Hiking Scotts Flat Lake
Looking for another local hike idea, head out to Scotts Flat Lake and walk the “ramp to ramp” trail. The 6 mile hike starting at cascade shores (go down Pasquale Road to the PG&E dirt road) and walk the path around the perimeter of Scotts Flat Lake to the marina past the campground and back again. Even with the lake level so low, it is still beautiful on a winter’s day. Last week I posted about mountain biking the Scotts Flat Drop trail, and then it rained 10 inches, so this is another attempt to at the virtual rain dance. If I show low lakes, then it’ll rain another 6 inches? Congratulations Outside Inn – The Outdoor Activities link https://visitnevadacityca.com/outdoor-activities/ just landed a coveted spot in my Firefox bookmark list. The competition was fierce, and some didn’t believe it could be done. But after all the hard work, the late nights and early morning workouts, the struggle through personal hardship, and with the odds stacked against you, the ultimate reward was finally attained, at these Olympic -er, oh, umm, what was I saying?
So glad you posted this, as we will be camping at Scotts Flat this Summer.
Thanks Ruth, might be a bit hot, but always good to know you’re near water.
Erin– I’m glad to know about this hike, but calling it ramp-to-ramp is a misnomer, and as a result confusing. People should definitely know that it does not start from anywhere close to the Cascade Shores boat ramp. FRom that side, the trailhead is off Pasquale half-a-mile west of the ramp and just west of Santa Fe Court. The first lakeside feature you then see is the dam itself, not any sort of ramp. But from the Highway 20 side, yes, you can start at the ramp.
Thanks so much for posting the blogs about hiking and biking spots. As a newcomer to NC area it is hard to learn about these places. And the maps you have in the office are awesome. Thanks again!
I couldn’t find this trail. I spent over and hour driving up and down Pasquale Rd. I even asked some locals at the store and they didn’t know what I was taking about. The only possible “dirt road” it could have been had large “No Trespassing” sign.
