Edwards Crossing, South Yuba River

TGIF, what your your plans for the weekend?  Summer is in full swing in Nevada City, why not take the kids to the South Yuba River for a great family friendly activity.  These young men took their boogie boards underneath the bridge at Edwards Crossing and said their favorite part was, “the rapids, seeing the fish and eating cookies.”    Click here for a past Outside Inn blog post about some great local activities for kids.  What’s your favorite kid friendly activity in summer?

This is really refreshing to see. One my acquaintances who runs the River Ambassador Program at SYRCL told me recently that many parents are not allowing their children to go to river since the drowning of that poor 13 year old earlier this summer. I find this sad as the river is such an important part of Nevada County culture. It can be dangerous but with proper precautions and education it really is quite safe.
