Nevada City Soapbox DerbyThe Nevada City Soapbox Derby is coming to town this Saturday, June 21st from 12-6 on Nimrod Street, next to Pioneer Park and this morning the CBS Sacramento show Good Day Sacramento came to town to meet some of the cars and take a few test runs.  You can see the clips of Amy and the crew, click here and here.  The Outside Inn is joining the fun for the first time this year, please come cheer our Minion on as he rows down the street.   Event organizer Rich Bodine says there are “35 cars, 2/3rd speed, 1/3 art” gravity powered cars this year.  The event is a fundraiser for Pioneer Park.  Rich says, “It’s a community minded event” which not only benefits the park, but will a great day out for the whole family.  There will be free-swimming for the kids, a bounce house, Cub Scouts Hot Wheels racing, beer/wine by Nevada City Chamber, Lazy Dog ice cream, Matteo’s pulled pork sandwiches, Nevada City Little League snack shop, Smiley Guy’s BBQ and a free water refill station.  Thanks to the sponsors AJA Video, The Union, Telestream, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and more, click here to see the full list.  For photos from previous years click herehere and here.  Leave a comment on who you think is going to win and I’ll be posting the results on Saturday.
