Nevada City Truffle Shop

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I thought it’d be fun to check out some of the goodies you can buy locally in Nevada City.  If you’re looking for chocolate try the Nevada City Truffle Shop (which sells the amazing DeGroots chocolate) or the Nevada City Chocolate Shoppe.  Or if you feel like chocolate with a bit of a twist, stop into Indian Springs Vineyards tasting room and pick up their wine infused chocolates.  If your sweetheart needs a card, J.J. Jackson’s has a wide selection, including local photographer LeeAnn Brook’s Yuba heart rocks cards.  Why not buy an actual heart rock while you’re there, only $6.  If you think your loved one would prefer a one of a kind Valentine’s Day card, stop by My Favorite Things and check out the Glitter Girls studio ($5/hour, plus materials and you’re bound to be covered in glitter by the time you leave).  Maiden Lane on Broad Street has gifts  for any occassion, try a handbag, chocolate or a cookbook for the special person in your life.  Java John’s sells SANDbags, but click here to see Paulette’s cute heart totes.  Now if none of these items seem to fit the bill, visit Gray Goose and ask Jana or Stuey for a suggestion and they’re bound to send you home with a graffiti cocktail shaker or a Mexican wall art heart.  If pampering sounds like the perfect gift, click here for a few local suggestions.  Click here for a list of some of our local restauarants.  Happy Valentine’s Day from the Outside Inn.

Like my cards? Thanks Outside Inn! Invite your friends to my opening on Sunday from 4-7 at Szabo Vineyards Tasting Room, 316 Broad Street in downtown Nevada City. It will be a special opening for my newest large format contemporary landscape paintings, along with a wine tasting and chocolate truffle (from the Truffle Shoppe) for $8. And…the incredible eclectic jazz of Mesmerhythm. http://Www.brookdesign.com/fine art

I truly believe that DeGroot’s truffles at the Truffle Shop are the best kept yummy secret of Nevada City. Mmmm, my favorite is the Black Tulip—dark chocolate and cognac.
