Skiing in the Sierras
So the Sierra Nevadas recently got a lot of snow, so while Nevada City isn’t a ski-in, ski-out destination, there is something to be said for coming to hang out in the snow-free zone and driving up the hill for some amazing skiing. Here are a few photos from the other day, taken at Alpine Meadows. From Nevada City you can access Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Donner Ski Ranch, Soda Springs and Royal Gorge, within an hour (*check road conditions before you go). If you want to drive a little bit farther you can ski at Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Homewood or Northstar. With so many options just up and over the hill, why come for a weekend getaway in Nevada City and take a day trip up a ski resort? For those of you who don’t want to go skiing, but want to have a bit of a play in the snow, there are several spots up Highway 20 that are great for sledding and snowshoeing, stop by our office and we’re happy to give you directions.
