Nevada City Soapbox Derby
Nevada City Soapbox Derby tore down Nimrod Street for the 6th year in a row. The race is a free family friendly event with gravity powered soapbox cars speeding down to the cheers of spectators. The local event raises money for Pioneer Park and its primary focus is having fun. The Outside Inn/Inn Town Campground Lego car returned this year, everything is awesome when you’re part of a team! Twenty seven cars, including Slinky Dog, Mr. Potato Head, an outhouse, plus an airplane sped down the hill. Some cars were racing for speed, others to win the art awards. While most of the entrants are locals, the Nevada City Soapbox Derby welcomed the Rusty Rocket from San Jose and participants from Portland. Congrats to all the racers, special shout out to the 60 plus volunteers who help make the event happen, especially the instigator Rich Bodine. For photos from previous years (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015) check out the Outside Inn blog posts. Time to start brainstorming your entry for next year.

Loved this event yesterday, my first time. And your Lego car was a big hit too!
