Nevada County Fair

The Nevada County Fair is right around the corner with 5 days full of rides, exhibits, demonstrations, arts & crafts, animals, music and so much more.  The fair runs from Wednesday, August 7th through Sunday, August 11th at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, gates open at 10am on Wednesday with activities and fun for the whole family.  Check out the daily fair schedule, special contests, entertainment guide, Flying U Extreme Rodeo, Monster Truck and Demolition Derby.  New this year includes:  White water flume ride (log ride!), Megan the Bubbleologist, Family Farm (fun area to learn about local agriculture), Giant Yard Games, Motocross Madness and Night of Fire Thrill Show.

Entertainment this year includes Elevation Funk Band featuring J. Silk, David Perez BandMogollon, Star People, Amanda Gray, Petty Luv, Chris Crockett to name a few.   In addition to the rides, music and events are the barns full of livestock, games and buildings full of exhibits (7,500 this year).   Or maybe you want to try one of the Special Events?  This year’s contents include: Jell-O Eating Contest,  Squash Mobile Racing, Frozen Shirt Challenge (be the first to thaw a frozen shirt and get it on) and Watermelon Eating Challenge.   There are lots of great local organizations selling food to help raise funds for their programs year round (last year Treat Street raised over $900,000 for local non-profit organizations).  With 31 different booths on Treat Street do you choose the same thing every year or mix it up?   Did you know the Job’s Daughter Corn Dog booth sells between 15,000 – 19,000 corn dogs every year at the Fair?  Or that Grass Valley Host Lions Club serves approximately 16,000 ears of corn over the course of the whole fair.

The fair is such a special time for me and my daughter. Her birthday always lands during fair week and it is always exciting for her to spend the day going crazy and enjoying herself. It also makes it fun for them because school starts the following week, so it’s kind of like a last hurrah! She normally likes to go to the rodeo and see the cute kids wrangling sheep lol We always have such a blast. Our fair is just the best! Can’t wait!

Growing up in Sacramento, I’ve been to the California State Fair many times over the years. I hate to say I no longer look forward to the Fair, anymore. The Sacramento County Fair is not very exciting, either. A couple of years ago, I attended fairs in other neighboring counties and really enjoyed them.

I have not been to the Nevada County Fair, yet, but would love to go. Nevada County, when the State Fair had a large number of counties enter a county exhibit, always had one of the most beautiful ones, year after year. I look forward to attending your beautiful fair!

The fair is Nevada County’s Disneyland! I work at a domestic violence safe house and if I win, I will be giving the kids there the tickets 🙂

My favorites are everything. The beautiful grounds, colorful lights of the rides, the food (corn on the cob, tacos, frosties), the buildings full of local art, so talented, the music and demonstrations. It’s so much fun. I love the fair!

I am so excited to attend the Nevada County Fair for the first time, and bring my family! I’m a sucker for baby animals, fair food, quirky contests, and summer dancing under the trees. I can’t wait to check out Treat Street, and watch (or maybe even participate) in some fun contests! Thank you for this share! ✨✨

We LOVE our little fair. It’s just the right size. It’s always fun to see so many from the community. You know whatever day you go, you’re going to run into friends while making some nice memories. It truly is a country fair where there’s room for everyone to participate, not just attend.
