New Moon
New Moon Cafe in Nevada City is one of those restaurants you just wait for a special occasion to finally arrive so you can treat yourself to a fabulous dinner out. But if your birthday or anniversary was last month, perhaps you should take yourself to lunch on the deck. New Moon is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday (11:30-2) and open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, reservations recommended. Buzz and Peter are constantly updating their seasonally fresh menu, try the Niman Ranch house-made Lamb Burger with Chèvre, caramelized Onions & Aîoli or the fresh ravioli of the day. And what’s a decadent lunch without dessert? My personal favorite is the Crème Brûléee, but for this photo shoot I decided to branch out and try the fresh sorbet and now I’m not sure what’s my first choice. I had such an enjoyable lunch with my photography assistant Sasha I’d like to have a giveaway for 2 desserts at New Moon*, that way you can come back and tell me what is your recommendation. Please post a comment on this blog post and I’ll draw the winner on Friday, August 16th.

Oh my word. Everything looks so tasty! I’d like to try that chocolate item you’ve shown too… When am I visiting you???? 🙂
Soon!!! Their wine list is amazing, can just see us sitting and enjoying a fine meal out.
I have loved every meal I’ve eaten at the New Moon, however I can’t say I’ve treated myself to dessert. Maybe next time??
You should definitely treat yourself…
We had had at least three amazing dinners at New Moon before we finally went in for dessert only. It was one of the best dates we ever had! I would recommend starting with dessert at New Moon to anyone.
So what was your favorite dessert? (And did you enjoy Avenue Q?).
New Moon, how do I love the? Definitely an all time favorite in town. Buzz, please bring back “The Chocolate Thing” (seriously, that’s what it was called)! It is the answer to achieving peace, love and happiness in the world.
I love the idea of creating world peace via chocolate.
Lamb burgers! Since I don’t eat beef it’s my chance to have a burger fix! I made reservations already for me and my mom. Thanks for the inspiration!
So glad you got the comment to work, glad to hear you’ll be treating yourself soon.
One of my favorite all time restaurants! Wish they had the lamb burger on the dinner menu!
I think you have a good cause here my friend… they might listen to you 🙂
Creme Brulee all the way…
My favorite too… hopefully Aimee lets you eat yours and doesn’t make you share.
No issue there – Aimee hates creme brulee!
Yummy, something chocolate is always a hit :D.
Oh, I haven’t been there for years. I can imagine a dessert date in my near future! Thanks Erin
We love the New Moon! We love Buzz, too.
Everything the New Moon does is classy and upscale…and delicious! Having not had desserts there yet, I can only imagine that they would be just as wonderful. 🙂
New Moon is one of the most wonderful restaurants in town, it is one of my favorite places to go. The food is exceptional and the service is top notch! My birthday just so happens to be the day the winner is picked and it be a great gift to be blessed with a tasty treat from New Moon. Last dessert I had there was a chocolate torte with sea salt and whipped cream, it was divine!
New Moon is definitely my favorite restaurant in town. My wife and I went there last month for our 20th anniversary dinner. The mussels appetizer was incredible.
The last time I consumed two desserts by myself in a restaurant I gave birth to a healthy baby boy the next day…I guess I could share the other one if I win.
Yummm… And such amazing supporters of local agriculture too!
The food is transcendent. The wine is wonderful. And they’ve always gone out of their way to make us feel special.
Mmmmmm… I’m in the mood for something rich and chocolate-y! I’d love to try out a couple of New Moon’s delicious desserts! Thanks for the chance to win!
Foodie friends from LA were here recently so of course we went to New Moon, which was a total hit with them. All the desserts were popular!
Fresh peach cobbler is oh so good!
I’ll never forget my first meal at New Moon. Circa 2001. Now it’s the place that hold many special memories.
We’re coming to stay at your Inn in October & are planning to eat here – it’d be great to be treated to dessert!
Yum! Everything looks so wonderful! Thanks for sharing and for representing Nevada City so well :). I love this community!
Scrumptious. Yes, please.
The chocolate truffle tarts are my most favorite dessert, but when they have a berry cobbler it’s a tough choice! BEAUTIFUL photos!!!
Needless to say, the food is four stars, and has always been. But what makes this restaurant special is the people. The people at New Moon are gracious in every aspect. From being equally attentive, whether you came for a simple glass of wine and a salad, or for a full course experience. They also have always been most gracious in displaying my art over the years, and make me feel like my art is important to the restaurant, rather than the other way around. New Moon is an experience we all should expect when dining out.
Yummy! A perfect place in downtown Nevada City 🙂
all the desserts are intense and very fresh .and they have a wonderful wine selection.
I love the beet salad!
