In addition to the trail events, you can stop the Tahoe National Forest headquarters in Nevada City for a fun family-friendly trails day festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m
BYLT Outreach Coordinator Laura Petereson said, “It is so fabulous to see all these great organizations here to promote and encourage trails. We are really hoping to build on the momentum for future collaborations.” Vendors this year include: Bicyclists of Nevada County/IMBA, City of Grass Valley, Face Full of Fun Face Painting, FREED, Gold Country Trails Council, Mountain Recreation, Sierra Club, South Yuba River Citizens League, South Yuba River State Park Association, Tahoe National Forest, Tour of Nevada City Bike Shop, Trkac, Wildlife Rehab and Release. Live music by Free Range Sting Band and food by Fat Belly Taqueria and drinks by Three Forks Bakery & Brewing Company.
At 1 p.m. come hear what our local leaders say about trails and how they benefit our community. Speakers include Forest Supervisor Eli Ilano of Tahoe National Forest, Jesse Locks founder of Folk Trails Hiking Club, outdoor recreation supporter Evans Phelps of Nevada City’s City Council and mover and shaker Howard Levine of Grass Valley City Council.
So, are you inspired to get outside and hit the trails? Check out our outdoor adventure page for more outdoor activities. You can stop by the Outside Inn for a free trail map of some of our local favorites like the Deer Creek Tribute Trail and Hirschman Pond. Thanks Bear Yuba Land Trust for organizing this great free activity for locals to get to know organizations dedicated to helping trails and the outdoors. Post a comment if you’ve got a favorite local hike or adventure you want to share. And friendly reminder there’s still time to enter to win tickets to the Wild for the Yuba event on Saturday, June 4th.

Thanking you for keeping me (us) current on all that is happening in the area.
There are too many things going on this weekend. This sounds like a lot of fun but unfortunately I will be at the friends of the Nevada County Libraries Monthly Book Sale at the Foley Library in Nevada City. It’s from 9 am – 3pm. (In case people want something to do before or after they explore the local trails. 🙂 )
