Ball at the historic Miners Foundry Cultural Center in downtown Nevada City. Enjoy live music from the Deadbeats and BuckStar, dancing, costumes, masks, food and drinks.

If you’re looking for some live music Boca do Rio performing at The Stone House, The Crazy Horse Saloon has a number of concerts this weekend, plus live bands at Coopers and music at Friar Tucks.  Or if you’re interested in classical music check out the Sunday afternoon InConcert Sierra concert with Ensemble Schumann.

Or take advantage of the winter weather and go for a hike or bring your RV and stay at the Inn Town Campground.  Or maybe you’d prefer to visit Empire Mine State Park or Malakoff Diggins and learn about local history.  Whatever your weekend includes, there’s a lot going on in Nevada City.  Don’t forget about our local history hike with Folk Trails Hiking Club this Thursday, meet at the Outside Inn at 3pm.

The VisitNevadaCity Instagram feed is a fun way to share your local adventures online with #visitnevadacity to help showcase all the things to do, eat, see and enjoy in Nevada City.

If you don’t follow the Outside Inn on InstagramFacebook or Twitter, you can always check out my weekly events board on Pinterest for things to do every, updated every week.
