So glad to hear Mountain Rec is doing this!!! We’ve been jonesing for a kayak rental outfit since we lost the only one in town – what? – a couple of years ago now? Our favorite water sport used to be sailing on Scotts with my dad, but since he retired his boat, we love to take the kids kayaking up in the cove at the top of Scotts. Would love to try kayaking lower Scotts, or try my luck at a boga board!
There is nothing like the weightlessness of water. It is so soothing! Swimming! Oh and Pioneer Pool opens this weekend too!
Anything cool and wet is fine with me, and we have it here in spades.
Love this blog!!!! We are big fans of all things water! so glad to learn about this beautiful pristine wonderful little area…
I guess if I had to choose, I’d say kayaking is our favorite, it’s peaceful and meditative.. fun and rejuvenating. Would for sure love to give paddle boarding a try.
Thanks Sarvy, glad to hear you’re enjoying the blog– some research projects are harder then others, this one was a lot of fun.
My favorite water sport is SUPping on a Boga. Seriously, I tried for the first time up at Scotts Flat Lake last year. It was heaven.
Yeah! This is going to be so great for Scott’s Flat this summer, and for all us locals and tourists! Thanks for the shout out Outside Inn (BOGA) we appreciate it, and love partnering up with Mtn. Rec and you guys. (Also loved girls night out 2 weeks ago- stayed in the climbing room and our boys were SO jealous.) It’s time for everyone to get out there and try walking on water on a paddleboard… much easier than it looks. Cheers to Summer in Nevada County!
Thanks Trish, glad you got to come be a tourist in Nevada City, I love our town. Super siked that Mountain Rec is getting your SUP out on the lake for folks to use, I’m confident we’ll be sending guests out every weekend to go play.
Awesome! I’ll be up there soon- been wanting to buy boards so this is a great way to demo!
You have NO idea how excited I am for this! Boga boards are the best and even my little girls can be in on the fun!
We tried the BOGA boards a few weeks ago when Mtn. Rec and BOGA were out at Scotts Flat for a no-motor day. It was our first time on a paddle board, and we can’t wait to do it again. Everyone is super friendly, and happy to show you how to use the boards – so for you first-timers, check it out, it’s a great way to enjoy the water and get some good exercise. It’s great to have these and the kayaks AT the lake, too!
Great information, I was wondering who would step us after Wolf Creek closed.
Thanks for posting!
Great blog! We stayed here our first trip to the area when we were scouting out whether we wanted to move here. It was a great place to stay, and very welcoming to our kids. We love kayaking and pretty much anything to do with the water!
By “here,” I mean we stayed at the Outside Inn!
This is great news. I love kayaking in this area.
Got to try SUPing at Scotts Flat for the first time and I absolutely love it. So do my kids. Renting a couple of boards is definitely on our To Do list for the summer!
SUPed on Scotts Flat Lake for the first time on Mother’s Day…so amazing! Can’t wait to do it again…..
Beautiful photos of Scotts Flat Lake activities–such a relaxing way to have fun with your kids! Did I mention you take great photos on the blog? You do!
I Love Paddle Boarding! It be a great activity to do when we come to visit this summer! I bet by then the boys will be able to teach me some tricks on the Boards 🙂
Paddling a boga board is like riding a cloud on the water. Had a chance to ride at Scotts flat recently. Great fun. So stoked that mountain rec is renting out some local fun….see ya soon.
Can’t wait to take my new being out on a boat-seems like a great activity as she gets up to about 8 months old…she loves water, and moving feet crack her up. 😉
Anything water related on such a ratification lake. I’d have to say swimming or boating, and picnics on the waters edge. I’m super excited to try out a Boga board, will make it a point to this summer for sure 🙂 also, renting a kayak for the day is totally up there on our list.
This looks like so much fun! I’ve been wanting to try this for about a year…need to get up to Scotts Flat soon!
My kids absolutely love SUP! I am putting them in some summer SUP camps this year and they are so excited. This is definitely a great family activity!
Love just being near the water- swimming, kayaking, wake boarding, skiing, relaxing with my toes in. . . Have always wanted to try SUP! Definitely would love to to try it this summer!
Yay – I’m a winner! Thanks so much. I’m looking forward to giving this a try.
This looks like so much fun! We’re new to the area and had no idea paddle boarding rentals were offered up here!
