Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort

Cross Country Skiing at Royal Gorge

Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort is just 45 minutes up the hill from Nevada City and offers over 200 kilometers of trails.  I sent out some Outside Inn blog research assistants up for a day in the sun and they happily reported back, “The Royal Gorge that we all knew and loved is back.  After several years of poor grooming, Sugar Bowl Ski Resort has bought and operates Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort.  What a treat to have beautifully groomed trails and a helpful, happy staff.  It is the largest cross country ski resort in the country with views of the crest of the Sierras.  We spent the day up there striding and skating around the trails and enjoyed a well deserved hot chocolate at the lodge cafe afterwards.  They have a fully stocked rental department including skis and snowshoes. The trails are well marked,” said Evans Phelps.  So, if you’re looking for a fun winter outdoor activity, go check out Royal Gorge.  “And you are guaranteed to be exhausted,” claims Evans.  And the winner of my Valentine’s Day treats (roses, flowers and handmade card) is Bri, congrats.
