Have you been to Polly’s Paladar?  The private supper club in the heart of downtown Nevada City offers a new chef and menu every month.  The January, Off the Hook Paladar was a unique collaboration with Pink Zebra, Stag Dining Group, Fine and Rare and Metal & Match.  The event, in collaboration with the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, included 6 courses.  Who can resist a meal which includes purple yam chips, mushroom cream, uni, spicy maitake bacos, Porchetta Di Testa, black trumpet naan, sunchoke mayo, charred winter vegetables, coho salmon, winter squash, smoked butter and kale pepita crisps and purple yam space cake with persimmon pasticcera.  The flight of drinks included tequila ocho anejo, sparkling ale, pinot noir and Chennin Blanc Viognier, to name a few.

I’ve profiled the supper club on the blog before, click herehere,  here, here and here for previous supper clubs.  Culinary adventures have included: South American, Mexican, Italian, French, Japanese, Greek, Creole, Hawaiian and Wild Foods, to name a few.

The Paladar has been profiled in Outside Magazine and “started with a home kitchen and thrift store tables.  It also started with members signing up on a torn up piece of paper and now with the help of many technologically literate family and friends, it’s all automatic and online.  I have chefs emailing their resumes to me and actually adding Polly’s Paladar on their own resumes. I have nearly 2000 members now and am floored by how this concept has taken off.  I genuinely do not believe that the supper club is mine. I feel that it belongs to all of us.  I hope that we continue to have the Paladar as a new type of gathering place and as a new way to interact with each other. The fact that Nevada City has embraced the supper club the way it has amazes me, ” says Megan Mccollam.  “We are still having fun, so much joy, how you could not be amazed by that?”

To celebrate their 5th birthday the upcoming Polly’s Paladar will be The Green Light, a Speakeasy Paladar with Chef Zack Perszyk, live music with Lolo Gervais and entertainment by the Bowtie Beauties Burlesque, click here for the full menu and ticket information.  “Please join me in celebrating five full years of the inclusiveness, the community building, and the down right deliciousness that Polly’s Paladar has given our town. Thank you for being a part of the food revolution and now it’s time to get dolled up. Bring your Baby for this weekend’s post-Valentine’s Day Paladar. We’re gonna be puttin’ on the Ritz, absolutely,” explains Megan Mccollam.

Megan is looking for more philanthropic collaborations, having success working with SYRCL, a benefit for Standing Rock and the upcoming March supper club will benefit the Hospitality House.
