Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum 2016-05-29_0002

The Nevada County Narrow Gauge Museum has finished their renovation of the track between the museum and the Northern Queen (and along the edge of the Inn Town Campground).  Starting this Saturday, train enthusiasts, both young and old, can hop on the 1973 railbus and go for a ride.  It’s a great family friendly activity, but please note that this train ride does require adult supervision.  The 1.8 mile loop takes approximately 25 minutes round-trip and travels along the Gold Run Creek and parallels a portion of the original route of the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad.  The museum is open Friday-Tuesday, 10am-4pm during the summer.  Currently the train is scheduled for Saturdays only, for a full schedule of the railbus click here, signs up available at the Northern Queen and the Nevada County Railroad Museum.  The museum and the train ride are by donation, you can stop by and enjoy a docent led tour in the museum with information on local transportation history and treasures from the narrow gauge railroad era.  Exhibits include the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Engine 5, rolling stock and an early steam automobile.  All aboard!!!  And the winner from last week’s SYRCL Wild for the Yuba giveaway is Jesse Golden.  If you’re looking for more fun activities this week, make sure to check out our weekly events board.
