Purdon Crossing Bridge
The Purdon Crossing bridge over the South Yuba River is currently closed and under construction. The 120 year old bridge at Purdon is a “one of a kind” says Joshua Pack, Principal Civil Engineer for the County. The bridge was in need of “significant rehabilitation” and the County is repairing the bridge and removing the lead based paint. The popular swimming/hiking/mountain biking spot is still accessible, but parking is more difficult. “It’s wonderful that the County is repairing the bridge, it will, as a result, make it harder to park, people should use caution when parking for room for emergency vehicles,” says Caleb Dardick, SYRCL Executive Director. Keep an eye out for SYRCL River Ambassadors this summer, every weekend they will be out “teaching locals and visitors how to keep our river safe,” says Caleb. Guess I know where I’m scheduling my hike on September! 🙂
Thanks for the update and great photos. My fav place to access the river.
