Sushi in the Raw
Sushi in the Raw on Spring Street in Nevada City is a great place to treat yourself to an intimate and delicious dinner. My advice, ask your server to pick his/her favorite dishes, and then just sit back and enjoy the dining experience. I have no idea what we ate, but I can tell you it was exquisite. Sushi in the Raw is open Tuesday-Saturday from 5pm onward, reservations are highly recommended as seating is limited. Truffled shashimi was excellent but I could really say that about every roll we have tried thus far. Get a reservation! This place fills up quick

Favorite restaurant in Nevada City hands down! What a special treat Sushi in the Raw is to our area and in general! I brag that the best sushi is here when I visit friends in LA and SF.
Believe it or not, I have never eaten at Sushi in the Raw! We always seem to go on days it’s closed or try to make reservations too late in the evening. This could be my chance!
Some of the best sushi ever – I’m never afraid to try something new. Their tako salad is delicious and we usually have truffled shashimi for both an appetizer and dessert. Sooo good.
Sushi in the Raw was the first place I ever tried sushi…needless to say I the bar has been set very high! I love all the sashimi and whatever the chef’s choice is.
Have never been there but it sure looks tasty!!

Ru’s sushi is the best I’ve ever had, including in Japan. He is a consummate sushi chef. Best experience: score a reservation at the back bar, where he will lead you on a journey of texture and flavor.
My favorites include mango shooters, spicy edamame, summer roll, and mango mochi. (I don’t eat fish; the veggie options are amazing!) My husband loves the Susan roll…and everything and anything else he’s ever had there. Our favorite place to dine- not only for the food, but also the service!

I recently ate at Sushi in the Raw for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was so yummy! I especially appreciated the vegetarian options.
By far the most amazing sushi ever. My favorite–other than the whole menu!–Kompachi Negiri, mmmm!
Susan Roll!!
So many wonderful dishes. My favorite is to always start with the edamame. Provides a fresh and cleansing appetizer that doesn’t weigh you down but wakens up the taste buds!

I can’t decide between the truffle sashimi, the honeymoon roll, and the gold rush roll. Give me one of each, I’ll re-taste them, and I’ll tell you which is best! 😉
awesome pictures…embarrassingly, I don’t generally consume the raw stuff…only seared salmon.
No other food makes me feel as nourished and satisfied as sushi 🙂

I really appreciate Ru and Susan’s consciousness around both personal and global health. It is so nice to be able to indulge in sushi and know it is from a sustainable source and free of dyes, etc. They are great!

My favorite is the Truffle Oil Sashimi, my daughter loves the salmon cheek. Great food, would love an excuse for a night out there.

This is absolutely my favorite restaurant and the best sushi that I have ever eaten. I think that I have too many favorite dishes to list, but I love to start with drunken shooters, move on to truffled sashimi, or mango ceviches, and somewhere in the evening there should be a sweetheart roll and hamachi toro. And I could keep going . . . mmmm.
Since I know you’re a foodie, the fact that you can have this many favorites is a good sign.

I love the Hamachi with truflle…also anything Ru suggests is always fantastic. Be adventuresome and let them decide for you. Susan Roll and sauce is always a must have as well…

Sushi in the Raw is my hands down FAVORITE sushi restaurant in my 67 years on earth. Su and Ru bring a cheerful healthful fresh-full taste of Japan for this little mining town to enjoy. Their loving relationship fills the intimate space, and we are all nourished physically and emotionally. Thank you both, Ru and Su, for contributing so much to our town and our health.
Went to Sushi in the Raw with my wife and friends last Friday and was better then ever! We started with a couple “Drunken” Lemon Salmon Shooters that were fantastic! Then, after a euphoric dose of Truffle Sashimi, we all shared the Fireball, Ellegent, Tokyo Rose and Susan rolls. As for my favorite dish, I had to get another Susan roll. It hands down one of the best “roll/sauce” combos I’ve had anywhere ever… sauce!
